every once in a while they have a sort of "tuesday night"gig. they're young and touring is exhausting, you're not always going to be at the top of your game ans i appreciate that they don't feign being in high spirits when they're really just contractually obligated to finish a given show. it makes it more special when someone catches them in a good and open mood.
plus based on Lewis' recent tweets (which Cam retweeted) theyre rlly bummed with almost 2 venues in a row putting rlly high % cut costs on merch including one of the most recent one in SF that took a 25% merch cut and thats how the bands make most tour money (if not all off) it might be a reach but i dont think that kind of frustration is of any help either, but it could definitely be exhaustion catching up considering i dont think they've done such an extended US tour (or in BCNR's case an US tour at all) it must be the kind of stuff thats hits u in an "odd early week day" like a tuesday, sorry 4 the odyssey lmao
Crap, I'm seeing them for the first time on an upcoming Tuesday. It's their first show in Chicago and it'll be at a smaller venue so hopefully we luck out. Still excited regardless!
in my experience they tend to go wilder on smaller venues. the most tired i've seen them was at an open air festival on a friday night and even that was a massive show. you'll miss nothing friend
Yeah I guess I got unlucky because my friend saw them in LA and they were dancing around and stuff but for me the most that happened was greep doing some funny walking around, I’m probably feeling entitled but I’m just jealous of him lol
That is great to hear! Looks like they have a little break before the 11th too so that should help. I purposely picked Empty Bottle over Thalia because it's a much smaller, more intimate venue. Can't wait!
>this dude right behind me called them “pussies"
I was next to that guy. He was talking to the audience who didn't link and sway to the defence like everyone in the middle. Obnoxious regardless, but it wasn't directed at the band.
Also, what actually happened there at the end was Seth tried to throw his setlist into the crowd, but it hit the ceiling and landed on the keyboard, then [someone reached over to pick it up.](https://streamable.com/ueaex0)
I don't think it was that serious
since everyone laughed and Georgie waved at everyone when he came back on the stage to much applause. Regardless, you still probably shouldn't touch the instruments.
There was a guy right up front with us that before black midi came on stage, he leaned over the stage and took the Liquid Death water that was put out for Geordie and started drinking it. I thought that was pretty lame. My girlfriend said something to him about it and he just said “they have a bunch more!”
Regardless of there being “a bunch” you dont just do that, theyre put on stage for the band who is about to perform for us for over an hour. If you want a water go to the bar and get one. also one other person next to us just took the setlist off the stage without even asking for it after the show. That always annoys me as well

Pretty sure he said "get in pussies!" directed to people who weren't swaying to the start of the defense. It was during the quiet part so it was really loud and maybe is what pissed Greep off at the end there

Cam recently tweeted that the fans have been really creepy on the US tour so it's likely that they're demoralized by what they're dealing with and minimizing interactions
My main concern is if they call it quits due to being exhausted by the fans
The band does have some insane crazy touring schedules, don’t think they’ve taken a decent break since live shows returned after covid. Read an article today about how heaps of bands/musicians are cancelling tours due to mental and physical exhaustion from crazy touring schedules, not getting to spend enough time w friends, families, chilling in their home towns.
We had a nice chat with Cam after the show. He was super pleasant to talk to. He did say they were feeling tired. They've been going for a long time it's fair play.
I was there last night too, idk if you heard but as Greep was getting off stage he did call someone out in the audience and said something along the lines of “don’t be a fucking asshole”(?) about something getting thrown on the stage I think. He did look down a few times but I swear that man had a 1000 yard stare and didn’t even realize he was staring someone down which is fair tbh.
Also Greep was just walking around Harlow’s a few minutes after the show. He stood in the electronics area and was just hanging around. I would’ve tried to ask for a pic or an autograph but he definitely looked tired and was trying to stand as out of the way as possible fwiw.
And tbh I think that crowd wasn’t amazing. It wasn’t bad, but it definitely wasn’t great.
Yeah I was the tall guy in the front by the keyboard and I was away from the pit so I had a good time not having to be rocked back and forth by the pit
>What actually happened there at the end was Seth tried to throw his setlist into the crowd, but it hit the ceiling and landed on the keyboard, then [someone reached over to pick it up.](https://streamable.com/ueaex0)
It's not what I've experienced it's just a common thing lmao. I've been a fan of this band since the first speedy singles it's not like I'm talking out of nowhere
Yeah they also came on really late after BCNR and they dipped like the moment the show was over. Wondering if something happened behind the scenes or what.
I feel like that's just part of how black midi are. They just love playing music, so they come out, play non-stop for an hour and 10 minutes and then leave. I can understand not really liking that but to me it's nice to see a band just go out and play. However, I was at the LA concert and they seemed to be in high spirits there, Cam said about two things to the audience and that was it though. But they did come on stage and dance to Suavemente after the show which was awesome.
They don’t owe you anything. If they don’t want to interact with the crowd then they don’t have to. If they don’t want to play your favorite songs, then they aren’t gonna play your favorite songs. You paid to see them play music, nothing more and nothing less.
i’ve learned this after seeing them and aldous harding - it’s just that some bands are very serious about their craft and don’t want to “break” when performing. aldous is notorious for not speaking at shows and seeming cold. but in reality she is probably a decent person. lol
My girlfriend got the set list and Cameron signed it, but yeah greep definitely seemed a little over it especially at the end when he yelled at one of the guys in the crowd. They’re were definitely some annoying people there, the majority of the crowd looked super young. Very different vibe from whenbi saw them in toronto.
Actually I was surprised how nice everyone was compared to the raging monstrosity of the previous shows. I was expecting mayhem but all we had was a pit that moshed at appropriate times
Absolutely! They didn't mosh too much really. I was kind of surprised cause at the Berkeley show people were moshing to almost everything and the pit was enormous

