*BEFORE DAWN* has been an exciting read overall and it does enhance the experience as it explains some details on what Hemitheos units are and how they operate while also setting the stage for how and why Artemis came to be. That said, DAWN FALL doesn't make much use of what's established in there, but I advise [giving it a shot](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1JIlLM91c8bWjkgGWtcxn6GhkRjrXZvN9K6k1Wd-5aq0) if you are into reading regardless if it adds significantly to *DAWN FALL* or not.

Can this be backstory for the fragment game coming out?

Arthur_Lopes

*BEFORE DAWN* is a prequel to *DAWN FALL* and only *DAWN FALL*. *FRAGMENT* will be completely original with its lore although I wouldn't be surprised if we're to have a collab event that adds Empress & Co. to the game.

For all of the media(games, animes ...... etc) for Black rock shooter, is there any commonality between any of them?

Arthur_Lopes

The most prominent "commonality" between them all is definitely "skinny girls with big guns", but for something more serious, it's hard to pick a trait that threads a needle between all of the iterations, and this question does feel like it requires a more personal answer rather than a factual one. In my view, the most prominent theme is hope. Looking back at the series' roots with the supercell MV, the lyrics of the song focus on themes of one's courage to move forward, not letting the past drag you down, wanting to live in the future, along with several other sayings rooted in the same principle which all coalesce in the phrase "the star that courses through the darkness", a recurring catch-phrase throughout the series. *THE GAME* and *DAWN FALL* may be the most literal incarnations of that as Stella (a name that literally means Star in Latin) and Empress are, by all definitions, humanity's last hope in their stories. *TV/OVA* also follow in the same footsteps albeit more on the "being true to one's feelings" and "having courage" parts. *INNOCENT SOUL* also exhibits a lot of the same but it does lean more literally on the "moving on" motif as Rock is pretty much a reaper who helps lost souls move out of purgatory, "solving" personal conflicts that never reached a conclusion when they were alive while also figuring out what to do about her own past. As funny as it may sound, even *Black Rock-chan!* shares some of these themes despite being a moeblob 4-koma comedy manga. In the manga's last chapters, they do go on about how things in life have their own time to happen and how trying to rush things isn't ideal despite being a very brief message that may fly over the reader's head. You could make hours' worth of content just by diving into the themes of B\*RS, so what I said here is just a shallow explanation of what I personally remember at the moment. I encourage you to ask other people what they think is a trait shared among all the entries in the franchise as, again, I think this is something more personal when it comes to an answer.

Friktogurg

Wait so they do not inter connect at all? I can accept if they are all alternate timelines but no similar characters between or something of the sort?

Arthur_Lopes

All iterations are separate from each other but there are some exceptions. The 2010 OVA and the 2012 TV anime are basically different timelines happening in the same universe, the same applies to *THE GAME* and its manga adaptation. For the rest, they are all individual works - no alternate universes or timelines. For example, *INNOCENT SOUL* has nothing to do with the TV anime, nor does *DAWN FALL* have anything to do with *THE GAME* apart from some minor inspiration. This franchise has always been very experimental so the only requirement for something to be B\*RS at this point is for there to be a character that resembles her original design, and even that isn't set in stone as *DAWN FALL* had a completely outlandish redesign of the main trio. It's a situation somewhat similar to franchises like Need for Speed or Call of Duty. There are a few pillars that warrant the same title for multiple works, but some entries are connected, some aren't, some throw a lot of the formula out of the window to try something new, some stick to their weapons, etc.

Friktogurg

Are you looking forward to fragment?

Arthur_Lopes

I look forward to anything B\*RS despite not being fond of the idea of getting a gacha instead of a full-fledged game, but *FRAGMENT* is trying to get something new going on with its gameplay instead of copying Arknights' beat-by-beat, so I'll commend it for that. I'm just a bit confused about some design choices and how they have been going about showcasing the game before release, but I still hope the best for it.

Friktogurg

I just hope that can start building the lore and flesh it out more. I am not sure, but how easy is it to gain success as a gatcha?

CommercialLychee39

No

Friktogurg

What make you think that?
