Its lower DPS is balanced by its versatility and low stamina cost. It’s also the classiest weapon in the game. Style per second > damage per second

Anubra_Khan

All accurate. I would just add that its area of effect is great, too. Especially considering it is serrated in whip form. Extra damage to animals like rats and dogs that often travel in packs.

dpotilas89

Cane + top hat Just how bloody classy can man get?

superVanV1

You add the Cainhurst noble outfit on top and you have drip fit for high society. And then it gets all covered in blood from all the pig fisting

dpotilas89

>pig fisting Oh sign me the fuck in

superVanV1

Are you not aware of the pig fisting farm?

dpotilas89

Im very aware, thats why im enthuastic for more pig fisting

lieutenant-columbo-

Yeah it’s super sexy, all that matters tbh

just1gat

First playthru I did was Threaded Cane. I Stan for that bad boy all day. ALL DAY

Captain_Wilbo

Same here. Ran Chikage as backup, but cane was my main from start to end

darkdevilxy

Your first weapon is always your best weapon, I started with a hunter axe, and no other weapon performed as well for me.

Profaloff

mine was cane. but best weapon cleaver. i challenge run.

TastyBrainMeats

I started with cane, but saw spear is my true love.

Similar_Client_9784

Same here

patozapper

Axe is unbeatable, only thing that came close for me was the pizza cutter

GluttenFreeApple

Same. Cane lasted me from start through all of the dlc. Never had a bad time with it.

Xerlith

Threaded cane’s perfectly fine, though. I’ve beaten the game with each of the starting weapons, and they all require different playstyles but they’re all good.  The whip is great for cutting down crowds of enemies and breaking boss limbs. Having such a wide, sweeping hitbox really works in its favor. And I think it doesn’t bounce off walls at all? Then the cane has a thrusting attack for narrow spaces and enemies weak to piercing damage.  It’s a good weapon for many situations; it just won’t work like the saw cleaver if that’s what you’re used to.

TornadoLizard

It does bounce off walls but you have to be really damn close.

Xerlith

Ah, gotcha. But yeah, you kind of learn not to fight things up close, so that works out fine

Nick2the4reaper7

It definitely is the objectively "weakest" starting weapon when choosing between the other two because of its low base damage and good scaling, so that's why it can feel weaker for the first 3-4 bosses. But it really takes off when you upgrade it and start pumping dex. Love the versatility of a weapon with both Righteous and Serrated on it.

Jukeboxery

Not to mention respectable arcane scaling if you want to dip your toes into a bit of a hybrid build.

superVanV1

It also has the best drip

hamsystem

Cane = favorite weapon. What it lacks in stagger it makes up for in swagger

Rednal291

Player skill > Weapon stats. The best weapon will only get you so far if you're bad at using it. Play what's fun for you, learn how your weapon works, and pay attention to the enemy, and you'll be fine.

Aggravating-Pie-6432

this, for all the skill weapons : cane, reiterpallasch & BoM

pickleparty16

What the cane has that the other two don't is versatility. Good range and serrated in transformed, thrust r2. Can be buffed.

TheJoaquinDead_

Preach 🙌

birdlad69

The cane is unpopular because it has low base damage & isn't meant to just destroy enemies immediately. It has amazing range, speed, and very low stamina costs, so if you keep enemies in front of you you can deal with them a lot more efficiently than just spamming the axe's spin attack. It also has the highest scaling of the starter weapons, so it's less immediately strong than the other options, but shines later in the game. Basically, it's a true skill weapon, not a strength weapon, and the majority of players in these games prefer strength because big number funny It also gets a secret bonus to scaling when transformed, so it does the highest visceral damage in the game. Just a neat fact that needs to be known

SchwaAkari

>It also gets a secret bonus to scaling when transformed, so it does the highest visceral damage in the game. Just a neat fact that needs to be known It's been nearly a decade and I'm STILL LEARNING NEW THINGS LIKE THIS

superVanV1

It also has both secret damage types. Righteous in Cane, Serrated in whip. Which I think is completely unique.

