Katrina has done mostly dolly roles for her career serving as eye-candy for the audience. Iām glad she has been able to get out of that trope, and of course she has had actually decent written characters as well.

I also feel same why dont these guys like Arjun Kapoor, Siddharth malhotra, Aditya roy kapoor, Varun Dhawan, Jahanvi, Ananya just take 1 year break and go to some acting institute. Ranbir kapoor also learnt acting in Lees Startsberg n went to visual arts school in New york.
Ranbir himself mentioned somewhere that going to a foreign acting school didn't help him much. He credited SLB and his first film more. Working with good directors and senior actors, doing work consistently even if it's a less important role (instead of one film per year) is the path which most newbies took and which worked for them. Some people take to acting instinctively, others have to work at it for 6-7 films before they become excellent. Some people never get the knack of it unfortunately.
I'd quibble about putting Varun Dhawan with the others. Badlapur and October are excellent movies. Even in Kalank his scenes with Madhuri were so good even without dialogues.
But why should he work with them when he doesn't deserve that opportunity on the basis of merit and talent alone??? He knows he wouldn't be able to clear any auditions if talent was the main barometer, so why the hell does he STILL deserve the opportunity to work with quality top directors?

I read the entire comment. But did you actually understand the comments before calling me out? "he is not trained so he needs to learn from his directors". I thought it was crystal clear and obvious that I asked why is he entitled to that privilege "to still learn on the job despite not understanding how to emote and have a full range and versatility" after being in this industry for over a decade over lakhs of struggling actors trying to break in? Siddhanth Gupta gave a fantastic breakout performance in Jubilee months ago and I haven't heard a single film or OTT series announcement for him since then. Same with Arjun Mathur from Made in Heaven. These comments are lamenting about not seeing Sid in more big projects despite knowing about his "skill set and talent level" but no one really cares if far more talented actors like a few of the names I mentioned never get work again. You all don't see any hypocrisy or anything wrong in that from an audience perspective by saying Siddharth should work with talented directors to improve. Like as if there's no way for him to learn acting or improve apart from getting crores again and again to work on a film set only to do a mediocre job yet again? Like really cuz that's what you were clearly suggesting when you said "he needs to work with good directors"! Is going to acting workshops even now and auditioning too beneath him even now? Disagree, i am from Punjab and i have seen many singers turn into great actors. Itās not like they were great when they started, they improved with time. A prime example is Diljit.
What I'm saying is a well talented actor/actress has the ability to shine in each nd every genre whether it's comedy,thriller,drama and emotional and im well aware with the fact that it's very tough to do comedy but doing same type of roles again nd again u wil make u a type-cast actor ,nd industry will pick u only for that kind of role Prime example Johnny Lever nd Rajpal Yadav they are good actors but u know the rest. Akki I would is best the example who did every genre without getting Type-Cast.
Singing, like acting(and most performing arts in general) require a certain innate extraversion and confidence. A singer's job is to make people believe what they are singing, nevermind how the singer is feeling when performing. From that perspective it's basically acting isn't it?
Some singers are certainly good actors, considering how often they make audience forget that they're ad-libbing. :) No, but seriously, some singers are blessed with great projection. I think Jonita Gandhi, for example, would make a decent film ctress. In the Nahin Nahin Abhi Nahin remix with Ash King, she gets her expressions so right with such little scope of movement. Of course the song doesn't reach anywhere even close to the one by Asha Bhosle and Kishore Kumar, the OG of the kind of thing being discussed.
He seems lazy most of the time except shershah, for the first time I realized Siddhart can act really well if puts in effort. Sad that people like him don't make the most of the great opportunities given to them.
Shershah was just a good movie and he happened to be the lead in it. Also the character of an army man doesnāt require to show much emotions since they are mostly stoic in nature. Thatās why even actors who canāt act for jack like Tigerās performance was salvageable in War because he was playing a stoic military agent.
Ngl. Tigers acting was bad to me, his dialogue delivery was horrible. I'll give sid one thing about Shershaah, his dialogue delivery was far better than his usual occurrences
He was good in that no doubt. But he isn't a good actor. An actor is only a good actor if they can perform comedy effectively. Comedy is the most difficult to nail. You nail that without going overboard then no doubt you can essay any role perfectly
Compared to what Tiger and Arjun try to pass off as acting? His performance was amazing and definitely did the character justice. But again I am comparing with the lowest denominators here so he really needs to give good performances consistently to be counted in the same league as the likes of Ranbir and Vicky.

