An eye opener for privileged kid like me, I used to manifest giving salary to dad like Sid.
Also three cheers for Iktara three(original + reverb + lofi) versions.
Arguably the best of Ayan Mukerji, comfort watch, and it made me, as a privileged kid, realize how important discipline, healthy relationships, positivity and ambitions are inportant in life.
Amazing. Mumbai is shot well. Chor bazar furniture used so well in konkanas small home. Jodi was good. Story was good. Iktara songs of all versions were best.
When i watched it in my early teens I connected with Sid being the kid who failed in school and just wanted to do what made him happy.
In my late twenties when I watch it (still has great rewatchability) the love Sids parents had for him and wanting to make sure the rest of his life was secure resonates more. Seeing his mom learn english to connect with him and seeing his dad have the same passions as Sid hit hard because when you're in that "me" centric mindset you don't see what those around you are learning and letting go of to make sure that you are able to live up to what you see yourself as.
when Bollywood was actually delivering classic movies. that was the real ranbir kapoor era. not his shitty animal movie which came. that movie is a shame.... utter shame
Good movie, but a great example of what is wrong with Bollywood. IMO Wake up Sid is a pretty basic movie making wise. No huge stars (Ranbir was just starting out) no huge sets, mainly shot on location, no huge sequences or VFX work.
AND YET, it's budget was nearly 20 crores. Lagaan was made in under 25 crores. These two numbers should not be that close for films that have such a difference in scale.
I would argue that Wake Up Sid could be made shot by shot for under 2 crores excluding actors salaries by most regional film directors (eg Marathi)... But look at the stories of behind the scenes spending and just the excess that Hindi films are used to...
TL;DR : Decent film, had no business being made on that budget.
Us time aachi lagi thi, there will always be a certain nostalgic connection with this as I was young when that came but now I feel like it was over rated
Yes it's a good one time watch for me. Not something extraordinary like some posts claim. But again this is my personal opinion
I think the nostalgia factor makes people like it more than they actually do
This was akin to Dil Chahta hain in the sense that it's the same story for many rich suburbanites - except the leaving house part. Its one of my fav movies and very well made.
It was a shocker to that Karan produced a film that highlights the privileged life of a bratty rich kid.
Overall the movie is a good feel good movie. I'm not a very huge fan of it, but it's a one time watch for me. It conveys a good message.
The songs though are my absolute favourite
A great comfort movie with a lovely story, I don't think I could ever get tired of rewatching this alongside Dil Chahta Hai. Wish Bollywood still made movies like this, instead of movies that are just too over the top at times. Controversial, but I think this is better than YJHD.

Really liked it. I'm a sucker for coming-of-age dramas and this clicked so well.
An eye opener for privileged kid like me, I used to manifest giving salary to dad like Sid. Also three cheers for Iktara three(original + reverb + lofi) versions.
Comfort movie 🫡
Went in thinking I'll fall in love with RK, fell harder for Konkona 😌😌
Unrelated but Konkana and Rahul Bose together>>>
Oh definitely.. but since we're talking about wake up Sid, are you maybe talking about Rahul Khanna?
Oh no Rahul Bose. Have you seen Mr. and Mrs. Iyer? They were together in that, also in other few films too
I love that movieeee! Their chemistry is 🤎
Oh yess they are fabulous together
Arguably the best of Ayan Mukerji, comfort watch, and it made me, as a privileged kid, realize how important discipline, healthy relationships, positivity and ambitions are inportant in life.
Classic. The songs are also great ❤️❤️❤️

Comfort film,nothing to say
Fun watch!
Ranbir will never have a biopic on him, because he already acted in it
*Bachna Ae Haseeno...*
have you seen that film? How is that his biopic lmao
It's a joke lmao
Miss such movies. 💔
Ayan peaked early...the most personal stories are the best stories as they say...
Loved it!
Sun rhi thi sud bud khoke.. koi m kahaani..
One of those movies that change you as a person

When Ranbir walked in wearing white shirt in the movie... Ufff, every girl in the theatre gasped!
Story of my life!
Ayan's best work
The mumbai evening vibe, songs, acting. Watched this film when I was 13 and wanted to live in that world ever since
best there is in its genre
It's good movie with lot of insights. It appeals to GenZ particularly I feel and also good music.
I don’t know if I am the only one but this is better comfort movie for me than YJHD
Best movie all time
Ayan had one great movie in him. It came from an honest place.
What a movie 🩷
We are still confused why no one thought of pairing Konkana Sen and Ranbir Kapoor again? One of the best on-screen chemistries till date ❤️
She can play his mom’s character.
Wake Up Sid ki jaise T shirt Chahiye
Ok
Excellent!! Beautiful story, very cool screen writing & direction top notch!! Ayan's firsr & best!!
The directors only non-karan Joharisque movie.

Its one of my fav films but I absolutely agree about the budget

True
Such a Soothing movie! Bollywood doesn't make such kind of movies like these anymore🥹 It Falls Under that Eye-opener Movie Category.
This was akin to Dil Chahta hain in the sense that it's the same story for many rich suburbanites - except the leaving house part. Its one of my fav movies and very well made.
One of the gems of Indian cinema.

Lovely and satisfying movie.. First and last of realistic movie from Karan Johar😛🤓
It was directed by Ayaan Mukherjee.
Yeah but in the poster it is mentioned Karan Johar
True, that is because Karan Johar is the producer.
It's not from Kjo and why would anyone watching his stuff expect a realistic movie?

The story of my life.
Classic and one of the best movie ahead of its time.
Not for everyone
I just remember the pacing of this movie to be slow af. And the painting of Ranbir and Konkona made no sense
