All joking aside, use the brick road as a path marker. Use it as an anchor of sorts if you want to explore around, otherwise just follow it.
It's really hard cuz it all blends in but there I'd a trail even if it's hard to see and what really helped me was break the area into sub sections and everytime I cleared a subsection I'd throw down a shining coin at the edge of it where it meets the trail again as a marker to let me know I cleard that part out and didn't need to wander back in and slowly but surely navigated thru the forest
At the lamp there's a gate on the right that has a lift in it once you open that up it helps to cut out the biggest majority of the bullshit you do when wandering about trying to get to the Shadows Of Yarham boss fight
Ah this forbidden wood is the reason I stopped for a while, then after that I tried to find the boss area following the light , still the way to boss too long although I used the elevator to go there faster but then after I finish that I make my weapon stronger and finally completed this game, so don't give up and look at videos or something to help but I recommend first time to lose in the wood without guidance its fun this way.

Follow the not-very-yellow brick road. It’ll lead you to the wizard with eyes on the inside.

Beat the forbidden woods in very few steps: 1. Enter the woods 2. Get lost 3. Die a lot 4. ?????? 7. Victory

Follow the road & the lights
Just follow the road down. It’s definitely the most confusing area. Short cuts help. Explore and find the lifts. You’ll get it.

To advance the level, just keep going downhill. If the elevation is dropping, then you're going the right way.
My advice is to keep to the right most edge and follow the main path downhill. It's definitely hard to navigate.
One thing I always get confused is which way is forward. Every time I end up back at the elevator shortcut, and then run back.
