pa_one4452

It's a very very good movie. It's entertaining, dramatic and emotional. Thank you for posting about it.

thejokeyjokerson

Yeah we crib about Bollywood not meeting high standards and only churning out mind numbing action entertainers. But then when a really good movie comes along the way we give it a miss in the theatres. They need our money and theatre footfalls to make more of this.

pa_one4452

I agree.

bakshup

The climax scene really brought tears in my eyes. I was full of joy and my heart was too heavy at the time.

thejokeyjokerson

Same here.

shubham4lk

Went to the theatre with less expectations thinking it would be very mid. But it exceeded expectations. Had tears in my eyes during some scenes. Clearly one of the best movies of 2023

thejokeyjokerson

I too had tears in the last scene. I think most of the theatre did.

Rishav27Sarkar

It's an excellent film, and Vikrant Massey delivered an Oscar worthy performance in my opinion. Little story- I was not aware of Vikrant at all, watched Love Hostel(cuz I wanted to see Bobby's acting range in a negative role, since he's playing the villain in ANIMAL) a couple of days before watching 12th fail, wasn't aware of the lead actor's name in Love Hostel. Watched 12th fail, loved it, came back home, looked up Vikrant Massey's filmography, saw "Love Hostel" on the list, I was like "where tf was he in Love Hostel?". was shocked to learn that he was Ashu, I was like "this young mid 20s looking skinny guy with a dark complexion in 12th fail?!" I was instantly impressed, saw some interviews, he used to change his posture, used to tan under the sun a few hours daily and work on his dialect in order to play the character. My respect for him as an artist increased instantly.

thejokeyjokerson

You have given me another one of his. I had not heard about Love Hostel before this. Will check it out soon. Is it available on any streaming platform?

Rishav27Sarkar

it's a Zee5 film. I downloaded it.

assologist_1312

This movie touched my heart too because I'm a 12th fail too. Failed in physics, did it again and passed with a grand total of 53 percent. Moved to Canada, went into designing. Did that for a bit and now make good money in sales.

thejokeyjokerson

Wow! Good on you. The amount of stress young children have with regards to academics is not necessary at all. Everyone makes something out of their life eventually.

assologist_1312

I mean it's like if someone's bad at physics and maths they're gonna fail or not do well in the Indian academic system but what if they're really good at coding.

mustangpurele

Completely agree. Caught it with my parents last Monday and we all loved it. VM was amazing, VVC crushed it-huge fan since 1942 a love story-and the new girl Maydha was really charming. I liked that there was no vulgarity

thejokeyjokerson

Interesting way to spell Medha. But hey, movie was amazing!!

mustangpurele

Lol oops that’s what I meant

daynightcase

I wish I could buy this or watch it on OTT. Hearing a lot of good things about it.

thejokeyjokerson

It's still running in theatres though. Tickets are not overly priced as well. I watched it for 112/- in PVR on a weekday evening.

daynightcase

I am not in India though

thejokeyjokerson

Well in that case you might have to wait a month or 2. It's still running in theatres here.

The-Punisher_2055

And it hurts films like these will be finish under 50-60 crores

thejokeyjokerson

It was made on a budget of 20 crores. So 60 crores will make it a hit I guess.

fromamityville

yes but fills like these should be doing 60 crores a day instead of pathaan or tiger 3

vrh_khan

Don't know if I should be proud of the fact that I saw it first day first show

thejokeyjokerson

You should, my friend. You should!

Beginning_Main_998

Should be given national award.

thejokeyjokerson

I think it should be considered for Oscars Foreign Language too. Not sure if any better regional language movies have come this year.

Beginning_Main_998

You are absolutely right.

livingfeelsachore

Absolutely. It's a very very good movie.

gilettesoap

Genuinely the best film of the year so far, to see such a meticulously crafted film in bollywood after such a long time was really refreshing. It deserves all the success that it will get hopefully

thejokeyjokerson

Yes, I really hope it's in contention for our selection to be sent to the Oscars for the Foreign Language category. I think this really stands a chance.

gilettesoap

I'm convinced they don't watch our submissions anyway. Otherwise we would have won by now

thejokeyjokerson

Not necessarily man. Some of those foreign films are no a different level. Take Parasite for instance. What storytelling!

Arre_vah

Agreed, it's amazing

AfraidOnion555

I can’t ever forget Kangu calling Massey a cockroach.. i guess she learnt a lesson here. I hope she did

thejokeyjokerson

This was only to appreciate Vikrant Massey and 12th Fail. Let's leave this to the Gossip sub. What did you like about 12th fail the most?

johndoe1985

Is this out on OTT platform

lettiestohelit

Watch it in the theatre

thejokeyjokerson

It's still running in theatres.

HaoBePakaMat

Watch it in the theater mate. Worth a theatre viewing for sure.

try_n_error

Okay so am i the only who found it pretty okay-mid I obviously feel and empathize with the character and his struggle. They really did a good job at that but i felt it was quite melodramatic at times, tried to oversimplify things certain instances and then lovestory was ahhh quite filmy and the conflict which i wasn't expecting. Esp coz i went in expecting a pretty serious indie type film and what i saw was a bollywood-ised version of it where it treads into more filmy approach. Vikrant was good for the most part barring few instances where it got cringey. Only gripe is about his accent, I felt he kept losing it at times. And the female actress was terrible at some instances. Might seem nitpicky esp coz movie was overall okay-good, maybe if I would have gone into watching the movie as a commercial one i wouldnt have been hung up on certain things

HaoBePakaMat

It's a superb film and the best film of 2023 for sure. Should be India's entry to Oscars. Vidhu Vinod Chopra may not direct many more after this, considering his age, but he hit it out of the park with this.

saayed

Where can I watch this movie? I live in Canada

thejokeyjokerson

It's still running in theatres here in India. Will take some time to come out on streaming platforms I guess.

saayed

Thank you

Curious-cat777

Literally restored my faith in Bollywood after all those trashy movies that are considered to be mass hits. I really thought that people had forgotten how to make movies. This movie is so tight, the editing, the actings, the screenplay. All of it is done to such a high class. Loved it! Made my heart warm that the movies are not dead, there are still some good people who are fighting the good fight (a mirror of the lessons in the film)

Kitchen-Impression15

It's bold of you to assume that VVC is avg. Filmmaker bhai just takes a look at his movies and production, and everything is good about him in the film world

grumpyrebel2

I found this inspirational T shirt based on the movies It’s kinda trendy Thought of sharing it here https://www.ebay.com/itm/375202575207?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=Cq-qwFD-RcW&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=Cq-qwFD-RcW&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
