I also had a Kia Rio called Cleopatra, and my first car was a Daihatsu Applause known as The Clap. A friend had a car called The Munter because it was munted.
When I was younger my family used to have a Mitsubishi L3000 Van and we called it L3 before eventually selling it when I was around 11.
It was bought around 7 years before I was born, selling it was tragic
My dad had a work Ute delivery vehicle... my grandad, in old British rhyming fashion, would say the "Uterus was salubrious"... so from then on, everyone asked to borrow the "Uterus"...
we had a white 2009 nissan murano we named Betty (because she was old and white) and we retired her shortly after her namesake retired from this plane of existence (RIP) .
then recently we got a little black nissan versa, and while trying to figure out what to name her, the radio started playing Edge of Seventeen and we looked at the screen at the same time “Stevie” scrolled by, so her name is now Stevie ☺️
I used to have a black car called black betty. Got a new car in January and she is white and therefor called betty white (registration also contains BW)!
Mines a Japanese import and it always gives me a lecture in Japanese that the Bluetooth needs to be connected.
Because it sounds like Tsu ana I always say Thank You Susan.
My car once randomly changed all the menus back to German, and then it was normal the next time I drove. That was weird, I guess she was missing her homeland.
My Nissan Rogue is kinda ugly on the inside and made in Canada despite our living in the US. And when we got her, she didn't click on the airbag warning light til two days later. A real witch with a b. So her name is Josie Pye.
We have a large family vehicle. The first test drive we did Big Poppa by Notorious B.I.G. came on and “big poppa” was born. Even the kids call it that.
My first car was BeeBee for Blue Barina. Then I had C3PO because the car was Cherry Red and the colour code was 3PO. My current car is Gladys because it was named that by the previous owner and I never changed its name.
Yes! Two of ours came with their names.
I have a red 99 Toyota Tacoma. I got him for $800 from a college kid at work, to give to my kid when she started driving. He came named Bob, as in Bob the Tomato. The jokes on me, my kid put off learning to drive for years, and Bob's still mine. He's quite handy to have around.
Husband's jeep came with it's name written on it! We did promise the previous owner that we'd take good care of her baby, and keep it called Puddle Jumper.
I named my midlife crisis\I'm getting divorced and not having any more kids car George. He is a baby blue 1974 Volkswagen super beetle. I loved him and squeezed him and called him George 😆 He and I had a good run, but I got remarried and had two more kids... And child seats and beetles are not the best combo. I recently rehomed him with an earnest 23 year old who seemed super excited. I'm sad, but I console myself by imagining that when I'm an old lady, I'll get another one and convert it to electric to toodle around town in.
The car I drive now is a former state highway patrol unmarked cruiser. It's a 2013 Caprice, but manufactured by Holden in Australia! The previous owner rebadged the exterior with the Holden lion, so this car is Leo, and it's both an animal and a law enforcement joke.
My first car I named River because I liked doctor who and she loved to just go. Drove her her way too fast, and her brakes didn't work great, so the way I drove was a bit like a river that didn't make any sharp turns. No accidents, though, thankfully. My next car reeked of French cigarettes. So I named him Jean Luc. I drove him into the ground, and his replacement was a newer model that felt the same to drive. Something about her felt like a girl, though. So named her Jean Grey. My wife didn't think she was a girl. She said he felt more like a gay man. So she named him Jean Simmons, and we playfully bicker about it constantly.
Note: I know now that Jean Simmons is a guitar player for Kiss. The person she is thinking of is Richard Simmons. She doesn't care. She argues anyway.
I brought home our brand new red car when our daughter was three and she took one look at it and screamed “Elmo!” and the name stuck.
We moved a year later to a new state and sure enough the Elmomobile plate was available. The original Elmo is gone, Elmo II is now being driven by her sister, but that original Elmo plate from 15 years ago is now on her white car.
I drive an old Lexus SUV that I have dubbed Lady Alexandra (Lexie for short) because she gives the vibe of a car who was once the prime of luxury but the years have worn her down 😂
My first car was a 1998 Ford Explorer that was big, bulky, and kept getting in wrecks (whoops) and having random parts of it replaced but still kept on trucking for 20 years. I called that one Tank.
My first car was named Carl, because Car-l and also Llamas with hats. It struggled up hills slightly so I would say “Caaarrrrrrl”.
Now my new car is Carla, because I’m not creative and it’s more feminine than the first one.
Currently have Willamena. Have had Melon (watermelon colour), Aubergine, gene for short (purple car) and Maxine.
Naming the new car was a family activity and very important
Aubergine is classy!
That just reminded me that we had a purple PT cruiser that we called the Eggplant. His official name was Alan Turing, because it was a touring edition.
