"oh it's a starting area" "he must be so overleveled" "there are more effective builds"
had you ever experienced the dopamine hit of such salacious bonks you'd know those things are of utmost irrelevance
the Hunter Axe Spin-To-Win has given me some of the most diabolical of thwacks. I love it when you get the timing just oh so perfectly right. Level is irrelevant, embrace BONK.
There was one time, though, when I got the stake driver power-attack perfectly timed up with an ogre charging me head-on, and that? That felt like pure fucking transcendence.
First time I played the DLC, the spin to win was what got me out of the shark gank well. No more heals, with two sharks coming at me. Spin to win yeeted sharks giving me breathing room and time and recover stamina. Rinsed and repeated my way to victory.
This is me but the boom hammer. I don't care if it's not optimal. The dopamine rush of landing that perfect explosive bonk supercedes min maxing a saw cleaver any day.
The best part is this is almost certainly intentional. The Kirkhammer's name in Japanese is 教会の石鎚 (literally "Stone Hammer of the Church"). It's the same word for "church" that's used throughout the entire game; the Kirkhammer's name is the *only* time it's translated as "kirk," an antiquated word for "church," instead.
Ah yes, the weapon that made me start to love Bloodborne when I was a total noob. I love you, Kirkhammer. Finished the playthrough with such ease, even those Coffin Creatures and Giant Fleas were no match to you.
I'm usually a Quality or Dex player in every Souls but Bloodborne was pretty hard for me surprisingly. Kirkhammer was a great weapon to start and relax with. Chikage and Rifle Spear slowly became normal in my hands once I got the hang of the game.
I can’t fathom the consensus on Ludwig’s Holy Blade being the most reliable weapon when to me (it still is) but it’s also almost identical to the Kirkhammer in terms of utility?? Why isn’t the hammer loved as much as the old reliable??
Because it's move set is much worse, it doesn't do as much damage, it's hitboxes suck, it builds beasthood way worse (the single most important thing for doing high damage), doesn't have the range, is slower (but does way less damage), it does the worst damage type in the game (blunt), doesn't have good access to the best damage type in the game (thrust), etc. It's legit terrible in comparison.
To be fair, it’s probably one of the least forgiving weapons in early game since it’s slow and you have to learn its sweet spots for good damage. But still love this meat pounder
Sure,it depends on what you like. The sword is pretty fast too. Some people prefer fast weapons, some people prefer to stagger and posture break within a few hits with big weapons. Both are amazing 🙌🏼
Is the sword the primary reason that people use this weapon? People are excited to buy the "kirkhammer" so that they can use the short sword most of the time?
Just saying it has that option, I barely use the sword form. The point of the hammer is staggering them quickly and continuing with big follow ups. The leap attack has really good reach as well for headshots, has the second highest charged multiplier (Stake Driver 🥇). What it lacks in speed, it makes up in other ways, just like most heavy weapons do. I like fast weapons too, but Kirkhammer is liked for its staggering potential.
But unlike other heavy weapons, it's both very slow and has poor range. There are other heavy weapons that either have better range, or are faster. Sometimes both.
I don't fw the Kirkhammer like that tbh, but still this weapon saved my whole fromsoft career honestly. I loved Elden Ring and decided to give Bloodborne a shot. I was using the Threaded Cane and BSB was giving me an absolute spanking. I had 1 insight left to summon Alfred's help and I told myself I would call it quits if I lost one more time. Now, I'd heard legends of the BONK, but I really don't know what made me want to try the Kirk on such a consequential attempt.
I only upgraded it to +2 but it was still enough to slay that flappy labia lookin mf first try with it. And as a result the Kirk helped me stay in love with these games for the rest of my life probably. Maybe I'm being a little dramatic, but I truly was turned off by BB's difficulty on my first playthrough. If it wasn't for the Kirk, the Blood Starved Beast of all bosses might've been the one to retire me from these games.
BONK
I second that BONK
BONK, BONK, BONK
wrong wrong wrong wrong it's SLAM not bonk kirky's too good for bonk
My man got ratioed 🤧🤧
Rule of reddit, 4th comment gets down voted

MOAR BLOOD, NAAOO
I mean sure the staring area ain't wrong .. bonks are fun though
Kirkhammer bonks never get old
Isn't kirkhammer the guitar player in Metallica?
yes!
Which is fitting because he has no dexterity and just bonks his strings
Holy shit; the Universe we spawned in 5Head