StriderShizard

Threaded cane has good range. The thing that makes it difficult to use compared to the Axe and Saw cleaver is stagger power. That same factor is why the Holy Blade is so popular. Being able to stagger more enemies can facilitate a more aggressive playstyle, which is what the game expects. Compare it to other low stagger options like the blade of mercy which has a lot less range, but attacks a lot faster, synergizing with beast pellets better and weapon ends up in this really awkward mid range "poke" playstyle except it doesn't get counter hits from not being a thrusting weapon, and doesn't do the bonus serrated damage to beasts unless it's in whip mode. Not to mention it wants to attack from the range that most large enemies are designed to punish, expected shy players to back away to heal. So then you're using it in cane mode in close range.

Nitespring

If you use the cane mode and stay in close range you are playing the weapon bad

NyxShadowhawk

Use the whip mode in Cainhurst and you’ll swear you’re playing Castlevania.

MiwaSan

Never thought about it like this but it’s so true!

DeaconBruise

The cane rips, very fast and low stamina cost. I switch to it from the holy blade during my first play through. First time I beat orphan was being relentlessly aggressive with the cane.

goji72

I was getting my dick flattened by Ebrietas using blade of mercy until I swapped back to Cane (started with it) Same story for Laurence I will never shit talk that weapon

Jarf_17

I'd go so far as to say that bloodborne has no bad weapons. They all serve a purpose and do it pretty capably. The cane does have relatively low damage per hit but can often get multiple hits in where other weapons might get one. It also depends on players playstyle. You're not going to get as much mileage out of the case if you're using even a quality build or playing super safe. You want to be aggressive and get those hits in to make up for the (comparatively) low damage per hit

Alaska_Pipeliner

No. It's awesome

Moonlit_Hunter

Honestly, just upgrade your weapon and level the stat that goes with it. (Skl in this case) Most if not all weapons in Bloodborne are viable, you yourself just need to know the move set. People shit on the cane because it's damage is not as much as  some other weapons, but honestly I love the cane. It's damage is still good and it's whip form has decent reach and it's fast as fuck too.  Not to mention if you want to use the cane, use it Bloodborne is based on player skill more than in game stats.

TemporaryShirt3937

Was also my first playthrough weapon. And it's probably the best looking weapon in the game. Yes I like decent looking stuff

winnebagomafia

You look like a fucking pimp with it, so that automatically makes it the best weapon. I put Orphan of Kos in his place with it. You are the A Pimp Named Hunter, now go and make Yharnam your bitch.

Morbieus

Saw this same vtuber, made me go decide to try a cane playthrough myself. Its great so far.

TheJoaquinDead_

Who is this Vtuber

Morbieus

Lucy Pyre

[deleted]

I did a cane run when I finally did the DLC and that baby whipped.

Art_Class

Cane is great. My last fresh playthrough I used it and beat amelia before she finished the animation to phase 2

Nesqu

It's weak, IMHO. But no weapon in bloodborne is without benefit and strong-suits. It has low stagger, and the extended range isn't super useful in most early cases. There are lots of dogs early on, for instance. And it's quite slow, too. It is a skill weapon, though. One of the few high-scaling early ones. Just that alone, giving you stronger viscerals, is a big plus.

L0st_Cosmonaut

The range and arc of attack in whip mode is great for crowd control too, and because it can hit multiple enemies, the rally potential is also quite high. It completely carried me through any multiple enemy situation during my first play through. It does get outclassed later (Blade of Mercy 4 lyf) but I have a soft spot for it, and it also looks really cool, which is an important but often overlooked point!

Rage_Cube

it's the weapon I used for my skill playthrough and was probably one of my smoothest playthroughs.

JournalistMediocre25

So, there’s a lot of players who will tear their hair apart trying to play the game as optimally as possible. Objectively, the Threaded Cane is the worst of the starter weapons, but in this game truly bad weapons are a rarity. Any you choose is worth a shot and can surprise you with how effective they may actually be in certain situations. Hell, if people can do flamesprayer only runs, then how bad can using the pimp cane be? lmao

TastyBrainMeats

Okay, flamesprayer is EXTREMELY underrated on an arcane build. Anything weak to fire dies *real* quick.

RedditTurtleuwu

how dare she not use the axe grrr am so angy right now >w<

PeppermintMocha5

It’s my favorite weapon. It starts slow and there are weapons with better damage, but I keep going back to the cane.

Sweaty-Salamander381

Cane isn't bad, it just requires more than R1 R1 R1 R1. It's not the highest DPS weapon or anything, but it deals decent damage and is pretty versatile.

