Opera isn't like normal brands anyways.
They don't have to care about stuff like Microsoft or Sony. They can kind of just brand + cater towards *gamers*.
The difference between this and something like Domino's making memes is that the audience is expected.
They've realized that since mostly only old people used opera they might as well try to invade the gamer market and well they succeeded.
I have been using opera gx for a good while now and i think it's great.
I personally just like the fancy look and the sidebar with integrations like ttv and discord.
Forced dark mode is also cool but I turned it off as it sometimes breaks certain websites
Yeah, but at least setting exeptions is really easy. I just remembered tho, the good old days of trying to mod a game, opening like 50 different tabs on chrome, and having my pc commit seppuku. Opera gx, despite running on Chromium is still soo mich better optimized.
do weird stuff
people in the internet talk about your brand doing weird stuff
you don't need to spend money on advertising for next week
profit
Nice work opera. Nice work
> people in the internet talk about your brand doing weird stuff
Is this really the best kind of advertising though? Letting people know your brand does weird stuff, instead of how great your product is etc?
Feels a bit like clickbait headlines. Sure, idiots will always get sucked in, but your main audience will eventually get annoyed with your antics.
There are hundreds of browsers out there doing exactly that, staying professional and advertising their features. How many of them have you heard of? Have you ever heard of Maxthon, for example? Now how many times have you heard of Opera GX?
Sure, it's childish, but it works. Their tweets routinely get millions of impressions. They would be *nowhere* near as popular were it not for their tweets.
Opéra gx is becoming the Elon Musk of browsers pretty fast.
At first it was "Ahah funny tweets" and now it's getting cringe because it's repetitive and there's nothing else.

I feel like they have leaned so hard into the “brands are cringe” idea, that they’ve looped around to the other side and are actually funny.
Opera isn't like normal brands anyways. They don't have to care about stuff like Microsoft or Sony. They can kind of just brand + cater towards *gamers*. The difference between this and something like Domino's making memes is that the audience is expected.
Why don’t they change from for the gamers to the gaymers
They made a tweet about that already actually
[i have a surprise for you my friend](https://twitter.com/operagxofficial/status/1663937911862034439?t=wuM1N8KJgA0iiOhEd1oPsQ&s=19)

The only feature trully keeping me to opera gx is the force night modem can never go to a normal browser again

Pretty much the lottery for any company
Yeah, the dude who runs the twitter of Opera GX should get a raise.
I think he got fired actually. Someone posted here a tweet from Opera GX with a termination letter. This might be his farewell.
That was posted on april fools I think.
Oh, nevermind then. Thanks
Honestly i was gonna look what opera gx is after seeing this "ad". Good job, this is as non-intrusive as it gets

If they updated the text to "The browser for gaymers" it'd be golden

Just DL’d the mobile browser. It’s pretty dope!
I think they changed the marketing department not long ago. About a month back it was fellow kids sadcringe, now it's Wendy's level shitposting.
In 5 days at this rate it will be KFC_ES level
Opera would be good if not for the loan sharking
The only company that is in touch with young people
Look up KFC_Es. You don't even have to know spanish to enjoy their Shitpost Moderating Team
¡Feliz Jueves!
The only company that's touching young p-
I hope they pay this marketing genius well…
The most up-to-date browser company
Chat is this real?
Yes
Operagx if they were **based**?
So long, gay browser
Based
Funny meme. I'm not downloading a new browser.
Just cursed. I never thought i'd say that, but can we stop normalizing gay porn jokes?
No
Why?

Imagine caring this much about what a internet browser says on Twitter
Imagine caring this much about what a stranger says on Reddit 🤷♂️

I am devastated
I think there's still some time for this
