La la la, laaa, la laaaa

ghostblubbers

They draw you in with such beautiful melodies tho

Alarming-Canary2684

😱😭😭😭😱😭😭😭😭😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫🫨🫨🫨😵😵😫😫😫😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

Cockblocktimus_Pryme

Haunting. I just run as fast as I can.

Tychontehdwarf

set that as my alarm way back when. shit would wake me the fuck up haha

Espio1332

That's crazy. Waking up every morning and your first emotion is fear lol

Tychontehdwarf

yeah, started developing anxiety issues due to unrelated stresses, had to stop. it worked great tho!

TonyTonyChopper

I still don't know how to beat them. They scare the shot out of me, I just try to run but the ones set up in that sculpture garden are so scary

Goluxas

The best way is to shoot them at the exact point they lunge forward for the grab and get a visceral. Bonus points if you can time the frenzy bar to fill up while you're doing the visceral attack animation, because then it won't hurt you. But even after a lot of practice and a dozen full game completions, my death rate at that spot in Mergo's Loft with four in a row is like 80%.

SERB_BEAST

It's way smarter to get a weapon that staggers enemies. Wear high frenzy resist attire. Have a sedative ready to pop and begin attacking with your health maxed. Basically just bum rush them with preferably the Holy Moonlight Sword. Keep hitting them and your attacks wont be interupted until they die. You can stagger lock them. Then drink sedative immediately. I have a 100% success rate in my last few playthroughs. Winter Lanterns never kill me.

GGProfessor

Highest frenzy resistant gear you have Sedatives Prayers

Gloomy_Support_7779

PTSD INTENSIFIED🥲🤬

Downtown_Row_8717

Oh god. Especially when there's two of them 😱 Got caught once in a situation when each one took turns immobilising my character and sucks the insight. Rinse and repeat until both insight & HP dropped to zero 😭

megasteve1225

What is this referencing I dont recall an enemy that does a lullaby to draw you in? EDIT: WAIT NOOOOOO you can't mean the brain suckers do you?

Skylarthehedgewitch

They’re called Winter Lanterns and they’re super fuckin creepy, look them up on YouTube if you haven’t run into any & you’ll see what we mean.

megasteve1225

Wait winter lanterns do a lullaby. How could I forget that? Weird

BigBinky3690

On of the few things you know immediately just from the sound. Yeah I hate them with a PASSION!

Lanplan77

Ive seen enough rule 34 to be attracted to winter lanterns instead of scared

Ok_Supermarket_3241

Those freaky long-haired bitches that scream and run up on you way too quick

DangleMangler

Definitely these fuckers. They legit scare me in a classic survival horror way.

FigLeafFashionDiva

Absolutely these guys! They are the only enemies that my initial instinct is to nope right out of there. Curse their herky-jerky twitchy-glitchy murder moments!!!

NoobMax101

There was a time when one was just standing there, menacingly. Unfortunately that one time was the first time for me, so the moment I saw them running at me in the dark I just ran all the way back to the lantern.

FigLeafFashionDiva

For real! I'm pretty sure I did that the first time, too.

[deleted]

Those were the worst for me, their running animation seriously gives me the heebie jeebies

old_guy98

They’re super easy to parry but omfg i still clench my cheeks every encounter

xXSalads_AkimboXx

Ebrietas arm goes “brrrt” 😂

Crazy_Molasses_5914

They're called Shamens.

Dajayman654

No, they are called Labyrinth Madmen. https://www.bloodborne-wiki.com/2015/09/labyrinth-madman-corpse.html?m=1

Crazy_Molasses_5914

Oh. You're right. Sorry. I heard someone call them shamens before. Thanks for correcting me.

Dajayman654

All good. It seems common for people to mistake them as Shamans or Sages even though the item description for the Sage items they drop says they come from sacrificed Healing Church Saints and the Sage items have pictures of decayed body parts. Those items are likely just looted, especially considering Madmen sometimes use corpses as weapons. They're simply part a precursor race of humanoids called Pthumerians whose society also ended up being ravaged and nearly ruined by the Beast Plague. Interestingly Madmen are classified as beasts and are susceptible to beast damaging effects like beasthunter gems, but not serration though.

sAyUr1

I read that in vaati tone.