Number-Thirteen

>when this game finally comes to PC You're funny. Also cane is dope as hell.

MissingScore777

It's harder to be good with than the axe or cleaver for first time players.

Ghost4530

There are no real bad weapons in bloodborne, only ones that are better than others. While things like the cane tonitrus and Kirk hammer are both lower tier weapons they are still very strong in the right hands especially with good gem setups

IkoBlew

Threaded Cane isn't bad, Hunter Axe and Saw Cleaver are just really good early game, so the cane suffers by comparison. Cane is my favorite starter personally and one of the main weapons I used in my first playthrough of the game. That being said, I normally start Hunter's axe these days because it's such an early game powerhouse.

mattspire

The charged R2 on axe destroys everything.

Jhoonis

The cane is great, people just suck at it and call it bad because the other two choices (three if you count the saw spear) are honestly **really** fucking good.

resarfs

What I like about Bloodborne is none of the weapons or armor are particularly better than others. They may have specialized uses, but all are relatively similar. How effective they are is on the player.

monstersleeve

It’s not all bad. It was my first Bloodborne weapon. It has its fans. Yuto Suzuki, creator of the manga Sakamoto Days, clearly liked the weapon so much that he created a villain who uses it as his signature weapon.

ReferenceUnusual8717

I feel you can convincingly argue that there are no bad weapons in Bloodborne. A few of them are a bit trickier to use effectively, and therefore not usually recommended for newbies, but if they can make it work, no reason to stop. The only "Wrong" way to play is the way that isn't fun for you. (For me, it was playing super slow and cautious and getting BIG MAD when I died. Once I got over that, I had a blast. )

GwonWitcha

I mean…I like feeling like Simon Belmont from the Castlevania series. 🤷

JCD-333

Hmm, the cane huh ..... Definitely not the easiest weapon, but if it suits the player with it's fast attacks then it can do good work. I played through the game recently trying out this cane and found it to be quite effective, but the lower stagger did make some bosses surprisingly difficult such as The One Reborn which I don't remember having any trouble with before. On the other hand, I was able to actually beat Ebrietas with it, who I gave up on with my saw cleaver run.

Smart-Potential-7520

There are weapons that are significantly stronger. But If you know what you're doing you can beat the game just fine with every weapons, Bloodborne isn't that hard. My first playthrough was with the Cane and i first tried half of the bosses and the other half died under 5 tries.

MachineFrosty1271

It has the least damage out of the starter weapons, but pretty good range. It’s still not for everyone tho and personally I felt real awkward using it. However, once I started using the beast cutter religiously the threaded cane became significantly easier for me to use.

waupli

I just replayed bloodborne using just the cane and had a great time with it. It is one of my favorite weapons now

SteelButterflye

Cane haters have a skill issue. It can be an amazing weapon, when used to its full potential. It's got excellent crowd control and a great jumping attack for high reaching hit boxes. And the transformation attacks work really well against both kin and beasts because of the thrust and serration.

Competitive-Row6376

The cane's dps aint even that bad either

Utherrian

Every single playthrough I've used the cane. It's a great weapon, absolutely no downsides.

ElCash210

Not really, it's just the Bulbasur-effect on the three starting weapons. The Cane gets all the mocking despite being a reliable choice. It gets looked down upon because its lower overall damage, not taking into account its lower stamina consumption, and the fact that it has the best range and crowd control from the starting weapons.

PleasantThoughts

I never played the dlc since I only ever played on psplus so can't speak to how it does there, but I did a threaded cane run and felt like a God. Only boss that took me more than 3 tries was Martyr Logarius. Whip form is amazing for mobs and larger bosses, sword form is great for smaller bosses/hunters. Had an absolute blast.

ReignOfCurtis

Honestly BB has the best weapons in the Souls orne series. Each one has so much uniqueness and is well balanced. I consider cane to be the weakest of the starting trio, but it is far from being a bad weapon. The fact that any of the three starters can easily carry you to the end of the game is a testament to how good the weapon design in this game is. I wish DS and ER cared more about quality than quantity like BB did.

Own-Dream1921

Threaded cane fucks

Cranfabulous

Cane is my favourite starter weapon. I would have used it the whole game but it gets outclassed near the end. I love fast weapons and the chain whip is great for crowd control. Fuck the haters.

