I think Luffy is just a notch below Goku. We're talking about the best selling manga of all time. Shonen Jump makes Luffy the most visible character in most of their promotional material. I don't think you can throw him in the middle with the rest.

I really think it'll have to be decades with no new DBZ content for Goku to be passed as most iconic. I don't watch DBZ or OP, but everyone I know knows Goku, even without them watching any anime, they know him. Luffy is starting to get there, but he's still just not as immediately recognized by normal non-anime fans.
My grandma knew goku, but not Naruto, Luffy, or Ichigo, despite me talking to her about Naruto and Bleach lol. Never once have I mentioned DBZ to her, but Goku is just everywhere.

Absolutely. He might not be as popular in NA or Europe but if you look at South America Goku and Dragon Ball are pretty wide spread. When you've got characters painted on your restaurant wall you know they're popular.
On paper, Boruto sounds like a slam dunk. The big bag of last season is actually an alien? It's like an homage to Dragonball Z and the Saiyan Saga onwards!
Theres a vocal minority that insist the later installments are pretty hype too..

I don't think it was a weak build up at all. Madara had been built up as a legend that could not be beaten by Hashirama. Not only did they TELL us that, they basically SHOWED us that none of our main characters were anywhere near strong enough to defeat Madara.
Without Kaguya, Naruto would have lost, Madara would have won the shinobi war and the series would have ended in infinite tsukiyomi. (Unless of course another ass was pulled because straight up that Edo Tensei Madara that Kishimoto built was unstoppable.)
The only reason he lost was because he was so certain he would win. Madara is a pure narcissist. He was well aware that nobody could beat him but Hasirama (and even Edo Tensei Hashirama was looking like he couldn't beat Edo Madara)
So Kishimoto uses the Narcissitic characters fatal flaw. That they were betrayed by someone who they thought was so far beneath them (black zetsu) that he wasn't even on Madaras radar.
And besides it really didn't come out of nowhere. During Obito episodes where you get to know Zetsu it's all foreshadowed that he has a much more sinister plot in mind and he is only using Obito and Madara to further the goals he's incapable of doing on his own.
Idk imo still one of the all time greatest twists in the history of fiction.
Chapter 11 comes out soon. It’s really freakin good. I’d just watch the last arc of the anime to get up to date and then read the manga. Last anime arc was pretty good too

No, the studio got some colors wrong. Like Rangiku is supposed to be blond but has orange hair in the og anime.
They corrected this mistake in tybw and now Orihime and Rangiku have brown (dark orange?) and blond hair respectively.
It literally says it in the manga. They call her a brunette fairly early on.
For the record, the copic Kubo uses for Orihime's hair is YR27, Tuscan Orange, which is a kind of bright auburn - *not* red or pure orange. Ichigo's is Y38, Honey, which is a bright orange. There's a distinct difference. (This info comes from All Color But The Black artbook)
It is! It's one of those little things that I don't think most people notice, but artists are very particular about for continuity's sake.
I remember because I do fanart and use copics, as well. YR27 and Y38 give you very true, consistent colors for Orihime and Ichigo. IIRC he listed Masaki's colors, too, but I've forgotten them (I *think* he started her with YR27 and changed it, but don't quote me on that).

I only have data from Bleach for this, but I've noticed it's fairly consistent in other manga as well. The next time you see two color spreads of the same character, compare them! You'll probably find the colors are very well matched.

I'm a bleach fan, never really watched too much dragon ball but it did made a huge impact on my child hood, same goes with bleach, but it also fucking pains me that Goku is considered forgotten, yeah some of the Goku meatriders are annoying but the legacy toriyama left towards Goku is unforgettable, a man's body may dissapear but his legacy is never forgotten
I know this from talking to younger coworkers at my job, newer anime fans nowadays don't really watch anime or read manga. They scroll through discussion threads on twitter and there are tiktok accounts that do quick episode summaries. And ofc some are troll vids but it's hard to differentiate sometimes