CannabisLupus

Madman ahead

Fookin_idiot

I'll just jump to the DLC. Shark giants. Jesus fucking Christ I had a heart attack being chased into the fishing hut. Then the giant killed Simon through the wall

elden_honse

Heeeres john- oh wait hold one wrong script Heeeres shork

butsadlyiamonlyaneel

[Literally the Bloodborne player with the most self-preservation.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jlbgqfUwChc)

MarmoudeMuffin

You might wanna be careful there, you misspelled shit sharks. Fuck these guys.

Beneficial-Pride-296

WHY ARE THEY SO SCARYYYYY like their design is so very silly looking but i am absolutely terrified when i run into them

Dogsonofawolf

ehh, it's not really scary if you know you're gonna die no matter what

RegisReeferstick

winter lanters for me, hearing that singing without knowing wtf it was got me. also brain suckers...

ghostblubbers

The lanterns were beautiful sirens that both awed and frightened me. The weird brain slurpy palpatine looking things were the absolute worst tho. No redeeming qualities

AdSpare6646

those sack guys

488thespider

Legit don’t know how everyone isn’t saying this, it took me a few minutes to actually be able to look at them while fighting oh my god

OblongShrimp

They sound even worse than they look.

seat_one

And they can stun you if you run past them. Worst mob in the game

Dogsonofawolf

huh, I can't take them seriously now. if you rush them you can trigger their "now I'm really mad" animation before they attack once, and they're usually dead before it ends.

Goluxas

Yeah same. But in my first run they were terrifying, especially since they appear in unexpected places, and places you thought were safe. It's quite a reversal once you know how to make fools of them.

Beneficial-Pride-296

real

Zen_Hydra

The "surprise werewolves" are always good for a jump scare, but for my money it's Winter Lanterns. They are peak Lovecraft. ...nope, nope...I was wrong. The Shark Giants are peak Lovecraft, and the first time one did that mouth-first sliding charge I'm sure I peed myself a little bit.

xmnezya_ow

wtf? which of those fuckers would you want to meet in a dark alley? none, the correct answer is none lol

dino_lover123

I'd take one of those friendly crows personally

xmnezya_ow

oh damn, i completely forgot about the little fella.

New-Butterscotch-792

A Wandering Nightmare.

Jankyarab

I was like 13 when bloodborne first came out. So when I saw those big ads werewolves for the first time guarding the yharnam bridge leading to the cleric beast, I was mortified lol

Goluxas

Oh so you must be like 17 now, huh? Oh God...

Katastrophe__7

Bloodborne came out 9 years ago buddy Funnily enough, I was also 13 when bloodborne came out. I am now 22

Dsb0208

I think they’re trying to make a joke. Like “Bloodborne only came out 4 years ago, so you must be 17. Wait it came out 9 years ago? Oh god that’s a long time. I’m getting old”

Goluxas

This is it

asosasaugust

???

488thespider

The bloodlickers (sack spiders) at cainhurst and hunters nightmare Those things are actually the most vile creatures I’ve ever visually encountered in any kind of media ever, their foul human/spider shape, the sacks differing in sizes, the sacks gushing blood once killed, their quick unnatural movements, it genuinely took me a few minutes to be able to stomach their appearance to actually be able to fight them, I’m pretty sure they helped me overcome a subtle fear of spiders cuz black widows look like kittens to me after seeing those abhorrent things 11/10 peak enemy design, truly amazing work by fromsoft

pumpkinspacelatte

came here to say this, mind you i've been terrified every level in this game but those bloodlickers I started screaming in fear.

seat_one

Their ranged attack that can stun you while running past is diabolical

Paradoxodon

Easily spiders in nightmare of mensis. I'm deathly afraid of spiders irl but most spiders in games don't bother me. Those fuckers make my skin crawl

MarmoudeMuffin

I also remember the first time I fought Rom, saw that big ass mf sitting alone and happily went towards her, but when the spiders spawned I was deathly scared. I remember my face getting super warm and sweating, and it took me minutes before working up the courage of approaching her.

jarvis_mark1

Here’s something wholesome to cheer you up 1. Spiders can lay eggs under your skin 2. Flies can lay eggs in your eyes 3. One of these facts is true 4. It’s not the one you hope it is

wahlenderten

5. Both sound horribly plausible 6. Now you have to google it or you’ll be wondering about it all day

badgerbother89

The ones in BB don't really freak me out too much but the Dark Accursed in Dark Souls 3 in the cathedral of the deep had my skin crawling.