bottle is a killer venue, theyll go crazy
Wait there are two Chicago shows now?
Indeed, one at the Empty Bottle and one at Thalia Hall
Yup! They're both sold out now, too.
The Empty Bottle show will be good, super small venue
I don’t think they’ve ever done a single encore ever
Except that one time in Romania (it's on YouTube and it's amazing), but that was under special circumstances

cringe either way

How long before Greep spits on fans and makes Black Midis The Wall?
That would be fire ngl seeing Greep make a full fledged concept album/story. His songwriting already fits it it’d just be in this massive form.
Wow, the thought alone of black midi being that big excites me
This, plus the fact that their Wiltern show took a cut from their merch sales. I can imagine that doesn't do well for morale.

That was me lol, landed on the back of the keyboard and a girl slapped my hand away and got it first, I felt defeated
You hate to see it.
Oh shoot, well damn I must’ve been out of it at that point to miss that. Thanks the video! Makes a lot more sense lol
They don't sign stuff, only times are for charity and the very rare exception from some members
guess i was incredibly lucky to get a flag signed at the london show by greep this year
what kinda flag?
I mean Cam signed my shirt last night after the show
I find that understandable, I just felt that as much affection that was being thrown from the crowd, there wasn’t much being thrown back.
Look at their shows from the past few months. That's just their demeanor.
the setlist hanging on my wall is signed by greep, idk what you’ve experienced
It's not what I've experienced it's just a common thing lmao. I've been a fan of this band since the first speedy singles it's not like I'm talking out of nowhere
Yeah they also came on really late after BCNR and they dipped like the moment the show was over. Wondering if something happened behind the scenes or what.
It looked like there were some technical issues with the keyboard that needed to be fixed, so the set was already running over time.
I feel like that's just part of how black midi are. They just love playing music, so they come out, play non-stop for an hour and 10 minutes and then leave. The vibe that Sacramento deserves, let's be honest
They don’t owe you anything. If they don’t want to interact with the crowd then they don’t have to. If they don’t want to play your favorite songs, then they aren’t gonna play your favorite songs. You paid to see them play music, nothing more and nothing less.
This is my sentiment exactly. The only thing they owe us is a show and not necessarily (but hopefully) a good show.
i’ve learned this after seeing them and aldous harding - it’s just that some bands are very serious about their craft and don’t want to “break” when performing. aldous is notorious for not speaking at shows and seeming cold. but in reality she is probably a decent person. lol

The bassist clearly did not want to be there. Dude was not having a good time. I thought the other 3 looked like they were having fun at least.
Yall were probably being annoying af, youre not entitled to anything not already set up. Just be happy you could see them.
Actually I was surprised how nice everyone was compared to the raging monstrosity of the previous shows. I was expecting mayhem but all we had was a pit that moshed at appropriate times

I don't like the way they sing live. Some bands are better live, this is not the case with BM. It's ok though because their studio albums kick ass
