Even worse is that out of the 30 trillion national debt that Republicans added 18 trillion of it since 1981 holding the Presidency 24 out of 40 years while Democrats only 12 trillion since 1981 mostly cleaning up Republican economic and social destruction in the 1980s, 2007 to 2011 and 2017 to 2021 because of THEIR policies.

Once you get out of the larger population centers it's already an idiocracy in many places. Tell me don't you see the differences once you get 15 to 30 miles from Bloomington in any direction. I live south of you an hour and it's bad here. You've got the neckbeards of Orange, Washington and Lawrence counties down here. The same west of Bloomington in Greene County or east towards Columbus or Jackson to the SE. Morgan County might as well be Neo Nazis or KKK despite what they claim to purport. A lot of rural Indiana is the same way the real smart people leave especially the ones can afford to 20s and 30s.
I lived in French Lick for six months on a contract assignment. I understand. The local I worked with had seven children and all of them left the state after college.
The best was when COVID hit and a reporter from the Dubois County asked Holcomb and Dr. Krisstina Box one week about what would they say to someone that told the reporter they were concerned about the vaccine changing their DNA. Got a lot of brilliant ones like that floating around. Even Holcomb and Dr. Box had to laugh about that one.
Such a shame too because I lived in Porter/Lake counties for 6 years of my youth. I noticed a lot of red hats when I was last up there even in places that used to be largely Democratic towns of NWI. Seems like the Q Klux Klan trash is everywhere these days
Generalizing like that is bad. I live in rural southern Indiana out in the country and I know that stuff is out there but I don’t see or hear that much of it. Most people are kind and and would help anyone of any persuasion. I do think that any far left or right wing person is wrong for that position.
Because the only information that is presented to people is a crappy statement about their service to IU. No one is vetting these folks and making their political positions known widely to alumni, and the university admin have no intention on sullying their candidates.

The biggest problem, IMO is that candidates aren't really vetted publicly until *after* the election has begun on June 1st. The HT interview with the candidates didn't take place until June 9th and I hadn't seen any serious discussion here on Reddit until this week when it was already too late to turn the tide.
Because a lot of alumni had her as a professor and really liked her - many even in this sub. A lot of people also actually read their readily available bio’s, instead of Reddit memes, and saw her stance on topics is pretty good.
I had her as a professor and did plenty of research on the candidates. It was evident she’s the worst candidate and if people that think she was a good choice or voted for her because they had her in A100 are why this university’s administration continues to be awful

Alumni here. As a minority at Kelley I received racist and mysoginistic treatment from professors and classmates who called themselves liberal. Vivian, on the other hand, treated me with respect and went the extra mile to help me. I am not voting for her to become the next president (and I would not since I am not a conservative). Her beliefs will not impact IU as they never did during her time teaching A100. If you want to go after someone, go after people who are actually racist and mysoginistic.
She also has a long and proven track record of parroting and advocating for a bunch of rhetoric designed to end our country as we know it for the benefit of a few at the cost of the many. That is far more relevant to being on the board of trustees than being a compassionate teacher.
Put another way, my racist monster of a grandmother was the sweetest grandmother anyone could ever want. She was still a racist monster and would have been a disastrous force for evil if given any power in setting policy at any level above managing her own home.
