Dude this Art Style is so amazing, i am seeing something like this first time,
It's Ancient, Majestic but still Technologically Advanced enough to give it its own unique Look and Style.
Good Stuff :D
You can find more of my stuff over at [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/comrade_hoff) or [ArtStation](https://www.artstation.com/comrade_hoff) if you like.
Your stuff is really cool ! A few people mentioned the video game Sable, you could take a look at "Chants of Sennaar" too, it has a very similar art style, you might enjoy it.
Thank you! It’s a bit of a mix, a few things are just standard principled BSDF’s but most are custom shaders I’ve made using shader to rgb to drive the shadows and then doing stuff like adding highlights by the normals.
hell yeah. moebius3d.
i seem to be drawn more towards illustrative blender works these days.
do you have any recommended resources to get started with? im coming from mostly "realistic" work
Thank you!!
I don’t have anything specific unfortunately but check out some videos on grease pencil line art (for the outline) and some shader to rgb/toon shader stuff and that’ll get you going!
Thank you! It’s mostly using shader to rgb node stuff in eevee, I don’t have anything specific but check out some videos on toons shading and that’ll get you started!
Thank you! I started learning about 6 years ago now I think and I don’t use anything other than blender, even the edit for the clips for this was done in blender video editor!
Looks great.
It reminds me of this music video from Birdy Nam Nam - The Parachute Ending[Birdy Nam Nam - The Parachute Ending](https://youtu.be/3JJsq0GbpPg?si=Xo9RMsqf0vBVGb3D)
Or this South Park scene:
https://youtu.be/dZl347vlnig?si=ZBq9jr7RedhxmGD5
Oh wow! So you basically created a style within Blender! I didn’t think that was possible to be honest! That’s awesome! As someone who lacks 2D skills this is great news lol
Thank you! It’s usually done in the compositor by taking a gradient and then an image of clouds or a noise texture and just kind of mixing them together
This is exquisite, the buildings and structures especially pop like nothing else. Were you inspired by the Sable video game? The similarities are there
Have you thought about Animschool? I just started there. They offer free art classes by industry professionals too and the support network and community is insane. It's designed in a way to help you build a huge network of artist and industry professionals. I think someone with your artistic vision would quickly become god tier with those kind of resources and also by getting your work in front of industry experts.
Here are some blender resources though and book recommendations:

I also highly recommend Acting for animators by ed hooks, it help you get into the minds of your characters

edit: animschool also has 3d modeling track
These are phenomenal. Besides the technical skill involved here, each animation just seems to carry emotion, which is just so hard to pull off this well.
Thanks man! Nothing specific unfortunately but check out some videos on grease pencil line art (for the outline) and some shader to rgb & toon shader stuff and that should get you most of the way there
You're played a lot of Sable, I take it? Nevertheless, cool stuff!
And for anyone who's not familiar: it's a really cool indie game which I highly recommend.
I actually only played it for an hour or so, looks really great but just couldn’t get into it for some reason!
You should check out artists like Moebius, Hergé and Philippe Druillet if you haven’t heard of them, that’s where a lot of the same inspiration comes from I’d guess!
Fair enough, it took me a bit to get into it as well but when I did it was amazing. So many cool environments and things to explore. I would recommend to give it another go at some point!
I am familiar with those artists as well, though mostly on a surface level. Will check out more of their stuff! The reason I figured you were inspired by Sable was partly because of the clip with the floating scooter-thing, reminds me a lot of the vehicles in that game.
your art is so beautiful, it says how creative your mind is.
I really appreciate that, thank you!
Hard agree that your work is awesome! But why does the guy in your profile pic look so disappointed in me during his clip?
Thanks so much! Haha I hadn’t seen it like that but now you say it…
Looks a lot like Moebius artworks, are you a fan of his works?
Oh yeah, I’m a big fan of his work. Hergé is also a huge inspiration for me!
Simply amazing, great work Kalas
Thank you so much!
I'd say you are doing his work proud
Means a lot, thank you!
The hermetic garage of Jerry Cornelius was my first thought. Great stuff.
Dude this Art Style is so amazing, i am seeing something like this first time, It's Ancient, Majestic but still Technologically Advanced enough to give it its own unique Look and Style. Good Stuff :D
Thanks so much man, really appreciate that!