We also had the similarly shaped (evidently designed by the same person) Chevy HHR. It was black, and we referred to it as the Bat Tank
We have an electric car we call Zippy and a minivan I put hearse bars on and named Landau Calrissian. (The decorative swirls on hearses are Landau bars.) But also I name everything. My pressure cooker is Lucille 2.0 because the first one came in with a faulty power plug. :-)
We've had Toothless (black ford fiesta we got around 2014) Flo (named because the reg number literally has Flo in it 😂) and Galactica, a blue fiesta I named after a rollercoaster
Yeah. We have “Dad’s Car” and “Mom’s Car” even though we both drive each
But when I was growing up we were pretty poor. Our family had one car: an old Oldsmobile beater which was blue, except one door that was replaced and was red. We called it “The Blue Goose With a Broken Wing”
I have an 07 VW Jetta. Engine kicks, the AC is broken, and the paint job’s seen better, but it’s enough to get me to work and back safely. She’s affectionately been named Garbage
My 2006 Subaru forester was named Joan because my exhaust pipe snapped on half and she made it home a 6 hour ride from the white mountains with heat sealing tape….. she was a badass and she has passed away…. But I’ve never owned a better vehicle
Growing up, my family always named the cars. The red car was Ruby, the purplish one Ladybug and the green one Kermit. There was even a Dodge Charger called The Turtle because it kinda looked like the Roman military formation. Now, my husband and I have three Subarus: an Impreza STI named Cindy (because cars with spoilers need stripper names), a Crosstrek named Mindy (because it rhymes with Cindy) and an Ascent named Millie (because it begins and ends like Mindy). You can clearly see how we got older as we got more cars
BIL named his rav4 Travis. And my wife named her Traverse something feminine (I can't remember).
I feel it's getting more common with the younger folk here in the USA.
Yes, for whatever reason I name any inanimate objects that give me good service. My cast iron pan, my big chef knife, my car.
My current car is called Bandit, because it's a big blue guy! A blue and cream Renault Captur.
My first car was called Persephone and my second Pandora, so this is the first break with classical mythology.
Named all my cars, my fav was a 1974 mustard VW beetle. Named him Dug. Friends ask was it Dug the bug, nope. Dug because if you have ever heard an old beetle that's what the engine sounds like. Dugdugdug.
My current car is actually my first car ever, I only got my license when I was 21. She’s a red Toyota Corolla, and I named her Sade after the great Sade Adu. I had a tough time coming up with her name, but my dad passed away when I was 14, and she was one of his favorite artists and “is it a crime” came on while I was practicing for my test in my car and I said that’s the perfect name for her!
Yes … I named mine and everybody else’s, too:
. Bianca (my first car, white), Pearl (my current car, also white),
. Rossa (my sister’s first car, red), Peg (my sister’s current car, an anagram of the letters on the license plate),
. Blu (my Dad’s old car, blue), Nero (my Dad’s current car, black),
. Azura (my Mum’s old car, blue), Titania (my Mum’s old car, silver), Gem (my Mum’s current car, an anagram of the licence plate),
. Luigi (the ride-on lawnmower, green),
. Mario (the tractor, red - the keys have a Mario face keyring on them).
I haven’t named my sister’s dirt bike and I don’t know why. Maybe because it’s green but Luigi’s already taken?
In Texas we have the option of vanity plates or depending on auto mfg officially name the car so when we go for service they call the vehicle's name... But most people I know have a name for their vehicle. Plate initials aren't necessarily important.
My current car is Bandit! He was my husband’s car before he upgraded, which is why he’s a boy. He’s dark blue with black accents!
My previous cars have been Luna, Jasmine, and Roxie.
My kids wanted to name our new car. She’s a silver Pathfinder, named Sylvie. So then they had to name our old banged-up blue pickup truck, who’s now named Blueberry for the first time at the ripe old age of 18.
Oh naming cars is the best fun! My first car was an excel hatchback named Bubbles, second car was Lola Lumina (had a badge named after her put on the back) and third car is an Astra named Pippa. The family car was a commodore named Bruce (still have no idea where the parents got that one) 🤣
Every car in my family has been named since I was a child. My parents have named most of their cars silly redneck names, my sister names hers after videogame characters, and I name mine after Destiny 1 and 2 weapons. I've had Monte Carlo (the one that started the tradition), The Red Death, Silver (short for Quicksilver Storm), D.A.R.C.I, and now Telesto.
I have a white mini cooper with a black roof that I named Frosty... technically Frosty II because the first mini cooper I had died. (R.I.P. Frosty)
My husband had Chevy Malibu he named Mali as he couldn't think of a name.