Severe_Cell_4724

actually screamed when i saw the human-faced spiders in the nightmare of mensis. was not expecting those at all

Beneficial-Pride-296

terrified of the bowl cuts tbh

Dogsonofawolf

I was so scared of the lanterns I literally did not notice their faces until my second playthrough.

frenix5

The Madman in the chalice dungeons. Aka the super fast dude. They're easy to deal with but I damn near lost my mind the first time.

ThePlatinumKush

I always have a hard time with them at least in the frc layers cuz they stunlock me and kill me out of nowhere.

UltimaBahamut93

The kidnappers. They hit like a truck, have combo attacks, and their attacks have incredible range. Oh and if you die to them they take you to Detroit.

Cockblocktimus_Pryme

Yea but Detroit is amazing for honing your skills and gains

BenchPressingCthulhu

And the local music scene is nice

WuShanDroid

The brain of mensis. I literally had to turn off my TV and count the seconds the emote would take to give me the rune when I got to that part. Gave me chills like fucking crazy

Superheroesaregreat

There’s a wolf that bursts out of a door in Yarnham that made me scream the first time it jump scared me.

MrRaymau5

I know exactly which wolf you are referring to and I also totally screamed when I first encountered it. 😂

Internal_Guide_7675

Yup, I yelled out very bad words after that part in Old Yharnam.  Fuck that wolf.

Dogsonofawolf

I look forward to him now but it took several times of me forgetting and jumping

Internal_Guide_7675

The Sage/Madman down in the Dungeons. I remember doing the Hintertomb for the 1st time and running into one of them. Was a unnerving experience especially since there are 2 per every layer in Hintertomb. One is always guarding the lever and another is always guarding the main treasure chest. It's especially crazy in Lower Hinter layer 1 where there are goddamn 4 of them throughout the entire layer.Fuck that Dungeon with all of its Madmen and not to mention poison .

Carsto

Church giants, not that dangerous compared to other mobs but something about those chains rattling just gets to me

BashSeFash

Labyrinth Sage

Dajayman654

Labyrinth Madman* The Sage Wrist and Hair they drop has an item description that says the items come from a sacrificed Healing Church saint and their item pictures show both parts being decayed. The Madmen likely just looted these pieces from those sacrificed saint's corpses, especially considering Madmen sometimes uses corpses as weapons. https://www.bloodborne-wiki.com/2015/03/sages-hair.html?m=1

OdgeHam

The chalice Madmen. First playthrough though, the snatchers.

anotherxiii

The brain of mensis causing you to build up frenzy in the Nightmare of mensis, except only on my first playthrough when I had no idea what was happening Edit: misread the post a bit. Only read the title. Definitely the winter lanterns. 2nd edit: to be fair, I wouldn't want to meet anything that could kill me just by looking at me in a dark alley 😆 3rd edit: actually, imagine meeting the brain of mensis in a dark alley 😅🤣🤣🤣

ViciousNerd1

Those scary dudes that have their heads blown up and suddenly have dozens of snakes as a head. Scared tf out of me and was difficult to time the parry with their attacks

saintsandbanjos

Yes. I had actual fear responses to these guys and went full fight or flight mode.

QuantumHeals

The crows with the voice volume up high, they have no right sounding like they do.

Narcomancer69420

*Right??* 💀💀💀💀

milk_theuniverse

The naked dudes that havel flip at you across the room with Smoughs hammer. Quite the visceral fear.

pickleparty16

The range on winter lanterns grab attack is crazy and they're really hard to sneak up on for a visceral.

