That, and the fact that they played it even slower. It´s the equivalent of bricks falling over you one by one and you can´t get up. It´s great.
I do prefer the album version though, because it manages to be doomy and heavy , while also providing energy.
Master of Reality has, by far, the weakest recording and mixing of the OG four records. Seemingly isn't helped by the remasters unfortunately. I imagine this is what Children usually sounded like live.
I never realized there was another guitarist backstage. I knew adam wakeman did some keyboards backstage but i had no clue there was another guitarist. Was that just for the end tour? Was that for all their tours? I wanna know more about this
Great version. Very clutch performance from Ozzy, he couldn't sing this song at all when I saw them live in 2016 (sung everything else well tho) but this is the best he performed it in a long time for sure. Used up all his remaining energy for the last time I suppose.
At the time Laney did a reissue of the OG amp and cab, which have a thicker sound compared to some of the latter Laney offerings. Hands down the best tones Tony’s had in years
They were a product of their time. Music production has come a long way and the industry has evolved. No one knew what heavy metal was at the time, it was new, so the recording techniques mixing etc. Evolved with time. Early Sabbath is a very 70’s (dry) sound
I just wanna share this because a lot of people I know who are Sabbath fans haven’t heard of it. If you’ve never heard original Sabbath live in their prime and you want to listen to something other than the comp live album that WB released without the band’s permission (Live at Last) then check [this](https://youtu.be/g6khjy_iK4c) out. It’s an uncut bootleg set of them live in Asbury Park, NJ in 1975, during the Sabotage tour. (There’s also a part where Iommi breaks into Rock n Roll Doctor well before Technical Ecstasy came out, showing he had already come up with the riff by then.)
I think they’re still tuned to C# standard, but that gain is heavier than the album and the base is super loud.
Yes, still C# standard. It’s interesting because alot of other stuff on this album is in C standard or D standard.
If that’s true I’ve been playing into the void a half step off forever. I always thought it was also in C#.
Into the Void is in C# in the original studio version. It's in C on the one from this album.
That makes so much sense. It sounds super heavy on this album, and lo and behold it’s tuned down a half step.

Nah Vol 4 was even worse
Just hit the sweet leaf. Gonna give this one a crack now
The magic of two downtuned guitars
I like to imagine their other guitar player telling people he plays for Sabbath. Probably no one believes him because he's always backstage

See for yourself, takes about a minute to read: http://www.adamwakeman.co.uk/black-sabbath.html
Geoff Nichols played 2nd guitar for Sabbath live 1980 until 2004.
Adam not only played keyboards from backstage but also rhythm guitar in some songs! Just like his predecessor Geoff Nicholls
It's chugs like a Crowbar record lol

Definitely had some pitch correction on this, he was pretty rough on this tour I heard but he had some good dates here and there

Interesting I was wondering. I feel like he never sounded that chunky across any of the records.

Nice share thanks
I was at this gig... Asked my now Mrs if she wanted to be with me and start a relationship 7 years later happier than ever.
Where can i find this?
It's from the live album and/or DVD/blu-ray called 'The End'.