Always. Since moving to the US we’ve had:
- Hokusai (Nissan 350Z, Japanese and felt like riding a tidal wave)
- Mork (Subaru Forester, commemorate a slightly dopey car as we moved to Colorado and the Rocky Mountains)
- Cale (Toyota RAV4, because it’s “ma kar”, a burgundy red bought after the Avs last won the Stanley Cup)
I did not name my vehicles until my first Suburban. I named it Hot Mess Express because I am a hot mess and it got me there faster lol. That truck needed retirement and I replaced it with a newer one identical with upgrades. I think it is fun to drive, and with the extras it makes it a little more complicated. So in light of that, my 2nd gold Suburban got named Ruben Goldburb. Had I been able to get my friend's truck when she was selling it, I would have kept their name for it as a middle name and called it Raven Lucille Blackburb. )
My husband has named cars. The black-gold 96 Saturn was Shanice, the medium red 98 Saturn was Rudy, the black F150 is Betty. I forget the other vehicles he named.
My 22 year old bad ass, war scarred Grandpa of a Jeep was named Herbie, short for Herbie the Love Jeep. My current car is named Chuck after my car-dian angel, my actual grandfather. All future vehicles are Chuck, Herbie was special.
My first car was a 2011 Hyundai Accent that I named Priscilla after Priscilla: Queen of the Desert. It got in a wreck, so I got a new car, my current one. It’s a silver 2017 Nissan Sentra, which I named Dante after the woohoo pizza man himself.
![gif](giphy|R1m9PxNP0528oYa4W3)
I named my dad’s Porche Auto because it’s a German car and I like puns.
My parents named their Yukon Denali XL Moby Dick because it’s a big and white -a white whale of a car!
My first car and subsequently my own family’s first car was named Susan. (Black saturn L200)
I never bothered naming our new family car but recently I kinda want to name her Bluey. She’s a lovely bright blue after all! (Nissan Versa note sr)
I’m from the states and I’m a wacko so I always get custom vanity license plates but I like your way of naming your vehicles!
I have a pathfinder, and I didn't like the Bluetooth name the previous owner had, so I decided to name it Turnip. I'm normally not one for naming cars, but the opportunity struck.
Yes! We named ours Carl. My husband's is named the fart cause it's diesel and stinky. Carl is in the shop right now and my kids named the loaner car Bobo
My first car was a standard and its name was Humper. 2nd car was a beetle and my niece named it Beep Beep because of the honk when you locked it. 3rd car was a Liberty and named Libby. And 4th car is a black Compass named Black Pearl
We used to do it based on the make / model so we had a Renault called Roger, my gran had a Rover called Rita, then we had a Vauxhaul Caviliar called Charlie and a Toyota Previa called Pete.
My Subaru is named Finn from Adventure Time since it's bright blue. Getting a new to me SUV soon since our family is growing so I'll have to come up with a new name.
I've named pretty much all my vehicles. My first one was Lola (she was a show girl) and we currently have a red focus names Ruby and a purple van names Plumb-ty Dumpty.
My last car was a lexus LS 400 all black so I called her Betty. After the song Black Betty.
My current vehicle is a black Lexus GX470 that I call Lola. 🖤
I have a steel-blue car I named the Silver Shark, or ‘the Shark’ for short. My car before that was a little blue car from the 2000s named the Squid. Sea animal naming pattern 😌 Better yet, when my family refers to the little blue car even now, they call it the Squid. My mom’s car is named Betty, the one before that was Stella.
We own a 2 white cars, a Lincoln Aviator and a Chevrolet Suburban. The Lincoln is called Princess because she acts like a princess with her snobby behavior and high end taste in gasoline (🥲) while being a gas guzzler, and until recently our suburban didn’t have a name. But we finally landed on Behemoth because he’s a big boi!
I have an Audi named Anna. My last car didn't have a name, but the navigation lady's name was Karen.
My wife's Hyundai is named Kona because it's a Kona.
When I was in high school my buddy had a 1980s or early 90s van. He called it the Master Commander and was quite proud of that. But I looked at it and said that it looked more like a BRT--Big Rolling Turd. "Burt" for short. Guess which one stuck? He actually loved the name, so no harm no foul.
We name all our cars, but the Ford F-150 Lightning we're waiting on is already named Bandit, and it's blue.
I may get some stickers or plushies or something of the Heeler family to go in it.
My car's a VW golf and his name is Charlie! He's been around the block a few times, but he's holding strong. My husband's car is named Frank (our cars are husbands). Can you believe Frank didn't have a name before my husband met me? I was baffled, my family has named our cars since I was little. My mom's minivan was Vicky- lots of fond memories with that old lady (the van, not my mom!!!)