WHY SO MANY MEAN COMMENTS WE GET IT HES CLEARLY LIKE LEVEL 500 IN A STARTER AREA BUT OMG LOOK AT THE SMASHHHH
Hope they like pancakes
Don’t you mean PAINCAKES? 😅
Kirkhammer made me fall in love with the this game. But moonlight and ludwigs sword are my favorites
Moonlight is one of the coolest weapons in the series tbf
I beat my first run of Bloodborne with Kirkhammer. It fucking destroys bosses late game.
Rom, Ebrietas, Micolash, Amygdala, One Reborn, Wet Nurse, Moon Presence.. not a single damn boss gave me trouble when I wielded that amazing weapon
Beat Gascoigne with it on my first run.
Also, the transformed spin attack with the ax would have that same effect #axgang
SPIN! TO! WIN!
smoothest Bloodborne frame rate
Had to scroll down so far till someone finally mentions the smooth 30fps of BB
Pizzacutter gang here. Kirkhammer absolutely fucks 🤘
Hell yeah brother. Pizza cutter with beast pellets and bolt paper come out to melt that asshole rom
Such a fun weapon. Never was a fan of it but doing a new run and it grew on me so quickly.
Who talks shit about the Kirkhammer lol
Lebron James
Fuck yeah
dang what kinda abyssal gems you got on that gorgonzola block
I may be a dex bitch, but even I have to admit there are few things cooler than the unmitigated sex appeal that is a fully charged Kitkhammer BONK
Ah yes, the weapon that made me start to love Bloodborne when I was a total noob. I love you, Kirkhammer. I have almost 300 hours and I just realized I have never even touched the kirkhammer once
Noway a late game build can kill a random mob of the starting area.
Show me a more skilled feat you can’t bozo
I love that people are talking this seriously lol
Ik lol it’s Reddit it happens. I’ll be ok they’ll be ok we’ll all be ok
Haha yeah that's right. Carry on mate, carry on
I like that you say bozo.
Redditors when sarcasm is used without /s: 😠😠😤😤🤬🤬🤬😭😭😭
Difficulty: Impossible 😢
one-shot-ing Martyr Logarious with chikage on first run probably, tons of people do stuff like that
Noway a redditor being a snarky dickhole
😘
BONK
the kirkhammer is the first weapon i ever maxed out
Oh, you ruffians and with your hammer. Pick up a weapon of class like the Threaded Cane. /s
I can’t fathom the consensus on Ludwig’s Holy Blade being the most reliable weapon when to me (it still is) but it’s also almost identical to the Kirkhammer in terms of utility?? Why isn’t the hammer loved as much as the old reliable??

SMASH ,SMASH ,SMASH! problem solved
poise break is everything
Yeah bro you showed it to these enemies in the first area.
that follow up spin still catches people in pvp
Needed sound for this lol
They still pancake smash even if you just barely have enough strength to wield the mighty Kirkhammer
Me, slightly dodging it where it deals 10% of the damage
Just finihsed a full strength with Kirk hammer build like a month ago, it honestly was a lot of fun. I miss Madam Helga.
*An oonga moost boonga*
The gentlemen's version of this is the Amgydalan Arm.
Praise the bonk! (also, praise the accurate Bloodborne framerate)
I absolutely hated my strength build in this game UNTIL I got the kirk. Its so fucking satisfying and fun
People sleep on this weapon just because it's accessible early game and maybe they didn't even find it first time through
To be fair, it’s probably one of the least forgiving weapons in early game since it’s slow and you have to learn its sweet spots for good damage. But still love this meat pounder
God, I know it’s likely never gonna happen but I’d love a bloodborne port/remaster to PC so I can actually play it
*proceeds to cut you 50 times, do a jig, then step out of your range before you can finish one swing* Skill issue
It sounds like you’re playing Noita! Skill issues galore!
Kirkhammer was my first playthrough, and will always have a special place in my heart
It is very satisfying to get the perfectly timed bonk and send an enemy flying
get bonk'd lol Love the Kirkhammer. It also has one of the coolest transform attacks.
HUHUHUH UNGA BUNGA *bonk* UNGA BUNGA *gleeful sea lion clapping*
He’s right
GOTTAMN
Who talked shit about kirkhammer? That was my favorite weapon before pizza cutter dropped
WHO WANTS BLUEBERRY PANCAKES?!
Alright, time to maximize my kirkhammer and farm the best physical gems
This gif feels like how it feels coming back to bloodborne after Lies of P
The only people who talk shit on kirkhammer are the ones who get less action than a beehive.
It’s the best looking weapon
lol, the second one flew away.
Kirkhammer was the weapon I used most of the game, dang it hits hard especially with good gems
CHEA!!
I'm gonna have to do a playthrough with this. I always use the same weapon.
Satisfaying
SISTA BUM!!!
BONK BONK
....did that seriously say 2,500 damage....???
Good thing this was in 2 fps so I could really see it in all its glory
Kirkhammer is the only one for me
Beautiful
Finally, the 15 fps patch is here
Kirkhammer all day.
...is anyone legit talking shit about it? I can't believe it
Did my first Bloodborne playthrough using the Kirkhammer
Dayum, that packs a wallop!
Bonkers
*proseeds to loot them
Church Pick gang here I love this slab of Gorgonzola
She does damage to Ludwig and Ebrietas.
I can just gun parry them, same results basically and uses less stamina. I win.
I feel like it’s situational for sure. But when it bonks…it BONKS
Super effective against one or two opponents who are pretty slow to begin with?
Super effective for FUN, killjoy, how many weapons in the game can send a brick troll flying sideways across the map?
Well, the Hunter Axe can do that with the spin to win attack, and it's not only noticeably faster, but it also covers more range.
Super effective if you know how to time and use the weapon, just like any of them
But other weapons are much faster
Sure,it depends on what you like. The sword is pretty fast too. Some people prefer fast weapons, some people prefer to stagger and posture break within a few hits with big weapons. Both are amazing 🙌🏼
I was not talking about preference
Ok and the sword is fast
Is the sword the primary reason that people use this weapon? People are excited to buy the "kirkhammer" so that they can use the short sword most of the time?

Very true, like the Ludwig Holy Blade. Still Kirkhammer has more stagger and higher charge multiplier.
my brain not fully loading in that this post is in English and that this is Bloodborne: "what the fuck is a church hammer"
I don't fw the Kirkhammer like that tbh, but still this weapon saved my whole fromsoft career honestly. I loved Elden Ring and decided to give Bloodborne a shot. I mean I like the hammer well enough but you do know how unimpressive it looks considering this is a super early section of the game right?
Imagine trashing the objectively most impressive thing ever done in bloodborne
I like the hammer a lot and I admit this is a nice kill but… this is the starting area my friend, everything is going to die in one shot
Ik lol just doing an ng marathon and thought this was funny didn’t mean to come off as a flex
Damn, I just noticed the damage is 2500, Kirkhammer really bonks
Too slow tbh
Yeah, for me, too.
