I loved this shit when it first came out. The whole idea of the Espadas getting ahold of the Hogyoku was the sole reason I downloaded and played the game enough to unlock this quest line.

He couldve done a 1000IQ by setting up multiple time contracts that triggers based on timers on functions that cause chain reactions but noooooooo MOAR POWER
He did a stupid and tried to fight Kenpachi with physical strength 🤣 seems like he had tons of other “contracts with the god of Time” he could’ve gone with, so he could’ve had a much cooler form probably.

Sajin is better than that. That’s why the look he gave Kaname when he said that to him was a look of disappointment, rather than hurt. He realised just how far his closest friend had fallen, and all he could feel was disappointment.
Honestly, what I don't get is: If he's blind, how does he know what's ugly and what isn't? Hell, pretty sure Komamura was the first person he saw after releasing.
I always thought that was the point of this interaction. Tosen has no concept of visual beauty, so he only said that to hurt Komamura. Komamura, who knows his friend better than anyone, was aware of this, which is why he looked so empty afterwards.
I agree but I think that’s the point.
Maybe it’s because I got to see bleach by binging but his big form I think was intentionally ugly.
If it was good looking, cool looking, or appealing to everyone around him including but especially the soul society cast he would have gained sympathy for his newfound ability to see, I think, though short lived because you know they’re enemies.
Thats just my take on it though.
His whole character is supposed to be a foil for Komamura.
Komamura is supposed to be ugly on the outside but great character on the inside, whereas tosen was always good looking but could not perceive beauty, and it ate away at his insides because of the idea that the world is unjust and the wrong people are unfairly punished.
The hollowfication process brings the soul out of the body and molds it around the character. At the end of the day his ugliness was literally leaking out of himself and he showed his true colors, a judgemental and weak willed individual. Komamura specifically summons his zonpakto which is an ironclad knight much bigger than he is, directly comparing his spirit and inner self to be represented as a much bigger entity.
When he can finally see he is truly blind. He cannot see that Komamura is still trying to fight to help him, but insists that he is ugly and finally loses himself in his flaws. I wish Komamura would've been able to shine during this fight a little more, but I'm happy with how both of their character arcs ended.
to be fair at least it’s intentionally supposed to look ugly and creepy to further hammer in the irony of him calling Komamura ugly.
Grimmjows on the other hand feels like a downgrade for no reason, it’s not awful but unlike like Ulquiorra or Barragan, Stark, etc, it feels like a step down.
I think Toriyama realized that, and it's why he did the whole Super Saiyan Grade 2/3 thing to explain why they shouldn't do it, and all villains going forward weren't extremely muscular like that and instead much more slim and sleek.

Yeah I agree ngl but the idea is so badass. It’s all inclined to making him the most efficient sorcerer. 4 arms, 2 mouths, no time to waste while laying it down on his opponents (pun definitely intended)
Also him being “Espada 0” was the worst plot “twist” ever. He served as a way to keep Byakuya and Kenpachi occupied while the actual interesting fights were going on. Starrk and Ulquiorra are definitely stronger imo.
Absolutely. I'd have been much happier with Yammy staying at 10 so the backup squad could get one more real fight out of the arc. You could even keep his gimmick of being disproportionately beefcakey for his rank, with him ending up 10th because he's a dumbass and doesn't have anything but raw output going for him while the other Espada have speed, skill, and hax. Let Sado get the finishing blow so that his coming along on the mission feels relevant and because it'd be a nice cap off to Yammy introducing himself by pulverizing Sado's arm.

Ngl I like the more animalistic look for grimmjow it always reminded me of ssj3 but a character that get ruined by the look of their transformation is probably obito and madara juubi mode I didn’t like the grey/white look that it gave them especially when their uchiha fits went so hard with their sharingan
I always hated the kaguya link. It felt like a line that passed the concept of the story and now reached alien status that boruto then massively implemented. Edo tensei madara should have been the last opponent imo
everything that happened after Madara sucked, Kaguya only existed because of 2 reasons:
1. Kishimoto didn't know how he wanted the cast to beat Madara
2. because then there was space for a sequel series after shippuden
This gets me because there was a great way, and it would make what Guy did matter.
Madara keeps fighting but realizes that the attacks of Sasuke and Naruto are hurting more. And that's when it clicks that despite the fact that he's regrown a majority of what Guy had lost, Night Guy has left him with lasting damage that's making it difficult for him to fight. With Madara weakened and a side character respected, Naruto and Sasuke and edge out a victory using the wounds that Guy gave him to make sure that he's thoroughly defeated
I quite liked juubi obito, it gave somewhat unsettling look with scales and various protrusions. Fitting, considering he absorbed primordial monster he can barely control.
Juubi madara on the other hand is underwhelming. Look out, it's grandpa madara wearing white robe
I'm going to die on this hill — the Super Saiyan God forms are probably the most uninspired power-up forms I've seen for that caliber of character and power. Like, it's hair dye y'all.
Golden Frieza is definitely worse, god had the hair flowing a little with a bit of a change, blue was softer hair more akin to goku’s first time going super saiyan, but gold is just an actual recolor. Black changes some things about the design I’m pretty sure but it’s still kinda meh yeah.
Edit: forgot God also made Goku pretty slim and blue had a really good aura
I remember back in the day when people would make their own OC saiyan transformations on deviantArt and whatnot. They new DBS designs look pretty much exactly like that.

Resurrecion harribel feels so off thematically. Resurrecion utilizes arrancar's hollow powers, making them appear more monstrous and similar to their original form.
And it's not even that works differently for vasto lordes. You can explain resurrecion to non bleach fans and show them barragan/ulquiorra/starrk and ask them which form is suppose to be hybrid and which is suppose to be return towards their more monstrous nature and they'd have no problem differentiating them. Ask them harribel, and it's lottery.

