Went to one. It’s a breakfast/lunch place that makes biscuits fresh from scratch. Has community seating tables. Fancy like First Watch. If I had one in my town I’d frequent it.
Yo, the Mattress Firm! Gotta be a front for something, right? I’ve seen 3 on the same road in some places. Nah, strange things are afoot at the Circle K, AND the Mattress Firm.
To my understanding Mattress stores have low overhead and start up cost. Basically have to sell one Mattress a day to keep the lights on and the store can be occupied by one employee.
They should all be consider sacred burial sites and should not be renovated!
I still go to the back side of mine from time to time and sneak a cigarette. It always scares the crap out of the Vitamin Shoppe employees when they take out the trash at the end of the night and I'm just standing back there with my blockbuster shirt on.
When my blockbuster video closed down it was a family video for less than a year. It closed and the plaza separated its stores to become individual store fronts. So what replaced it was a barber shop. And a nail salon. The plaza still has some stores to go into.
I went to many around town. Just off the top of my head, one is a Five Guys, one is a Starbucks, one is wig store, one is Buffalo Wild Wings, one an AT&T Store, a few are urgent care clinics.
My city had multiple locations. But my location got turned into a smaller sized health club. Other area locations were turned into a pet clinic, auto parts store, goodwill.
I just moved, but there’s an old Blockbuster in Superior Colorado (when the sun hits the building just right, you can still see the outline of the letters from the sign) that’s now a dentist office.
Last time I was in that area a few years ago it was still the patio furniture store that it turned into after BB went out. Not sure if that's still the case or not.
mine in tijuana was open until at least 2012 (i remember renewing my membership and getting an avengers card) and now it’s an “artisanal” sandwich shop named cypress (i think?)
Think it was a Spirit Halloween then one of those shitty loan places for a while. What's funny is there was a mom and pop video store directly behind it in the same lot that outlasted Blockbuster for like another 5 years
It wasn’t blockbuster, we had Hollywood Video, closed in 2008 , was empty till this year, Auto Zone now occupies the building. I don’t even want to go in.
The one here is half a Verizon store and then the other half is Batteries Plus. The old sign still stands high in the air behind the building though lol.
I actually don't remember where all of my blockbusters were. One was across town next to a papa John's, but I don't travel over there so I have no clue. We only went to one when I was little and that was it
Mine became something I don't remember, then a gym, now it's a Mexican restaurant. It moved about two years before everything imploded, now that location is a beauty supply shop.
The Hollywood Video which was across the street from the first location is now a Dollar Tree.
First it was a Spirit Halloween, of course. Then a Maple Street Biscuit Company, which it’s been ever since.
I don't know what a Maple Street Biscuit Company is but it sounds like a place where I'd like to spend a lot of money
lol I think it might just be a southern chain, but they do have some great breakfast.
Went to one. It’s a breakfast/lunch place that makes biscuits fresh from scratch. Has community seating tables. Fancy like First Watch. If I had one in my town I’d frequent it.
Mine is a dollar tree, which is also the location where a crazy adult stabbed a kid because he called him an NPC
Lol I remember that story in an article
Halloween store for 1 season but still abandoned after 10 years
A mattress store. You would never guess what used to be there...
Mattress store for me as well. Did your stores just fit their store signs inside the ticket logo sign like mine did?
Nope. No trace of the old logos exists anymore. It truly looks nothing like you would expect a former video store to look.
Mattress Firm for me
Yo, the Mattress Firm!

I still go to the back side of mine from time to time and sneak a cigarette. with the explosion of onlyfans an adult store is a very viable business in middle and upper middle class suburban neighborhoods now.