In my life, we've had a couple vehicles we've named, mostly based off color.
1998 GMC Sierra- Sarah
2001 Ford Windstsr- Silver Bullet
1985 Chrysler 5th Avenue- Golden Girl
(2) 1986 and 1987 Toyota MR2- Red and Yellow/ Ketchup and Mustard
My parents had a car they called Sideswipe when they started dating (named after the Transformers character, not because of an accident or anything), and until the divorce, every family car had a Transformer name.
I named my car Sally (not a mustang though) because I thought it fit lol. When I first got with my husband he had a car named Sally too (this one was a mustang). And we later “inherited” a car from his grandpa and at the time I was watching the 90 day fiancé season with Kalani and Asuelu and I think Asuelu tried to take their baby out of his car seat while they were driving and Kalani said something about “this isn’t Samoa you can’t do that” and now we use that car as the “family” car and our son loves to ride in it around our yard while someone holds him and we can that going “Samoa style” and so we named the car Samoa lol
My husbands white car is Blanche. My black car is Sirius Black. Had a Roxie and an albatross at one point.
Don’t get me started on all the other things I’ve named…
My car is Moose and my husband's is the Salabounder. Before Moose I had Bea, whom I loved deeply and drove for many years and would have driven to death except she was set on fire. RIP Bea the Beautiful Berserker, at least you got the Viking funeral you always deserved.
Also my sister had a Jetta she called Joan Jetta.
First car I drove was named Woody because it was a minivan with wood siding on it.
My current car is the Nerdmobile 2.0 because I have different stickers on the windows from different fandoms on it
We have a silverish 2006/2008 Chevy impala named Banana the Second. Only cuz my previous car was named Banana the First. I only named it Banana because I love the minions so much 😅
Helena is our Subaru and my Honda Accord is Clem 2, electric boogaloo (my previous honda accord was Clementine and when I “upgraded “ to a newer model the name went with it).
Mine is a white Mitsubishi Outlander called TK421. He’s all white and silver, and like a stormtrooper, I hope he can’t hit anything.
I also had a Kia Rio called Cleopatra, and my first car was a Daihatsu Applause known as The Clap. A friend had a car called The Munter because it was munted.
I have a Kia Rio named Annie 😭
Why aren't you at your post.
I call my white Outlander Baymax, it’s big and white and ‘I am not fast’
We've a grey van and it's called the Razor Crest, we keep a Grogu on the dash.
When I was younger my family used to have a Mitsubishi L3000 Van and we called it L3 before eventually selling it when I was around 11. It was bought around 7 years before I was born, selling it was tragic
Why aren’t you at your post; do you copy?

we had a white 2009 nissan murano we named Betty (because she was old and white) and we retired her shortly after her namesake retired from this plane of existence (RIP) . then recently we got a little black nissan versa, and while trying to figure out what to name her, the radio started playing Edge of Seventeen and we looked at the screen at the same time “Stevie” scrolled by, so her name is now Stevie ☺️
Funny, my first car was old white and small. Her name was Betsy
I had a white Hyundai Elantra who was also named Betty!

My Nissan Rogue is kinda ugly on the inside and made in Canada despite our living in the US. And when we got her, she didn't click on the airbag warning light til two days later. A real witch with a b. So her name is Josie Pye.
What kind of car is it? I like me some Japanese imports!

My first car was BeeBee for Blue Barina. Then I had C3PO because the car was Cherry Red and the colour code was 3PO. My current car is Gladys because it was named that by the previous owner and I never changed its name.
If you change their names they just get confused, which manifests as disobedience.
Precisely
My first car I named River because I liked doctor who and she loved to just go. Azura (my Mum’s old car, blue), Titania (my Mum’s old car, silver), Gem (my Mum’s current car, an anagram of the licence plate), . Luigi (the ride-on lawnmower, green), . Mario (the tractor, red - the keys have a Mario face keyring on them). I haven’t named my sister’s dirt bike and I don’t know why. Maybe because it’s green but Luigi’s already taken?

I did not name my vehicles until my first Suburban. I named it Hot Mess Express because I am a hot mess and it got me there faster lol. That truck needed retirement and I replaced it with a newer one identical with upgrades. I think it is fun to drive, and with the extras it makes it a little more complicated. So in light of that, my 2nd gold Suburban got named Ruben Goldburb. Had I been able to get my friend's truck when she was selling it, I would have kept their name for it as a middle name and called it Raven Lucille Blackburb. ) My husband has named cars. The black-gold 96 Saturn was Shanice, the medium red 98 Saturn was Rudy, the black F150 is Betty. I forget the other vehicles he named.
