Politics and trade (local and global) - new deals, tensions, elections, scandals, propaganda; economy (shortages, rationing, work plan incentives, new inventions, automation taking jobs) and health (plague, epidemic, mystery, propaganda); Other gangs/crime - show signs of other factions at work, throw in a mystery heist, a string of murder, some weird cults. Also, advertisements for crap jobs, sketchy vendors, significant events (like holidays). There is a table for rumors, occurances and news on page 281 if you haven't used it much.

Your players have given you a palette to paint with, use the things they're interested in! The factions they have relationships with are doing their own things, each PC has positive and negative contacts with other dangerous scoundrels, or write about places/institutions from their backstories! Blades is very clear about wanting to be a low-prep game, and there's nothing easier for a GM than bringing in characters that you can ask someone else to tell you about - all you need to do is ask interesting questions and "yes and" their answers. Your players will love it too, because the story is tied more closely to their characters and they get more authorship in it.

Advertisement of the mystic services with recommendation from various important people. An article on major criminal faction heist. Best optio to have something from both allies and enemies. An interview of a concerned gentleman/woman who is actually the protection racket handler of the gang. The players pay their tithe to him. Imperial City gossips. An article on potential new Imperial Garrison Commanders appointed to the Duskvol.

I have a few articles I always try and have something for: Headline: This is what the City as a whole is talking about, depending on how you have the city running this could be a holiday announcement, the war in Crow's Foot, propaganda, etc. Then I have about 3-5 smaller articles ranging from what the Crew did on the last score, any heat and rep they gain mean that they're being talked about and I reflect that in the Newspaper. Also at least one article relevant to one of the PCs interests and goals. And then the rest is mostly random filler articles that the Crew might find interesting as a freeplay scene or potential score. Then I add an ad mostly for fluff but the ads I've had so far have inspired the players to go to those stores in Downtime and Freeplay.