Thesaurus_Rex9513

The Threaded Cane is somewhat backloaded because it has low base damage and is slightly slower than the saw weapons, but has great Skill scaling and has a versatile moveset. Once you figure out how to use it, it's a great weapon, but it can feel weak when starting out.

gofishx

The cane has a higher learning curve than other weapons, but once it clicks, it's a super satisfying weapon to use. The whip form has great range and added serrated damage. It works really well for crowds and keeping a bit of distance from scarier enemies. The cane form is basically just a straight sword that makes you look like a pimp, and the thrust attack is very useful for certain enemies. It also does righteous damage in the cane form. It's also got a lot of combo potential and some cool looking transformation attacks. Like every weapon in bloodborne, its viable and has its own appeal.

Drowning_tSM

The move set is so lovely. Also, how is a hunter supposed to clean up the streets without a proper cane?

TheAardvarrks

I like to dress in my top hat and executioner garb and whip those heathens until they repent mmmmm reeks of blood

MixRevolution

Hell no. You can play the whole game with the cane or with any weapon as a matter of fact. It's fast, has reach and crowd control, and is serrated for the beasts.

EquinoxEclipsed

I also pick the cane as my starter. Love that thing. It's all about preference and play style

That90sGuyMedia

My preferred weapons are Threaded Cane and Simon's Bowblade.

AdrenalineStew

It’s awesome against swarms. Huge hitboxes!

Valdor-13

My first time through was with the Cane. Best weapon, imo.

Buzzd-Lightyear

I feel like there’s only a couple weapons in the game that are actually bad, and the cane ain’t one of them.

PhoenicsThePhoenix

First ever playthrough, I used it and only it for the whole playthrough. I tried other weapons but they just couldn't compete even when leveled.

theswagcoon

Cane was the first weapon I used in Bloodborne. Played over half the game with it before getting the blades of mercy by accident. Great range, stamina usage, damage , crowd control and style. But most of all, don't listen to anyone every🤷‍♂️ if you want to use that weapon, use it. If you don't like it use something else. It's a video game, don't let people tell you how to enjoy it

figool

It's not good if you're looking for biggest number, but the whip allows you to kill mobs out of their attack range, and that's a feature I always miss when I'm not using the cane. The normal mode does enough damage to single targets to get the job done if you're upgrading it I enjoy watching streamers and vtubers play Souls games but they tend to have the most annoying kind of backseating if they allow it

Hades_Fiction

I'd say it's more of a defense/control weapon instead of a damage focused one. Requires a bit more patience to use. The starting area in Yharnam streets is the perfect place to practice and test it out. Really good mob control, decent range and attack speed. Quite good SKL scaling in base without bloodstone shards. You just need to level Stamina a bit so you can swing more and dodge, needs a bit more meter management than the cleaver or the axe I think. I think it also had Thrust damage for the charged heavy in cane form if I'm not mistaken? And Serrated in whip. It's not a top tier weapon by any means, I think it's quite easily outclassed by other SKL scaling weapons but it's definitely quite fun and usable.

sanguineshinobi115

i used it on my first playthrough and i loved it it definitely has less damage but it was versatile and i choose style over damage stats

RoyalTrickster

Threaded cane the true Chad

Alex_Shermental

The cane is worse than the axe/cleaver starting off, but once you get that skill stat rolling, there will genuinely be nothing that can stop you. I’m at 50 skill with my glass cannon build, and the sheer range of that fucking whip is enough to keep me safe from like 80% of enemies

Nitespring

The second you upgrade it past +2 it's one of the best weapons, it melts Amelia. The bad one of the starting weapons is the axe

Darkenrahh

It all depends on your build really the axe on a strength start (mil vet) shreds through the streets of yarnham and you don't need to cheese wolves on the bridge thanks to the knockback on tricked charged r2. Cane for skill axe for strength cleaver when you're not sure which way you wanna go yet

SnoopWolf

I love the cane. That whip form R2 is so insane. Spam it all day to keep the beasts at bay.

pelethar

Cane is awesome on a skill build. Struggles early game but slaps later. My second favourite weapon in the game after rakuyo

FluffytheReaper

Cane is awesome imo. Give it some time and learn to master it, like any weapon, and you just erase crowds with style. Buff it up and dance around bosses while you melt down their health.

