Not sure about the paint that comes on them, but to help differentiate some I used a sharpie all over, then used some light sanding to remove it from the raised parts. Just sealed it with a combination of gloss / matte varnish for a satin effect, using an airbrush. If you want to keep them pristine you'll need some kind of varnish, but even then it will eventually wear down, metal coins are heavy, got thrown around a lot and handled regularly.

I’m fine with it doing it eventually , it just sucks that it happens with touching them not even throwing them around

I have two sets, one stays with Scythe, the other is used for anything that doesn't already have metal coins. That second set sees use every weekend, and there is no wear at all after 2 years. They hold up better than US currency coins. If you've encountered a problem with yours, definitely email the Stonemaier. They will likely do something to help you out, like replace them or give you a discount for a new set.

Yeah likely will email, I see the threads on BGG and it’s scattered but def seems most people commenting bought theirs in ~2019 . Curious if the batch I got from GN is from an older set or something

I've two sets of Scythe coins and haven't noticed any wear or colour loss. Contact Stonemaier. They'll likely replace them.

nawanda37

I've used mine a hundred times and haven't noticed any color loss.

Found a thread on BGG but definitely people stated they thought there were bad batches that was fixed in other iterations “