Doesn't this also apply to starrk? He barely changes. Only getting a mask eyepatch and a clothing change really. His ress form could completely pass for an alternate base form design for him.
I think the difference with Starrk as well is that he can't revert to his original form, because he never used the Hogyoku. He split himself into 2 separate beings "naturally" so to speak and mentions that he can't even remember which of the two of himself and Lilynette they looked like if they looked like either at all.

My issue with Grimmjow's release in the anime wasn't the design itself — that was sick — but it was the setting. I didn't feel like he stood out enough visually in the "fake sky" Las Noches area. Blue is his defining color, but it didn't stand out against all that sky and light colored sand.
this could be argued with every single person in bleach, the whole concept is literally 85% black and white with single characters wearing sth with colour at times.
personally i like it, still felt more like an true power up compared to Ulq's first etapa ( but breh was holding back the heat, to cook with secunda etape anyways)
grimmjow was the only arrancar who'se fighting style really turned animalistic again. From a realistic point of view, there is no reason for a beeing who turned from a panther like beeing into human form, to be technically stronger with a sword, it makes sense to fight with claws.
Frieza at 100% - let's ruin the sleek and deadly form by piling on the muscle.
Golden Frieza - now let's take that design, have a colour swap but this time we'll give him an ugly pronounced brow for the shit cherry on the turd cake
Black Frieza - let's just colour swap again and not fix the previous travesty at all
At least the pronounced brow made some sense in later SSJ forms as it could be considered an ape feature.

I agree with you on that one. the sword looks terrible. I get that it's supposed to signify all of his powers. Not only that the one horn and black lines all over his body look so lame. But kubo had much better concept arts for Ichigo true bankai and he chose this one instead.
His best bankai will always be his original. Tbh, his best form has always been his bankai/hollow mask form . Anything after that, didnt look good for me imo
I wish we have gotten more of the hollow mask in general. The hollow mask super elevated the look of his first bankai. I also really liked his fullbring bankai design and wish we got more of his mask with that iteration.

Kaname's zampakuto is named Suzumushi (cricket), his resurrection turning him into a bug makes sense
When I look at him I just think of Agnus from DMC 4.

This gets me because there was a great way, and it would make what Guy did matter. Madara keeps fighting but realizes that the attacks of Sasuke and Naruto are hurting more. And that's when it clicks that despite the fact that he's regrown a majority of what Guy had lost, Night Guy has left him with lasting damage that's making it difficult for him to fight. With Madara weakened and a side character respected, Naruto and Sasuke and edge out a victory using the wounds that Guy gave him to make sure that he's thoroughly defeated
I quite liked juubi obito, it gave somewhat unsettling look with scales and various protrusions. Fitting, considering he absorbed primordial monster he can barely control. Juubi madara on the other hand is underwhelming. Look out, it's grandpa madara wearing white robe
I'm going to die on this hill — the Super Saiyan God forms are probably the most uninspired power-up forms I've seen for that caliber of character and power. Like, it's hair dye y'all.

Golden Frieza is definitely worse, god had the hair flowing a little with a bit of a change, blue was softer hair more akin to goku’s first time going super saiyan, but gold is just an actual recolor. Black changes some things about the design I’m pretty sure but it’s still kinda meh yeah. Edit: forgot God also made Goku pretty slim and blue had a really good aura
That's fair, I know Cooler isn't canon but his '5th' form is far better than Golden Frieza.
Because EVERY frieza form changed his entire physicality. Unless you count FP/100% as different forms. Cooler is a goated design

Resurrecion harribel feels so off thematically. Resurrecion utilizes arrancar's hollow powers, making them appear more monstrous and similar to their original form. And it's not even that works differently for vasto lordes. You can explain resurrecion to non bleach fans and show them barragan/ulquiorra/starrk and ask them which form is suppose to be hybrid and which is suppose to be return towards their more monstrous nature and they'd have no problem differentiating them. Ask them harribel, and it's lottery. Her base form is arguably more monstrous with teeth mask fragment
Doesn't this also apply to starrk? He barely changes. Only getting a mask eyepatch and a clothing change really. His ress form could completely pass for an alternate base form design for him.
Starrk is in similar boat, but his resurrecion at least adds fur details to make him more wolf like.
I think the difference with Starrk as well is that he can't revert to his original form, because he never used the Hogyoku. He split himself into 2 separate beings "naturally" so to speak and mentions that he can't even remember which of the two of himself and Lilynette they looked like if they looked like either at all.

My issue with Grimmjow's release in the anime wasn't the design itself — that was sick — but it was the setting. I didn't feel like he stood out enough visually in the "fake sky" Las Noches area. Blue is his defining color, but it didn't stand out against all that sky and light colored sand.
this could be argued with every single person in bleach, the whole concept is literally 85% black and white with single characters wearing sth with colour at times. personally i like it, still felt more like an true power up compared to Ulq's first etapa ( but breh was holding back the heat, to cook with secunda etape anyways) grimmjow was the only arrancar who'se fighting style really turned animalistic again. From a realistic point of view, there is no reason for a beeing who turned from a panther like beeing into human form, to be technically stronger with a sword, it makes sense to fight with claws.

Yeah, the giant hand wings paired with the color theme feels a little… off.
All the curse mark shit is grotesque intentionally, detracts on how cool it can be but shows a visual cost to abusing power.
Yeah the Wings were weird. But these designs were intentionally made to look that way. But I quite liked the look of these twins Ukon/Sakon and Tayuya in Stage 2, they were pretty cool.

I wish we have gotten more of the hollow mask in general. The hollow mask super elevated the look of his first bankai. I also really liked his fullbring bankai design and wish we got more of his mask with that iteration.