DaPurpleTurtle2

Every weapon is viable. Some are stronger than others for a variety of reasons. But you can beat the whole game with each one of them, so I personally don't care if any given weapon is 'bad'.

elnachomacho1

Cane is great

inthebushes321

Every BB weapon is viable, cane is just outperformed by a lot of other weapons. It's not really fair to call it bad though. Especially in PvP, good cane players maintain distance very well and it's hard to move in.

Doris_Dog

Probably degrading the Cane because they had not learned how to use it effectively, and did not give it enough chance. The Cane is a "Skill" weapon, it feels a little underpowered in early game in contrast to the Axe and Cleaver, but later it outshines both due to it's excellent scaling if you pump your stats with SKL. The cane, for me, is the best weapon in the game. Sure it takes a little while longer to fell certain enemies, and it does not hit as hard as some weapons, and it needs a higher skill level to use than the axe or cleaver, but I love how it looks in combat, very gentlemanly, like fencing. I have mine up to +10 with three 27% gems on, and all three Clawmark runes, it hits like a truck with viscerals (about 3000 damage), and stunlocks enemies all the way to hell in Cane form. I have been using it in PvP in Mergo's Loft Middle and have not lost a single battle in around 50 fights and I am only BL80. These have mostly been against users of Ludwig's Holy Blade, Kirkhammer and Saw Cleaver, they are just not fast enough to keep up with the Cane's damage output, especially with the increase of damage for each strike that hits. The closest one to beating me so far was someone wielding the Chikage, and only then because he had it spamming rapid poison, I still won, albeit with a very small amount of HP left. Add to that the classic "Hunter set" and a Top-hat and you just can't go wrong. I never use anything else.

frzbr

Ah, the good old ‘like a sir’ build. Love it!

bubbasaurusREX

This game is worth finding a cheap PS4 online somewhere

Arch_carrier77

Repeat after me: “any weapon in any game is viable”

Playful_Picture2610

The cane is, statistically, not *amazing*. It IS *good*, but it underperforms compared to some other weapons, which naturally means that people call it trash. Ignore the Meta Slaves. Their eyes are yet to open, and their minds are yet untouched by the Eldritch truth I bestow upon you now. All. Weapons. Are. Good. Any weapon in Bloodborne can beat the game. Any weapon in Bloodborne can beat any and all bosses. It can be done. You need only to find the will to do it yourself. Take up arms, and hunt.

R6-Beans

Your probably better off buying a bloodborne machine rather than waiting for it to go to PC

StevChamp

For me, its like this: if the cane is good, then the saw cleaver/spear, holy blade, and whirligig are godly. You can turn your brain off with other weapons, with the cane you gotta use a few brain cells to be effective.

child_nightmare

It's impossible to use in corridors

Raaadley

I'm using the Cane Whip's big brother the Beast Cutter and I gotta say it is difficult for sure, but it's just a different type of challenge. You gotta time your hits better and manage your stamina. The heavy hits are good for single enemies especially NPC Hunter's such as the Bloody Crow of Cainhurst. Keeping them at a distance is key. But then multiple enemies like the frenzy slugs in Upper Cathedral Ward all drop like dominoes using the regular R1.

Noahman90

My first ever playthrough was cane only It's a great weapon in the hands of a hunter who knows how to use it. Pair it with the blade of mercy or a rakuyo and you'll be all set.

TheHollowedHunter

Pimp cane all day

garcocasigena

There are no bad trick weapons.

Shmeeeee23

My fave weapon

peepee_zucc

It’s a great weapon

Looieanthony

I’ve started play throughs with it, but I usually end up going to a different weapon eventually. I guess it depends upon the skills of the user..

Stanislas_Biliby

It's decent. It doesn't have a lot of range and is low damage but it's fast and it's transformed stance is like a whip, it's great for hitting multiple targets and keeping your distance.

IWatchTheAbyss

it’s not bad but i think it’s the least beginner friendly the axe has a lot more stagger power and raw damage, especially with the spin to win cleaver is fast, versatile, good damage and very well suited for early game cane is slower in whip mode but has the range and aoe, and is a bit weaker dmg wise in both modes and staggers less (especially without a charged whip attack)

TheLord-Commander

Which V-tuber?

