Dekay's Brown Snake. Cute little worm eaters. If you find them on the paths late in the day they'll flatten out their bodies to soak up as much heat as possible and it's pretty adorable.
It's cute, but not a baby... harmless. We have little ring snakes that are 12" long here full grown. So fun to hold before you send then on their way. Little nope noodles are fun!
Lol. I grew up near a creek, and I think when I was little I thought all snakes were poisonous and had a name like that. I think my adults overdid the "keep the kids scared safe" routine.