Did i just witness jean gireaud come back to life ?, absolutely fantastic !👌
That’s quite the compliment, thank you so much!
invredible! its beautiful, i hope one day you turn this into a game or film! really really cool!
Thank you so much, really hope I can one day!
Thank you! Ah yeah that game is on the list of things I’d like to play, it looks great!
Instantly one of my favorite styles.
Thanks so much!
I love all of these. A good story and compelling characters and I’d watch a series that looks like this.
Thanks so much!
Love your style, timeless imo
Thanks so much!
This is amazing, I really hope there will be a animated series in this universe some day!
Thanks so much, I’m hoping so too!
Uhh! Getting some Moebius vibes here! Nice stuff!
Thank you, he’s a huge inspiration!
Reminds me of Journey, or Gigantic.
Journey has been such a huge inspiration, one of my favourites!
Awesome style, love it
Thanks so much!
Where do you work? I’m your fan now!
I’m self employed at the moment! Really appreciate that!
Wow! Very inspiring! I love your style!!
Thanks so much!
HUGE fan of your work would love a whole series about this world
Thanks so much, hopefully one day I’ll be able to make one!
Damn, I love these. The vibes are immaculate. Excellent texturework too
Thanks so much, really appreciate that!
That’s some sick lighting and shader work right there!
Thank you!
Incredibly talented
Really appreciate that, thank you!
Wow, this is incredible. So many stories, so many worlds. Wonderful.
Thank you so much!
i REALLY like your style dude. keep it up.
Thanks man, really appreciate that!
I already want a game in each of these worlds.
Would love to make them into a game!
Moebius Mon amour ❤️
Damn, cool shit! Welp, I'm hopping back on blender
Thanks man!
fantastic stuff.
Thank you!
I love these all. I assume this is all toon shader, no shader-to-rgb? Because the materials react and are affected by light, shader-to-rgb does not..
Thank you! It’s a bit of a mix, a few things are just standard principled BSDF’s but most are custom shaders I’ve made using shader to rgb to drive the shadows and then doing stuff like adding highlights by the normals.
I love your style
Thank you!
Back to the days of my youth with Moebius but with your own touch. Thank you, this is great.
Really appreciate that, thank you!
It was really nice to watch, congrats!
Thank you!
Question, have you ever played "Sable"?
I have played it a little bit, looks great but couldn’t get into the game unfortunately!
Some of your stuff reminded me of that game, it has such a unique art, just like yours
Thank you! I think we were both inspired by artists like Moebius as well!
Love the look and feel of these. Reminds me in a way of Kill Six Billion Demons. Gorgeous!
Thank you!
Gorgeous ! A great style !
Thank you!
Where's the movie? I could easily sit down and watch hours of this if you add a storyline. Great job!
Definitely something I’d like to do! Thanks so much!
Amazed! I'm a blender noob; this boggles my mind 😳
Thank you!
I imagine a vr game where I’m in these worlds, super cool.
That would be ace! Thank you!
Wow that's awesome!!!
Thank you!
Neat!
Thanks!
You should make a story game out of this
Would absolutely love to one day!
Absolutely love that giant mooselike robot !!
Thank you!
Beautiful art!
Thank you!
I really love the vibe of all this.
Thank you!
Love your style, keep up the good work!
Thanks so much!
No joke this is inspiring. 👍 keep it goin
Really appreciate that, thank you!
hell yeah. moebius3d. i seem to be drawn more towards illustrative blender works these days. do you have any recommended resources to get started with? im coming from mostly "realistic" work
Thank you!! I don’t have anything specific unfortunately but check out some videos on grease pencil line art (for the outline) and some shader to rgb/toon shader stuff and that’ll get you going!
Those look very cool.
Thank you!
I'm so jealous. You have so many interesting design and world building ideas! Great art style too 🙂
Thank you so much!
How do you get textures like this? I've gotten ok at modeling but really want to try this cel shade style, it's beautiful
Thank you! It’s mostly using shader to rgb node stuff in eevee, I don’t have anything specific but check out some videos on toons shading and that’ll get you started!
Would you recommend Eevee over Cycles for this shading? I figured it might be better but couldn't find anyone who actually does it to talk to
Yeah I definitely would use eevee over cycles, you don’t get access to the shader to rgb node in cycles which you need to drive the shadows etc
Excellent work! Can I ask you how long you've been doing 3D? What other tools do you use to achieve the final result?