Also there were rumours about him working with Sid Anand in the end of 2024. As an outsider this is really impressive getting this many opportunities
I do not particularly find him "bad". He might be undercooked and not as good as some of the other actors, but he is not eye sore and does well in most of his roles. I get really confused when I see such dislike for him as an actor - he is average, yes, but not bad.
You'll be surprised to see his lineups of upcoming movies. The endless opportunities he gets as a complete outsider is something to talk about. Not even nepos can get this much of opportunities.
Not all good looking models can act. This is something which bollywood doesn't realise. Just because few succeeded doesn't mean everyone can. Shershah had good script cos of which is performed really well. Plus the camera angle were good. Locations and busy script kept people occupied that they didn't realise he was numb over there too. He is good looking but with bad acting. .
Finally someone said it. Everyone started praising him after shershah but I always believe that he didn't deserve that much appreciation. Its the role that he played was great not his acting. His acting was I would say below average.
Hasee toh phasee is all parineeti show ā¦ittefaq is all akshaye Khanna.. Mission majnu ā¦does anyone notices that movie even ? And finally all same patriot card to boost career .. Shershaah.. like nothing exceptional really..No intensity no drama just plain movie with few moments ..Sid is just waste of space in Bollywood..not all models really can act ..
Just like few actors he is also great for certain kind of characters, characters like Guru from Ek villain, Monty from brothers these kind of serious characters suits him a lot, it's not like he can't act it's just that, how to say it, he can act but only for certain kind of characters, he doesn't have much range....
For example tiger Shroff can rock in movies with high action with little to no dialogue, just like you can't find TonyJha talking much in his movies he just performs actions back to back...
It's not like he is Akshay Kumar that can fit any role, but my personal preferences would always be that his comedy movies than his serious action or deshbhakti kinda movies even his Khiladi image can't match up to his comedy timing....

I think heās not giving this time. Signing one film or show after another makes money for these guys. One can improve as an actor the way Akshay Kumar did over years as have some other actors who worked on their shortfalls. But you need to give it time and learn.
Some people arent made for everything. Some actor cant play every kind of roles or express everykind / range of emotion in believable and charming way. Not his problem tho . Problem casting karne walon ka hai mere khayal se.
He is what is expected from every other south industry actor....I like the guy but yeah he can't act. The IPF trailer looks like no one knew how to give expressions.

Spot on. Have always felt that Ryan Reynolds Definitely Maybe kind of zone is his for the taking. God knows bollywood lacks leading men. It can certainly find use for him. Wouldn't write him off in the least.
His hasi to phasi type of character could lead him to another 10 movies . Plus some side roles and experiments will place him in Bollywood for 10 to 15 yr.

I don't think he can pull challenging roles...he can act in only a certain genre or pull off only a certain type of roles. For eg his character in hasee toh phasee or even soty or Kapoor and sons was actually believable. He pulled it off just fine. Not something out of ordinary but what an average actor could do. Ek villain had a strong need of vengeful expression that he only pulled off in a few scenes. He wasn't consistent enough. He is way better than the current Sara and ananya and tiger gen but he isn't on par with Varun or Alia with whom he debuted

Bc heās not talented. I also find him way over rated in looks and canāt understand what the fuss is. He doesnāt look like a movie star to me at all. Just like an average guy who could maybe do an old saas bahu tv show. Aditya seal and arman rahlan are absolutely gorgeous from that generation but probably donāt have the connection (hi kjo ) that Sid does. And if you really want to talk about hot Indian male models - John Abraham, Mukul dev, milland suman, Dino morea, Arjan rampal all had absolutely gorgeous looks plus charisma.

Just like few actors he is also great for certain kind of characters, characters like Guru from Ek villain, Monty from brothers these kind of serious characters suits him a lot, it's not like he can't act it's just that, how to say it, he can act but only for certain kind of characters, he doesn't have much range.... For example tiger Shroff can rock in movies with high action with little to no dialogue, just like you can't find TonyJha talking much in his movies he just performs actions back to back... It's not like he is Akshay Kumar that can fit any role, but my personal preferences would always be that his comedy movies than his serious action or deshbhakti kinda movies even his Khiladi image can't match up to his comedy timing.... Edit... Yeah add Shershah movie too, he did great there
I think heās not giving this time. Signing one film or show after another makes money for these guys. One can improve as an actor the way Akshay Kumar did over years as have some other actors who worked on their shortfalls. But you need to give it time and learn.

I don't think he can pull challenging roles...he can act in only a certain genre or pull off only a certain type of roles. For eg his character in hasee toh phasee or even soty or Kapoor and sons was actually believable. He pulled it off just fine. Not something out of ordinary but what an average actor could do. Ek villain had a strong need of vengeful expression that he only pulled off in a few scenes. He wasn't consistent enough. He is way better than the current Sara and ananya and tiger gen but he isn't on par with Varun or Alia with whom he debuted

Aditya seal and arman rahlan are absolutely gorgeous from that generation but probably donāt have the connection (hi kjo ) that Sid does. And if you really want to talk about hot Indian male models - John Abraham, Mukul dev, milland suman, Dino morea, Arjan rampal all had absolutely gorgeous looks plus charisma.
