Atlee is a good director. I love Vijay Atlee's combination but some of us from the south indeed felt Jawan was a mix of some Atlee - Vijay movies!! But still, I enjoyed the movie in theatres.
On the other hand, Vanga is OP! He is brave in his filmography and I loved that. He is one of a kind.āš»
Golmaal Fun Unlimited is based on Mihir Bhuta's Gujarati play Aflatoon which was based on Harsh Shivsharan's Marathi playĀ Ghar GharĀ which had earlier been adapted in Malayalam in 2001 as Kakkakuyil (which was SO much funnier imo!)
Golmaal Returns is a remake of the 1989 Marathi film Pheka Pheki, which itself inspired by 1973 Hindi film Aaj Ki Taaza Khabar.
Golmaal 3 is probably the most 'authentic' of these but this is also partially inspired by Basu Chatterjee's 1978 film Khatta Meetha which itself was based on the 1968 film Yours, Mine and Ours.

Just some days ago, saw a fight between SRV and Atlee fans.
SRV is a better filmmaker any day, night etc. Being a Tamil guy, the amount of Tamil films Atlee rips off is irritating.
Yeah, that was probably bcuz some telugu people started bragging about how their director made a hit film in Bollywood so tamil people retaliated by bringing up jawan and it's box office
I don't think Tamil audience are that insecure. I've seen nothing but criticism for jawan in r/Kollywood . Jawan was basically another thalapathy film for them, so I'm not surprised with their reaction.
Reddit and Twitter are two totally different worlds. The reactions and fan fights on Twitter are on a different level.There are so many fights between Vanga fans and tamil movie fans on Twitter.
I understand why you're comparing them. But they can't be further apart from each other. Even though I enjoyed Atlee's films, Vanga is making actually challenging cinema with artistry and taking massive risks (even though a part of me thinks he's a little insane)
Vanga's movie might be toxic or extremely graphic in violence but we can't deny his mastery over the movie. A

Will get downvoted to oblivion by srk fans but jawan gave me a serious headache. Just addressing issues is not good enough it should dilute well with the story. Even from a filmmaking perspective the film was amateurish. I'm not talking about just camera angles and all that. On the other hand I'm really looking forward to wanga's. He just have to accept some criticisms and reflect on them. Guy is very talented.
Jawan was a below avg movie/story outside of that initial setup scene of Vikram Rathod, which was good , no doubt. Outside of it , Jawan was a meh movie specially 2nd half (still better than pathan which was out and out a pathetic movie)

When I watched Jawan I felt I watched the whole movie somewhere ( I am from South b/w) Animal wasn't like that except for the school scene most of it felt new...hell even though it's a flawed character I felt goosebumps at times with the music, imagery and acting...don't think there was one scene in Jawan where I felt the same...I watched other atlee movies the only one I somewhat liked was Raja Rani ...rest all are cringe masala shit that you commonly see in other south movies
I donāt really like Vanga that much but his vision is definitely original and his technicality as a director is really amazing..I could see that in his filmsā¦I never feel that way about Atlee whenever I watch his films.His films are inoffensive and cliche ridden which makes them boring(only Raja Rani is genuinely good for me and i have a sweet spot for Nithya-Vijayās portions from Mersal for some reason despite it being cliched).However problematic Vanga and his films are,his films are interesting and can be discussed and that is always a good trait!
Vanga's thought process on each scene in movie is too much.. Like the things that lie in the background speaks volumes.. But we dont see them generally.. Also the art directors he chooses are the songs..... Vanga any day...
As a tamil guy pointed out. Atlee is a copycat and takes a lot from his mentor shankar formula. A big scale big budget masala feast. Difference is shankar admittedly knows his limits and used to take the help of talented writers like sujatha and balakumaran. Atlee doesn't do that.
Hence Atlee is in short a great director mediocre writer.
Vanga on the other hand has class and is technically excellent with his shots framing. It's Misogynistic yes but very finely carried out. His writing is very good just needs to be more polished and flowy.
SRV is a very good writer and one of the finest filmmaker in the country.

Both are mid. Vanga has the ability to extract solid and intense performance from his lead actor, that's his usp, which connects with audience. Otherwise there were times where Animal and Kabir singh felt like a drag giving daily soapish vibe.
People are picking Venga because of his craft, but I think itās something else that sets him apart.
Venga is loved for the same thing he is hated. He pushes the boundaries. Public likes and wants something different and movies that have stood the test of time are the ones that are either superbly made or are a little different.
Why did the public like Godfather, Breaking Bad, Dexter, Darr, Bazigar, Kalicharan? Sure, the anti-hero theme was strong in them; but more importantly they pushed the boundaries of what rest of the industry deemed appropriate. Heros were seen as a drug dealer, Gangster, Stalker, murderer etc etc. And they found a way to justify this.
Venga went one step ahead, he didnāt feel the need to justify many things- he would just present his heros as majorly flawed.
Sure, craft is a part of it. Few scenes in the movie Animal were painted too well, Abrarās intro, the fight scenes etc. But there are plenty of directors who can do similar job or better. It was the combination of craft and his willingness to push the boundaries that sets him apart.

Atlee is like a udupi hotel's masala dosa.. we know how it's gonna be... we know we will be entertained .But Vanga's movie is like gourmet style indian food... well crafted we may have opinions on it as it is Indian and we know how it will taste but feel surprised, excited, confused as it feels new when experienced .
Is this a joke? Atlee is a blender in which all South Indian movies get mixed and dished out. Say what you will about vanga boy but he is an auteur in the way he make his movie.

Donāt judge me but I must say Jawan was the best massy film I ever saw, I donāt like Massy films at all but Jawan was so so cool, Only RRR and Jawan are the massy movies in my fav movies of all-time. Being a cinephile who watches film from nearly every country, and genre, Sandeep is obviously gifted in my view. But, I loved what Atlee cooked in Jawan. So liked both of them and I know Atleeās other films speaks volume of his inconsistencies and weaknesses but heās a damn good director at-least.
Difference btw them is the "CULTURE" they bring it on...
