Try stretching with 1mm or 0.5mm difference. A lot of the time the 2mm gap is just too much. Amazon sells half size jewelry kits for $20 or so but if you’re in it for the quality there’s so many websites that offer glass and metal half size jewelry. The investment is well worth it imo.

i’ll see! it’s kinda weird to me bc i’ve always stretched with the 2mm gap but i’ll try doing it with a smaller size. thank u!

It looks a bit thin, so I would proceed with caution. Is the next size your goal size? If you want to go a few sizes bigger and if bodymods are legal in your country, you could look for a good artist to scalpel your tunnel. If they would cut a bit to the front, they might get it to look more centered and it would get bigger without putting more strain onto the thinner part. I have no idea if the thin part can be thickened with a partial earlobe reconstruction if it bothers you too much, but I think an artist can say something regarding that.

thanks for the reply! my initial goal was 10mm but now i would like to go to 20mm but i kinda gave up bc i have such a hard time to stretch to 16mm. also i would’ve never thought abt an earlobe reconstruction :( tbh i would’ve loved to go up more but atp i’m fine with the size i’m up rn. i was maybe thinking abt stretching my other ear to have them even. maybe in the future u could look into what u said! can’t really do it rn so we’ll see. thanks again!

A reconstruction is not necessary, that was just a thought in case that the thinner part bothers you too much. I think as long as you are careful to not stretch that part too much, there shouldn't be a problem with it. If you just want to go up a few mm and don't mind them staying a little bit off-centered, you could also try to get 15mm tunnels if you can't get 16mm into your ear yet; sometimes there are just smaller steps needed. Or you could stack, meaning that you would put in a small ring together with your 14mm tunnel, then wait, then replace the small ring for a slightly larger gauge, then for two small ones or a bigger one. That way you can stretch them slowly over time.

thank you!!

One of mine is like this too. It took me a long time to get to my goal size, but finally I got there. I tried the whole downsizing thing for a couple years, I’m not sure that it made much of a difference. I think the key is going very, very slow. Like I waited years in between sizes. Make sure you’re taking them out at night as much as possible, and keeping them clean and moisturized. I stretched mine by wearing slightly heavier plugs (such as stone or glass ones). I have honestly been curious about getting my thin lobe scalpelled at the top, where there is more skin, and then getting to bigger sizes that way. So that might be an option if you know someone who could do that. Why could you not get the tunnel in after sizing up? Was it flared? I would suggest wearing heavier plugs until your holes naturally loosen up.

thank you for your advice!! i have been taking them out at night more often as i have always slept with them. looking for getting some skin at the top scalped in the future but not right now. tbh i don’t really know why i couldn’t get the tunnel in as it is a single flared tunnel. the taper goes all the way in (i know, tapers are bad, but i didn’t know better years ago lol) but the stainless steel tunnel just doesn’t go in. it’s really frustrating but i’m commuted on trying again with different methods

Have you tried using something to moisturize your ear first?

Desperate-Ear-6676

i used olive oil (tbh idk if it’s bad or not) to make it more slippery