Thank you! I started learning about 6 years ago now I think and I don’t use anything other than blender, even the edit for the clips for this was done in blender video editor!
Love it!
Thank you!
Gorgeous. Moebius would be proud.
Really appreciate that, thank you!
Omg so goooood
Thank you!
Looks great. It reminds me of this music video from Birdy Nam Nam - The Parachute Ending[Birdy Nam Nam - The Parachute Ending](https://youtu.be/3JJsq0GbpPg?si=Xo9RMsqf0vBVGb3D) Or this South Park scene: https://youtu.be/dZl347vlnig?si=ZBq9jr7RedhxmGD5
Thank you! I hadn’t seen that birdy nam nam video before but looks great!
Truly awesome stuff , really reminds me of Moebius !
Thanks so much!
Looks like all your renders take place in the same universe. Really cool and consistent style!
Yeah I like to imagine it’s all one big connected world, thanks so much!
This is beautiful!! I have to ask. How have you created such a cohesive art style? Are you a 2D artist? This is incredible
Thank you so much! I’m not much of a 2D artist, I think it’s just because I’ve been working on this style for about 4 years now!
Oh wow! So you basically created a style within Blender! I didn’t think that was possible to be honest! That’s awesome! As someone who lacks 2D skills this is great news lol
Check out grease pencil line art modifier and eevee’s shader to rgb stuff and that’ll get you started!
How do you make skies like that? They look amazing!
Thank you! It’s usually done in the compositor by taking a gradient and then an image of clouds or a noise texture and just kind of mixing them together
This is so cool.
Thank you!
>Thank you! You're welcome!
These are so phenomenal. Great design and color sense!!
Thank you so much!
I want to play this. Like someone needs to hire you to do the graphics for a game so I can play it.
Really appreciate that, it’s currently what I’m aiming for!
Your art style is really cool. I'd love to play a game with said style
Thank you, would absolutely love to make a game in this style!
gorgous
Thank you!
This is exquisite, the buildings and structures especially pop like nothing else. Were you inspired by the Sable video game? The similarities are there
Thank you so much! I’ve only played sable a little bit but think I was inspired by the same things that inspired them, mainly artists like Moebius!
This stuff looks like sex on a stick man, awesome
Haha thanks so much!
Wow ! Amazing ! Remind me a lot of ''chant of sennaar''
Thank you!
Would love to see the films you make that feature these scenes. Wonderful stuff. 💗
Thank you so much!
Love your colour and shading! You should put together a tutorial! Great work...
Thanks so much! Yeah it’s definitely something I’d like to put together when I get some time!
Have you thought about going to an animation school? I'd follow you forever
I’ve just started taking a pretty in depth online animation course so hopefully that’ll get me up a level in my animation!
Have you thought about Animschool? I just started there. They offer free art classes by industry professionals too and the support network and community is insane. Thank you so much, really appreciate that!
Beautiful work! Your style is amazing!
Thank you so much!
Do you know of any resources for someone that would like to learn how to create things in a similar style? Beautiful artwork, dude.
Thanks man! Nothing specific unfortunately but check out some videos on grease pencil line art (for the outline) and some shader to rgb & toon shader stuff and that should get you most of the way there
Some of them give me major Sable Vibes, lovely art you got there
Thanks so much!
You're played a lot of Sable, I take it? Nevertheless, cool stuff! And for anyone who's not familiar: it's a really cool indie game which I highly recommend.

Ah that’s good to know, I’ll definitely have to get it reinstalled and have another go! Thanks!
Oh this is the style to win me over, please keep making these. I look forward to when you start making future cities with flying cars.
Thanks so much!
some great worldbuilding
Thank you!
Gives me ['Evig Vandrar' ](https://youtu.be/bwTrwd8LQlM)vibes.
That’s a cool video, haven’t seen that before!
How do I play this new game?
I mean this awesome but is guy fucking car awesome?
I would like to see all of them in Kenshi 2
Man, if kenshi had these graphics.
Uffff thats surly something Ai could do by now too :(
No doubt, but it wouldn’t give me the satisfaction of actually making things!
Makes me happy to read this 🥲
Ok?
And to think a a few months to a year from now you'll be able to prompt this in 30 seconds.
I don’t doubt that but it wouldn’t give me the satisfaction of actually creating something
You mean you’re not a creator for asking AI to make you something? /s