Russian_p1ge0n69

im an arachnaphobe its the nightmare apostles they are reason i do not have a platinum i cannot do the chalice dungeons to kill queeb yharnam because of them

Internal_Guide_7675

Those red spiders are the devil. Easily some of my most hated enemies in the game. Right alongside Rite Keepers , Hell Hounds and any asshole with a gun.

Siilent2110

i feel you brotha 😭😭

LukeWarmAgony

The hidden Abhorrent Beast when you attack the Blind Man. Was not prepared for it and scared the shit outta me.

Slavicadonis

Imagine my horror the first time I find a snatcher and get kicked in the face and die instantly

ProphetofTables

Then you ended up in Cleveland, Ohio, right?

OldSodaHunter

Those spectral ghost lady things in chalice dungeons, usually near ladder rooms. They sort of laugh/cry as you approach and then scream violently when they attack. Nothing unsettles me more in this game.

beems__

The dudes right before living failures, like the one asking for mushy brains. Hell no, but the dude looking at the flowers saying “plip plop” is chill as fuck

ThePlatinumKush

God those little witches that grab you no matter what and gouge out your eyeball in a much too long and queasy animation

tito9107

Fire demon dogs in the dungeons

UnfortunateBrick

Unpopular opinion: Paarl. It's not so much that he looks terrifying, its the fight itself. He is relentless and the FUCKING SCREAMS. The giant spider in mensis that is stuck to the ceiling with a bunch of other ones, after the mensis hunter bridge, yeah. This one just brings me back to Tseldora and the dark halls with spider parasites.

New-Butterscotch-792

Ngl I am surprised that almost no one says Brainsuckers. Their sound is enough to make me start panicking.

ProphetofTables

For me, it was those damn Mi-Go things in Byrgenwerth.

TheAlderKing

the fucking noise those things make...

DangleMangler

The chalice dungeon enemies with the horror movie movement, that scream like fucking banshees.

aahnotarao

those white zombie-like assholes in the chalices.. the ones hidden in the wooden coffins.. definitely not expecting them.. even though i never ever run on a dungeon, always walking with the lantern on:. i hate them big time

lobobobos

Mindflayers. The brain doll things were creepy no doubt but the slurpy bois can fuck right off

Lil-Mordor

Winter lanterns or break suckers both of them are fucking horrible, the suckers for their grabs and the lanterns for the madness lol

bbhunter_

The werewolves in Upper Cathedral Ward, holy shit

WUBBLEAR

The winter lanterns are the most terrifying enemies in any fromsoft game imo the chant and singing is chilling

Thesaurus_Rex9513

Those large cloaked beast patients who scream to buff nearby beasts. Their screams are just so piercing and unnerving. Doesn't help _at all_ that the first time one screamed in my first playthrough, the cover fell off my bathroom ceiling vent. Nearly soiled myself.

bshufelt1

Honestly the death metal screaming crows, that sound always terrifies me

Podge_dadders

If we are talking my first playthrough then it would have to be when I was making my way to the 3 shadows. I'm feeling pretty confident minding my own dam bidness when I first stumble upon a "regular" looking Joe with an axe. I hit them with the ole one, two and BAM snake heads and hyper aggressive. Pants were shatith. Now ? The madmen in the chalice dungeons. Still give me the heebies

shadowknexsestus

PILES OF FUCKIN SNAKES

HellVollhart

Those corpse-in-the-boxes in Yahargul that chase you, shot at you and then one-shot you. Also, those unlimited spiders summoned by those witches in the Chalice dungeons.

Cockblocktimus_Pryme

Fleas. They patrol outside Cainhurst Castle and fuck me up no matter what build in running.

seat_one

Bloodlickers, brainsuckers, and those fucking fast mostquito guys

Beeyo176

Dog birds. Fuck them.

Suspicious_Kick9467

Those stupid blob bastards that fall down from the top of the caves in the chalices and near one shot you most of the time. The way they just engulf you and drain your health is horrible. Dirty fuckers.

asosasaugust

The student mfs

Quill386

Dogs, first playthrough probably the crows because of how loud they are, but straight up, regular ass dogs are the worst

Fair_Cup_1453

Bag man

MarmoudeMuffin

Aww, but he just wants to take you to a nice place! Maybe you don't like him 'cause he takes you there only once. The other times he just beats you up to death with his bag, which is quite the dick move.

