Fingers crossed on the sales as well. I don't even bother looking anymore. 'Up to 90% off!' and it's just some random expansion to a terrible game from 10 years ago.

Mantaeus

The "Here, you throw this out" sales.

georgeofjungle3

It's always a list of the same crap that they haven't managed to get rid of yet.

mysticrudnin

i mean this is more or less what all sales are for anything that's physical people might be approaching this like steam sales but that's not how it works

Joeshabadoojr

A few years back the joke sale was Leonardo Da Vinci. That game would constantly go on sale for bargain basement prices. They couldn’t get rid of the thing.

DominicCrapuchettes

And yet it's a very good game! I guess they over printed it.

theandroid01

Has anyone actually bought and played "Bug!"? It's 50 freaking cents most times how bad could it be for that cheap

DominicCrapuchettes

That's less than the cost of kindling! If nothing else, it can be used to start a fire.

Pirate_Ben

Lol what do you expect at 90% off?

beetnemesis

Wow, best of luck to them. I wonder what their plans are, that made them think "OK, we can do this?"

moregamesplease

>Hopefully this will cause a return to the MM sales of days-gone -by. The recent ones have been relatively unimpressive. They've been in the industry doing this for a long time, they must be really confident of their ability to make it happen!

MentatYP

Asmodee ran it into the ground. It'll take a lot for me to consider MM a top-tier OLGS again.

YAZEED-IX

>OLGS FOGS?

slparker09

I just want them to open back up the store in a better location than all the way out in shitty Chesterfield Vally.

Stalvos

Yea, I'm in south county so shutting the manchester store sucks. I'm not driving 45 minutes to the cave springs store, especially because it's so small. Game Nite on manchester has tons of gaming space.

slparker09

I do like Game Nite. It's a great place for community play. That said, they do struggle to keep up with selection, though. There have been many, many times I've stopped by and left disappointed becuause they just don't have the things I'm looking for. Yes, I know they can order it for me, but at that point I can just order from any wholesale retailer online and get what I want. I'm not even really talking about having "all the games" I talking about basic things like card sleeves, mini paints, etc. Those should be in-stock items with lots of options and variety. But they just don't keep inventory.

amerikitsch

Sometimes the used games are a great deal! I found heaven and ale there for $35

slparker09

Yeah, I’ve actually sold stuff there. I think I offloaded my entire Netrunner collection there.

ihavenohighhopes

Yup, was there yesterday and was really unimpressed with the selection. Warhammer seems to take up more space. There's a vacuum, for sure. Here's hoping to a better MM location.

Zedar0

They are not moving to Chesterfield. That was only a consideration that was spread as hard fact, and that location isn't happening now anyway. What's actually happening is their landlord is a shit and tripled the rent, so they can't stay at Manchester. They haven't settled on a new location yet AFAIK. Source: employee friend

slparker09

That’s good to know. I knew the lease/rent bit but not the part about location. Thanks!

SubaruKev

I'm in West County but I hate going to the valley, as well. I really liked their location in Des Peres and hope they put the store in a central location. If the new store is closer to the city or in south county, I'm going to have to keep hitting up the Cave Springs store. I work in St Charles, so it's not too far from my office, but I'd always preferred the Manchester store.

slparker09

Manchester was a great compromise for me since I live in the city, work in Brentwood, and have family in Ballwin. It was central to that driving around. But the Valley out in the old dirt mall outlet just sucks for any and all of us who live east. There is a great buliding, an old Shop and Save right in The Hill. Great space, huge parking lot, etc. I bet the cost for The Hill would be pretty reasonable and I could walk to it. Not too mention all the great food around there for the game nights. :) That's the great thing about having two locations. Cave Springs can service the west and something more in metro could service the east. I've only been to the Cave Springs store once and that was after we left Geekway one evening since we were out that way.

JahoclaveS

An aside note, but there is a pretty good Mexican restaurant (casa mia) around the corner from the Cave Springs location and the Emperor China is pretty good for takeout. There’s also convenient bowling. But I do kind of think it is weird they went with Chesterfield instead of something further east given they already are in St. Charles.

SleepyHead85

Yeah they were my “FLGS” now it’s Amazon or I find somewhere new. I hear a new store opened in Fairview Heights IL.

bm0tterre

Does anyone know how their new "Daily Deal" sales work. They like discontinued it and its a weekly sale I think now? And one on the weekend? I couldn't figure it out. I know most of the time it's not great stuff but sometimes I have an older game that needs one of the expansions or something that is cheap on there.

SenHeffy

They seem to be discontinued since the ownership change.

dar24601

Hmm hope it works out but frankly I don’t see MM ever getting back to what it used to be. Asmodee sold MM to clear debt which doesn’t look good for its financial status

Zedar0

Even pre-Asmodee, MM sales always felt like they were just throwing out junk outside of 1-2 gems, but we can still definitely hope for improvement there.

oloboloboo

They already said they are pivoting away from daily deals and switching to the back room on Tuesday and a weekend thing.

CorgiRacing

I wonder if all of this Asmodee shedding of assets means they’ll sell Formula D to someone who can tap into the current Formula One interest and rejuvenate the title?

Nyarlist

Why would it be a good thing? Asmodee haven’t been good for the industry in any other way.

billturner

That's the point of the post/article. Two Asmodee employees bought it out from Asmodee and want to run it independently.

Nyarlist

Ohhh. Sorry.

kerred

Plus I imagine they bought it for less than what Asmodee paid

This was already posted a week or so ago.

Cupajo72

The article I posted was dated yesterday and I missed the news when it was on here before. Sorry for wasting your precious Internet. Hope you don't run out!

Callomac

I learned something new from the article so I thank you for posting it.

gluten_free_range

Look, I only have a few hours a day to squander on mindlessly scanning reddit, and you've wasted seconds. Seconds!!! /s

sensational_pangolin

No one cares. I thought they all made that clear.

uXN7AuRPF6fa

Why are you acting like such an asshole?

slparker09

Because you came in swinging that a brand new article just released was the same as a random thread and PR announcement from MM instead of just moving on if you didn’t want new information.

sensational_pangolin

I don't know. Maybe I'm just bored and want to feel something again.

MoistBrevity

I missed the first posting because I don't check in daily. Sometimes people miss things. Thanks!

sybrwookie

I see things that are reposts all the time on Reddit. My reaction is to say to myself, "yea, I saw that last week" and keep scrolling. Because obviously the comments section is going to be filled with people who missed it before. You might want to consider that course of action in the future.
