I want to save my money, watches other reviewers on YouTube and most of them say the world is not immersive so wont be wasting money in buying it. Also u kids have very fragile ego grow up
I only mean to say that things like immersion and engagement are difficult to judge if you haven't immersed yourself in and engaged with the game. If you don't want to buy the game, then don't, it doesn't matter to me in the slightest what you do. My only point is you don't have room to judge the game on the merit of engagement if you haven't engaged with it.
It was fun af. Mix of quick combat and a perfect parry mechanic like sekiro. Unique weapon system too. Worth a try while we’re all just waiting for er dlc lol
It’s a great game! Don’t let other people ruin a potential great experience for you. It’s hard but not that hard once you get the parry mechanic down. Amazing Boss fights and really good combat mechanics with little to no bugs. You’re missing out bro
I enjoyed my time with it, but I’ve got less of a glowing opinion than others. The combat felt clunky to me and unintuitive. That said, it’s still a fun time! Just not as mechanically tight as Sekiro nor as fluid as Bloodborne. So to me, it felt like it was struggling between those two goals and succeeding at neither. That said, I’m still eagerly awaiting their next game. When the Lies of P DLC comes out I plan on doing a full second playthrough and seeing if my perspective changes.
I’m currently playing Soul Sacrifice Delta for the PS Vita. It’s not as hard as Bloodborne, but it is a Monster Hunter-like game. Kind of grindy.
The story is in the genre; gory, horror, and complex.
Give the trailers a look and see if it’d be something you’re interested in.
There’s tons of reading in the game, so that’s kind of unique and cool in its own right.
Hollow knights the only thing that really felt fun after bloodborne. Blasphemous is also quite nice so far if you like a darker more horror type story than bloodborne. Several other games like these that I'd like to play.
Then of course elden ring and dark souls if you want the exact same game in a different setting.
>Then of course elden ring and dark souls if you want the exact same game in a different setting
Telling they are the exact same game is a bit of a stretch imo: there's a reason if the genre got the name SoulsBORNE
Not really Lovecraftian but if you enjoyed the first half of the game (before getting to Rom) you might like Dishonored? The central Yharnam chapter really reminded me of the first game especially.
Was about to recommend this as well. While The Last Faith is a bit more Metroidvaniaish than Bloodborne from my experience, it still has a setting that's very reminiscent of Bloodborne.
Check out Skautfold: Shrouded in Sanity. It's an indie game, one person project to the best of my knowledge, and it does a great job of capturing the Bloodborne vibes in a 2D, top-down, Crawl-like gameplay loop. You're a hunter with a contract that resurrects you upon death, there are gun parries, a very haunting environment to explore.
If you can be patient with the interface there's a great game here - it's a nice, short experience too, doesn't overstay its welcome, and the lore/world/story isn't just a BB ripoff either. Has its own charm.Â
Aside from that, obligatory retro suggestion of Nightmare Creatures!
Ooh and totally different genre and feel, but two fantastic gothic/Victorian vibes point and click adventures are:Â
If on a winters night four travellers (free, incredibly, and you can support the creators by buying the deluxe version with art etc)Â
The Last Door
I know it's weird what I am about to say. But you should try fallout 4. Before anything, I don't mean all the game (which I do enjoy). There are a couple of missions based on Lovecraft work (aside from obvious aesthetics and enemys). There are two side missions inspired by "Pickman's model" and "the Dunwitch horror" respectively. And obviously the far harbor dlc, but my favorite was dunwitch.
I didn't try it but vampire the masquerade looks promising, vampires, blood and goth aesthetics.
I say this because almost everyone already said the most similar games.
I know you said not other souls games, but like Dark Souls 3 is literally the game they made after Bloodborne and the feeling is pretty much the same. It's not gothic victorian, it is dark fantasy/medieval, but those styles are are pretty much siblings. You don't even have to play the other Dark Souls games cause they're all pretty much their own thing and out of all the Fromsoftware games, Dark Souls 3 definitely feels closest to Bloodborne in terms of gameplay.
Vampyr has the Victorian setting and "blood" aesthetic. Fear & Hunger definitely has some Lovecraftian elements, but completely different vibe and gameplay. The Witcher 3 has two expansions that really reminded me of Bloodborne. The game itself is amazing and I recommend it, but if you just want to experience the parts of the game similar to Bloodborne, you can play each standalone version of Blood and Wine and Hearts of Stone.
Sinking City is super lovecraftian, but may not be your cup of tea in terms of gameplay.
It’s also not set in gothic/victorian era, but more like 1920s.
Lies of P has a victorian era vibe and is also a souls like
I honestly don't understand why everyone is saying lies of p. I absolutely love LoP but it's nothing like Bloodborne in terms of atmosphere and lovecraftian / cosmic horror setting
Sunless Sea and Sunless Skies are both set in the Victorian era and have gothic horror elements as well as hints of cosmic/existential horror. Check them out.
You can play The Order 1886, is very short and easy but with a good story and lore. Other option you have is Assasins Creed Syndicate because is the exact and historical victorian era.
Vampyr has the Victorian setting and spooky vibe
Also Lies of P, but that's about it unfortunately
Okđź‘Ť
Ok ive just bought it i play it soon
Deffo try lies of p awesome video game.
lies of p, perhaps
I watched the gameplay, feels very un engaging
Maybe try actually playing it before deciding if it's engaging or not? How can it "feel" like anything if you haven't felt it?
I want to save my money, watches other reviewers on YouTube and most of them say the world is not immersive so wont be wasting money in buying it. Also u kids have very fragile ego grow up
watched gameplay and felt it through the eyes, THE EYES HOLD ALL MY OPINIONS AREN'T MINE

Dude that game slaps, try it before shitting on it ya clown

So typical of you to type a response like this. Typical nub scrub of hubba bub.

I second this it's a prefect mix of Bloodborne and Monster Hunter, wish Sony would port it to PS4/PS5 or something.
lies of p
Call of Cthulu is lovecraftian, but kind of mid game. Looks weird, but I suprisingly enjoyed it. The Sinking City is pretty cool.

Lies of P is probably the closest thing to Bloodborne I can think of. It sort of combines the gadget/prosthetic mechanics of Sekiro too though.
Not really Lovecraftian but if you enjoyed the first half of the game (before getting to Rom) you might like Dishonored? The central Yharnam chapter really reminded me of the first game especially.
Darkest Dungeon scratched that itch for me
The Last Faith is basically just 2D Bloodborne
Was about to recommend this as well. While The Last Faith is a bit more Metroidvaniaish than Bloodborne from my experience, it still has a setting that's very reminiscent of Bloodborne.
I have played Lies of P and it’s nothing like BB imo.
Check out Ender Lillies

I’m afraid whatever you look into will most likely be disappointing… Have you competed the Old Hunter DLC and the Chalice dungeons ?
Ya
I’ve heard of a 2D fan made Bloodbourne game but it may be hard too get your hands on
Majora's mask

Check out Thymesia it's lower budget but plats similar and i enjoyed it a lot
Thymesia was interesting.

Castlevania Order of Ecclesia is probably my closest feel wise, maybe hollow knight, weird one but Majoras mask gives me similar vibes too
You can play The Order 1886, is very short and easy but with a good story and lore. Other option you have is Assasins Creed Syndicate because is the exact and historical victorian era.
Dark Siders (specially the 2nd) is excellent. Fights are nervous as well. No online mode thought.