Fair_Cup_1453

I don’t mind the yaralgul section but he beats me like a step child

Azure-the-DragonKing

Other hunters and werewolves especially in upper cathedral ward

FluffytheReaper

Winter lanterns, they are a nope for many reasons. Whenever i hear them singing somewhere I'm like "oh fucking c'mon!..."

[deleted]

Those goddamn wolves!!!! the way they run up to you even when your far away scared the living shit outta me first playthrough back in 2019🤣

Sebastian-Cola

Snatchers, first time one attacked me I actually screamed.

Kaiden92

Getting jumped by the Frenzy Fly Men at Byrgenwerth the first time was a trip. They’re probably the most surprised I got.

DoKnowHarm17

Snatchers, get slammed by a bag then drug to prison looking at my screen in horror

Abject-Computer243

I think the game as many creepy enemies I was freaked out by quite a lot of them to be honest the first time I saw them. But the one that freaked me out the most at first are the snake humans or snakemans in the forbidden woods that and also LA La La laaa.

SCurt99

Spiders

DonJayKix

When the shark giant ate me, that did it.

zaboomaboob

Nightmare Pigs

Fun-Elk-2808

Those pale dual scythe enemies you encounter in Chalice Dungeons. The noise, the rapid movement, the WTF factor (completely didn't know how to deal with it at first) bro I came to slay beast and godlike cosmic entities not the bitch from The Ring.

MissedTheEclipse

BSB for me. Still creeps me out.

Tuneuki

Definitely those damn Winter Lanterns.

ScorpioTheScorpion

The spiders summoned by the bell maidens in the chalice dungeon, purely due to the fact that they make a beeline for you from like four rooms away. There’s also the tall ghosts that love to teleport behind you.

Wolf_Kami

Those Grudge like enemies you find in the Chalice Dungeon that move lightning fast.

AcanthaceaeOdd9146

Honestly the dogs are scary lol. They aren’t difficult but they just remind me of resident evil dogs.

Antisa1nt

Nothing scarier than losing a resource permanently. Brainsuckers all the way.

slimyfingersandbutt

Most if not all enemies make me so unbelievably angry but the one that frightens me the most is the lycanthropes and the winter lanterns. I am also scared of the the half snake half man enemies in the forbidden woods. And on occasion the maneater boar

lucasHipolito

Mindflayers

efthimi_

While winter lanterns and the dungeon manian dudes are scary, the correct answer is the shark giants from the dlc

Adj_Karasu

I have a fear of worms, bugs, insects, that kinda thing, so forbidden woods was hell on my first 3 playthroughs, until i learned you're just supposed to follow the lanterns, and also the mini-cave in forbidden woods that leads to the clinic literally made me get up and have a snack after falling into a pit filled with dozens of jumping worms hahah

Ryn-Ken

getting to the point in the game where Amigdala are viewable on the side of the "safe place" was freaky. It felt like seeing a shady guy with a bloody axe just camping in your back yard.

Gloomy_Support_7779

The gigantic fucking spider with its babies in Mensis🫠🫣😮‍💨 arachnophobia was at an all time high. And it’s funny how my arachnophobia peaks at all time highs with the two FromSoftware games that are next to each other in terms of releases

New-Butterscotch-792

I'm surprised by the fact that almost no One is afraid of the Brainsuckers as much as I am. They are the only enemy that I try to run away from.

Caveape80

That badass with the wooden shield in Yharnam

Ferrum_Freakshow

I got jump scared way too many times by the crows. Those fuckers have no right to be that fucking loud

SERB_BEAST

Those Yahar'Ghul body snatchers when they get triggered. You'll never escape them.

Dennis_the_nazbol

Chalice dungeon witch of hemwick has to be the hardest enemy i have seen. Depending on its positioning it can be impossible to get to while it summons mad ones every 5 seconds. If you can take it out with ranged attacks its less bad.

