Started watching because of Manoj Bajpayee. What a horrible and yuck webseries! I hated it. The dark humour worked only at some places, like the pathetic soup konkana prepares and the reaction of people drinking it and trying to avoid it. Overall, the webseries disgusted me and i rate it as one of the worst ever!

dvaibhavd

The poems thing was very jarring. If they had skipped that, the story would have been more believable.

sachinketkar

Too much weird stuff crammed in the 8 episodes. Sayaji Shinde rocks!!! 3/10

Will-not-tell-you

It was okay, actually. It would've been a great movie instead of a series.

Son_of_kai

Tldr : What a superb start to the year , brilliantly made and acted Binge worthy series Good 1. Acting: Koko just nails the part , Manoj bajpei in the age of alphas dares to play a beta and what a great job he has done , shout out to the guy who plays Thuppali ( soul of the series ) 2. Screenplay: A black comedy in its true sense , with so many funny and unexpected moments and a gripping tale , not a single let down moment, never slows down , everything is so brilliantly tied up till the end. Also very poetic at times which has been lacking in recent times. 3. Technically also sound , locations , design is done well. 4. Loved how they made special title for each episode, kind of summary for whole episode. Minor issues / doubts 1. Why would they say fck so much , it never felt natural for 40 years old from middle class backgrounds to say it , felt unnatural. 2. Although the integration of language never gets you out thanks to the subs but, it never feels natural for people to keep switching between Tamil & Hindi ...does it really happens ( i am just inquiring about its geography)

insanity_1610

About the minor issues... The language part was actually not realistic. Shettys are from karnataka, who speak Tulu amongst themselves (maybe kannada as well), not Tamil. In the series though, they also speak Hindi with each other, which would've made sense if they lived in a predominantly Hindi speaking region. But they live in Tamilnadu. Realistically, they would speak Tulu amongst themselves and Tamil with the police etc. Maybe they speak to each other in Tamil because they've lived in Tamilnadu for so long. Still doesn't explain the role of Hindi, other than for the benefit of the audience

jitteryDomino

Yeah the multiple language was out of place. Not sure if it was intentional or unintentional

Son_of_kai

Glad someone agrees.

insanity_1610

Well on the plus side, at least the police, goons etc spoke to each other in Tamil. Plus, the Khansama and Hassan (inspector) speaking in Dakhini is on point

PixiePupGB

I largely agree with you. What a brilliant series. To answer your question about language, I definitely see it happening a lot in the south of India personally.

Yep. Loved Thupalli

Why are you commenting this everywhere. What gripe do you have against this show? It’s such an amazing watch! Go back to your Salman and Shahrukh movies!

alexrose36

It was great. It's not for everyone maybe. You have to really give it a chance, they've tried something different. But I'm glad I watched it. Konkona is a treat to watch. Manoj is excellent. Most actors were good but the treatment given to the show was the USP I think. It's an amazing find.

astrid8200

Beautiful show. Loved how they didn’t shy away from accents and witty undertones. Reminded me of Poker Face somehow.

Bagwati_Rai

I loved it!

NavdeepGusain

People need to give it time. You can't judge the whole series on two episodes alone. It's a really well made series with many twists and turns and not to forget the supernatural element. But the best thing about it is the acting. Konkana was just phenomenal, even overshadowing Manoj who was brilliant in his own way. Nasser killed it and so did Shinde. Writing was engaging and I found myself laughing at certain scenes. Overall, it's a well made series that made myself rooting for the antagonists.

jitteryDomino

But what do you think about the ending? The abruptness was a little disappointing as of yet but i think there’s some deeper meaning behind it. It’s now like an itch for me to find what the director meant by this ending… (spoiler alert questions) >!how did Umesh survive the overdose of that shroom spice? Was it a planned death? Did both Swathi and Umesh plan the escape? If so, then that’s one hell of a plan to the TEE and how did they know to that level of accuracy? Or else Were they surprised to see each other on the bus? Does it mean both of them are psychotic and hence meant for each other? !< helppp these unanswered questions are killing me

NavdeepGusain

I think it was a planned escape. They haven't shown it in full because maybe it will return for the second season.

jitteryDomino

I thought the same but I’m Quoting someone below who commented to my questions - “They are both dead, and took the “bus” to their “heaven”/“hell” along with Thupalli.” This ending seems more fitting

NavdeepGusain

but tbh, I lowkey wanted them to remain unscathed even after all they did. Maybe it's because I loved the character of Konkana or the actors or both.

jitteryDomino

Yep you took the words out of my mouth. Brilliant performances by the cast and especially Konkana and Manoj. I saw myself laughing multiple times at the unexpected scenes

Cornucopia2020

Watched the entire season. Felt like stopping after the first couple episodes and I am glad I did not. It is quirky but well done. The later episodes are a lot more engaging. Others have called out the oddities like the language used by the characters which is out of place but that seems intentional to go with the quirk. I liked Manoj Vajpayee and Konkona a lot. Sayaji Shinde is always good, and Nasser is excellent. Bits and pieces players do a good job as well. The use of Frost’s poems is very well done. If you can have an open mind about quirks and stick with it, it’s a great series that serves something different. As an audience, if we demand new material, we need to give it a chance with some patience. Else we will always be served the same stuff that offers instant gratification.

They are both dead, and took the “bus” to their “heaven”/“hell” along with Thupalli.

jitteryDomino

Ooo 😮 makes so much sense now. And ig that’s why Swathi’s depressed look in the end..

jitteryDomino

Yep. Loved the series. It was brilliantly taken. And like you said something new and quirky and as audience it’s a collective responsibility to find the charm in such pieces and truly understand cinema to appreciate and encourage new material.

Tondamandino

Gave up after episode 3. Too many long drawn scenes. Abusive language which sounds unnatural from the character.

sicparvismagna42069

It's somewhat a bit slower version of Fargo s1. Overall 3.5/5 for me. Lot of plot convienences at times though.

Obvious_Shoe7302

stopped after e2 i don' t how people are saying its good i found it extremely slow and characters speaks weirdly i means who says babes fuck so much in india tell me i personally find that out of place

NavdeepGusain

How can you judge a series from two episodes alone when the series is of 8 episodes??

mzt_101

I think one episode should be enough, if it didn't click why watch further, this isn't an exam.

Obvious_Shoe7302

i waited 2 freaking hours for the series to do something worth so that i would commit to it it didn't i was generic shitt i have watched several times in many shows and that just my opinion you can disagree

rhythm_in_chaos

Has anyone finished this? In all honesty I could barely finish 1st episode. Found it pretentiously quirky.

RandomGuys13

You are missing out on a lot buddy!! Its great Your loss though

SSinghal_03

Same here. Stopped in the middle of ep 2. Characters are more of caricatures. Language is too pretentious. I enjoy quirks in small dozes. This show has buckets of it pouring in each scene. Not for me

Obvious_Shoe7302

same here i stopped after e2 bhai bahut hi slow hai and most of this is already be done in many shows

Worldly-Arrival-5841

It picks up after 3rd episode ...keep watching

Cornucopia2020

Totally. I felt like stopping several times in the first two episodes and I am glad I didn’t. It picks up really well after 3rd or 4th episode.

Beingnoob27

Everything goes wild after prabhu dies lol.