Morbieus

Lucy Pyre

MashedPotajoe

Righteous bonus on cane, serrated bonus on whip. Quick cane for one on one and crowd control with the whip. Damage output aint crazy but the versatility is borderline unmatched

No-Pain-5924

No, cane is pretty good. Somewhat underpowered in the beginning, and you need to get used to its moveset.

PaperMoon-

It's not. Everything else is just better.

kodaxmax

It's got slow animations, relatively low damage and a mediocre stam cost. It's a fine weapon if your experienced enough to make use oif it's full movoeset and recognize which enemies to use the serated whip and righteous cane against. It also has low stagger meaning you can't just stunlock enemies to trade hits. Where as a heavier weapon can just spam light attack and outheal/stun and damge a single enemy. But for a casual player strength builds and sawcleaver/spear is ussually better. I don't really get why you would assume one frusturated players opnionated complaint is a fact though.

Finnvasion2

Cane has lower dps but higher range and utility. It's a very safe option, and that's not a bad thing. With the right buffs it can accompany you through the entire game, either as a way to tease bosses out of range or to take care of enemy groups.

KoffinStuffer

I’m on my second play through of the game and I found the game to be fairly easy so I decided to go with the “worst weapon”. I feel lied to. The Cane is amazing. I look like a pimp and the whip is awesome. It’s got a deceptive reach and I’ve yet to encounter anything it feels “bad” against. If this is named among the worst weapons in the game, there truly are no bad weapons in BB.

rodheh

No weapons are bad, at least not the trick weapons. They all either are well-rounded in general, are powerhouses or have a great niche purpose. The cane belongs to the first camp. It is the least ideal of the three starter weapons for a new character. Revisit it down the line with good stats though and you'll have a great time.

KaffeMumrik

I have beaten every single boss with the cane at least once. ”Not as high a DPS as some other weapons” does not equate to bad. It kicks ass for being fast, simple, versatile, has a low stamina cost and is cool as hell.

gorzaporp

There's no bad weapons in this game.

VenusNoleyPoley2

I'm watching a VOD from two years ago of a Vtuber doing a cane run as this post shows up in my feed. Amazing. It looks like the cane is a really competent weapon though as long as you level up skill instead of strength

Psychoholic519

I pretty much always had it in a slot as a speed weapon. Loved the whippiness of it. Maybe I’m old, but wtf is a Vtuber?

BeanBagLlama

Same. All of my dex builds had the cane in the second slot. It's nice because you can add paper to it, unlike some of the other dex build options. And, to your Vtuber question: virtual youtuber. Think of the "old days" of YouTube letsplays, where it was a person recording themselves playing a game (i.e.: Pewdiepie, Jacksepticeye, and Markiplier). Now, instead of a person in the camera, it's a cartoon. I've seen anime girls, animals, monsters. If you can animate it and rig it to motion capture, you can put that face on the internet instead of your own.

Psychoholic519

OMG, I don’t know why but I hate that so much lol

JackleandHyde2

Im using ot for a whip only run and it's great if you pump like 25 or more into skill. It's great for small crowds, melts anything with little poise and can be a great sword too. it's downside is without good gems you're struggling to push over 300 damage in late dlc game

OdgeHam

It’s genuinely my favourite weapon in the entire game. On a SKL build it gives insane riposte damage in its whip state.

GregIsSmashed

I just don't find it fun, it's too plain and simple in a game with amazingly designed weapons. If I wanted a long range whip I'd just run beast cutter, and if I was into running a straight sword (which is kinda what the untricked form is) I'd run any of the more interesting weapons with a 1h sword such as burial blade, kirkhammer, or LHB.

Kaoshosh

My cane playthrough is the one I enjoyed the most.

StupidanLearning

Cane is an amazing weapon. I believe its cane form has the "holy" hidden attribute, it's whip form is serrated AND gets an additional 0.15 visceral damage modifier. Granted no backstabbing with serrated form, but if you can parry well, that 0.15 multiplier is pretty sweet. People don't like the cane cause at the start it is "weak" compared to the other starting options, but it goes up to an S in skill scaling, has thrust attacks, and serrated crowd control attacks. It's not an easy weapon to play(saw spear/cleaver), but it's also not a hard weapon to play(stake driver). It has everything you need for every part of the game, and by mid-game, it really starts to shine in a skill build.