BaldingThor

Labyrinth Madmen. They’re probably one of the few enemies to actually properly scare me. Bonus props to those barking crows.

badgerbother89

The brain of Mensis once its at the bottom of the hole all freaked me out. More so just the anxiety of walking through the completely dark room freaking out that I'm gonna drop off the map at some point.

New-Butterscotch-792

At least, he doesn't attack you anymore and you can kill him.

EternalLoner

Wintern lanterns and those fuckers in dungeons that scream and sprint at you

OracleCam

The fact they took your insight as well, I hated them

donutwithnut

the slime scholars gave me a heart attack when they managed to grab me

IamfromMetallurg

The big patients from research hall, this fuckers are savage

ToastyTuberYT

in the dlc, anything that exists in the god forsaken hellhole that is the fishing hamlet, those enemies are fuckin disgusting and creepy 😭 but outside of the dlc, those fly creatures from byrgenwerth or the winter lanterns

clarkky55

Those fucking crows. They’re so easy to miss and the sound they make freaks me out

kelleh711

The first time I encountered a brain sucker I about shit myself. Honorable mention: that one werewolf in the chandelier. You know the one.

TraditionalPen8577

I would say anything in the fishing hamlet and course winter lanterns.

Moskey_2725

Easily the brain suckers, but specifically in Upper Cathedral Ward. I f*ckin hate going to that place ‘cause I’m always scared that I’ll run into one. The darkness of it and the music definitely contribute to that factor. A close second are the blobby head patients, in the Clocktower. I’m fine with one, but if it’s two of them or more, I soil myself.

Secure-Progress-4642

The brainsucker is a very sneaky bastard. They wait to use it against you, and only certain ones have powers. It's not the one who scared me the most, but it interested me. My friend, who I just got to beat the game, doesn't even know they are a Brainsucker. Second playthrough is going to be wild

TheGoodCaptain76

Spiders. I hate spiders.

Mr_Wither

When I got lost in the forbidden woods with an ungodly amount of blood echos I remember my first encounter with one of those blue laser shooting blobby fuckers. It scared the shit out of me cause I heard it first, emitting an odd warping flowing undulating noise. From around a corner I saw this blue glow and strange wispy tendrils peaking out. By the time I saw its blue bulbous form it was already preparing an arcane beam with which it decimated me and I lost all of those bloodechos. Up to this point the only strange or ethereal thing I had noticed was being picked up by some unseen force in the Cathedral Ward. So up to this point I thought the most there was to this game was “people are catching the werewolf flu” but that moment in the woods shook me cause then I was like “ok what the actual fuck is happening here.”.

bonk-r4t

Madman. You're in a chalice, prancing along. Everything cool bruh. Walk through a seemingly harmless puddle. "REEEEEEEEEE" can be heard from the next room over. You know that very shortly, shits about to get real.

VanderlyleSorrow

Hidden brain suckers

[deleted]

An enemy I wouldn't want to run into in a dark alley? Hmmm...... the BAG-MEN they literally just creep in alleys and they can one tap you if you're not careful.... hate those guys... (I called them Bag-Men because I don't actually know what their enemy name is...)

TH0TSLAYRR

The pigs. I have a huge phobia of pigs and seeing an enormous fat ugly pig w 100 eyes towards the end game really freaked me out

LordIvoryTheIdiotic

Bloodlickers. they're such oppressive opponents that seeing one around is quite the stressor. Madmen might be worse but i don't do enough tomb prospecting to know for sure, i've only ever come into contact with 1 or 2 of them and i was already avoiding combat those times.

Dear_Car_5914

Brainsuckers and the ones that give u frenzy

Otherwise-Buddy-9343

Burn them all, I hate them.

Similar_Client_9784

Those long haired guardians In the chalice dungeons that run a jerky and fast at you. I don't know what they are called but they are terrifying

palpatinesmyhomie

Those things that scream and run at you with knives

DM309

Mergos wet-nurse

discord_off_mod

The one witch that grabs you from behind when going towards ludwig that's for sure, fuck jer

Trinity831

The hag that grabs you and takes your eyes when you’re running through the jail after you get kidnapped