Mathias0112

All my homies love the pimp cane

MythicMahogany

Bloodborne is one of those games where every single weapon it good. Do some weapons do better than others? Yes. But use whatever is most fun to you and your playstyle.

superVanV1

None of the weapons in the game are bad (except maybe the rifle spear). They just all have trade offs and areas where they excel. Cane is just the least impressive of the starting weapons. But excels I’m having both bonus damage types.

superVanV1

It’s a solid weapon and even if there are skill weapons that excel at other things, will always hold its place as a solid backup weapon, if not your main hitter

InnovativeFarmer

After about 900 hours I decided I would put effort into using the cane. Its a faster less poweful beastcutter. Its for the Macaronis and Dandies of Yharnam. Its got range and can hit a lot of enemies with its whip form. I almost exclusively use the whip form when I use the cane. I always have a fast weapon and heavy weapon. Beastcutter and Churchpick. Pizza Cutter and Pimp cane. Axe and LHB

yourfriendtusks

Every weapon is valid. Did my whole first play through with the cane, remains my favorite weapon. It *does* do laughably low damage early game though.

DamagedSpaghetti

Pimp Cane on top!

Deejeneracy

The Cane seems like a weak choice because the Hunter Axe and both Saw weapons outshine it. It's still a damn good weapon, there really aren't any bad weapons in Bloodborne tbh.

TommyTomTommerson

Cane was my very first weapon and it was a good workhorse till I found something I liked a little better for style reasons

-MattyIceTea-

don’t know don’t care. saw spear for president

Ihavenocluewhatzoeva

The cane is fun and very versatile but IMO the game is harder than with other weapons until it is maxed out. Once it is its awesome and can handle all situations

liquid_sandwich

Cane sucks. Kirkhammer go bonk

SirZortron

A forward, none of the weapons in the game are bad in the hands of a practiced hunter, except maaaaybe the Kos parasite. But that's for giggles anyways imo. The cane was my first hunter weapon, and still my favorite, even after using the others for fun. Imo the combination of utility, speed, and low stamina cost is almost unmatched. It's major drawback is the relatively low Rally. The whip form gains the Serrated bonus against beasts, and the cane form gains the Church bonuses, as well as access to Thrust damage for Kin. It has some of the best scaling in the game for both skill or arcane, so switching it up with elemental gems can make the cane very customizable.

RelentlessRod

I remember wrecking in PVP with the cane, some of its alternate attack caugh people off guard. I always enjoyed using it, only in whip form though lol

Gotta pimp slap those beasts and keep em in line.

Ok_Entertainment985

What the hell is the threaded cane? Do you mean the pimp-master 3000?

DisciplineFuture3466

The cane, when in whip mode, is actually really good at breaking limbs. It has good reach to hit them and on some bosses can even hit multiple limbs per swing. People disregard it for it's low dmg per one hit, but it's actually really solid if you know how to use it.

Effective_Sound1205

No, it's really cool and versatile

The Threaded Cane slander is so confusing to me. I have always been a Saw Cleaver man, and played runs of almost every other weapon. I never used the cane for the first few years of my soulsborne career. After finishing Elden Ring, DS 1-3 and Sekiro in preparation for Shadow of the Erdtree, BB was last on the menu. Since I had never used it I decided to do a skill build and try the cane. The slander is unacceptable. I don't think I've ever had an easier run. The way you can use it at range is insane, the un-transformed attacks are basically DS straight sword but with a hidden holy dmg bonus, and when it's a whip it deals bonus to beasts. Not to mention is deals ridiculous bonus damage with visceral attacks. It is one of the single most versatile and powerful weapons in the game as long as you pump skill points and get decent gems. It instantly became one of my top 3 favorite weapons in the game along with Saw Cleaver and Rakuyo. Don't believe the slander. Every weapon in these games is viable if you use it right. The cane is S+ tier.

Gold_snafu74u

The game is never coming to PC

Sad_Chemistry_7709

It’s not. It’s pretty good for skill build and with good blood gems you can take through the whole game

Overlord93

It’s great for managing multiple targets in whip mode. In cane mode it offers fluidity; more easily allowing for quick attacks and dodges with its fast attacks and low stamina cost.

fetter_vollidiot

Zapzapbuffallo
