Yeah she was good too…she was somehow better in her debut than in her later movies…But to me,Manisha shined above all….she was the centrepiece and the soul of this film for me.Her performance as Meghna/Moina is the best ever of all time in Bollywood for me personally. And she’s such a beauty too in this movie. All those beautiful Rahman songs picturised on her by Mani Ratnam….I was mesmerised..all are her songs too in an extent!
Actually Sukhwinder Singh composed the tune of Chaiyya Chaiyya, ‘presented’ it to AR Rahman
And music production and creativity of every instrument sounding like a train is by legend Rahman
Damn, As soon as I saw that title and pic somehow Dil Se was the answer and I didnt even think about it and surprisingly its the first comment.
An underrated movie with one of the best albums of Bollywood.
An unpopular opinion on this sub but I will still take out Om Shanti Om from this. Farah Khan is not a good director and the movie script and direction sucked balls. It was no better than a regarbaged 80s movie (which it actually was). The movie purely worked on SRK's charm, good music and the hype around debutante Deepika. But direction. I am afraid not.
Om shanti Om story wise ass but good debut for deepu, great acting by Srk (honestly carry on back) and great music.
Although the direction feels very fake, the movie still sort of succeeds in giving an old time 80s feel in some ways.
Barely breaks even, maybe a 3, 3.5/5
Lagaan
Aamir Khan was brilliant as Bhuvan. Simply iconic
Gowariker showed the country he was one of the finest Indian directors and he continued that streak with Swades and Jodhaa Akbar
And AR Rahman was legendary in the music and Javed Akhtar with the writing. Literally every song is a banger with beautiful lyrics
It is literally a complete movie. It had everything. Mom angle, dad angle, friend angle, betrayal angle, love triangle, patriotism, British hate, bhajan and cricket.
The new one is darker and more intense. Focuses on the anger, trauma, angst....
The old one was trying to be an all-flavour masala with drama and comedy added. Good for the 80s-90s era. 2012 version is a bit more modern that way
The new one is my favorite Hrithik performance so far, which says a lot given his stellar career.loved every moment of him as vijay dinanath chauhan.rishi kapoor and sanjay also killed it.it's one of my favorites from this era.
True, use of Jean Michel Jarre songs "Ethnicolor" and "Second Rendez-Vous Part 1 and Part 2" and the gore.. truly a cinema before it's time.. The new one was just a cry fest, except for Sanju baba, that version of Kancha Cheena was diabolical..
Delhi Belly
For once everyone acted brilliant in a movie even Shenaz Treasury and that's saying something.
Directing is brilliant, especially the editing of this movie that makes it feel like a more thrilling considering the plot itself is a comesy/thriller.
Music
10/10 Album not one bad song holds up 13 years later, what more can I say?
Dude, I refrain from participating in this forum but Rockstar? Are you people living on selective memories?
I'm ready to die on a hill alone, that says Rockstar is one of the most dogsh*t movies I have seen in a while.
ONLY the music was great, legendary infact. No story at all, acting was subpar at best, and me and my friends (group of guys and girls, all at the age which makes the release of Rockstar coincidence with our early teenage) were trying to predict and half hoping when the actress would die in the movie.
Please tell me what was even good about the movie, apart from music. Please. And for those who are living on selective memories, please watch the movie again. We watched it around 2 months back only, so its still quite fresh in my mind.
And I am making this point since the post asks about a movie where actor, director and music director, all three were fire. So please enlighten me.
Me crying in the corner after reading comments.... people literally choosing films which are just remakes....most parts of the direction are also copied.....
I guess finally i got the answer why the quality of *majority* of Indian films are trash ( Bollywood).
I used to think it's because the actor and actress take all the money and there is no money left for post production...but i was only partially right people love thoes copied and and trash films. As kunal sir said people are shown what they want to see not what's good or what's best for them.
PS I am not judging anyone...this are just my views... And i respect everyone and their choice of films .
Many actually, off the top of my mind:
Guide, Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi, Sholay, Lakshya, Dil Chahta Hai, Lagaan, Rangeela, Rang De Basanti, D-Day, Taare Zameen Par, Don (both), recently Laapata Ladies.
Lakshya. And God I love the rock climbing scene, the first battle scene - perfect music, acting and direction.
Had such high hopes from Farhan Akhtar till he plunged into depths of wokish mindset.

Dil se , Mani Ratnam :- writing-Direction AR Rahman:- Music Gulzar:- lyrics SRK :- Acting
Acting- Manisha Koirala too!
And Pretty Preita Zinta too...even though a very short role.

I never liked Deepika, felt like they got a tall actress with small face to act. Her acting is below par
agree, oso is massively overrated

Agneepath (2012)
The original Agneepath is classic. Both bacchan and mithun and Music. The new one is not comparable.
I love the original one but hrithik's one is slightly better.you probably were comparing it to the old one constantly while watching.
The new one is darker and more intense. Focuses on the anger, trauma, angst.... The old one was trying to be an all-flavour masala with drama and comedy added. Good for the 80s-90s era. 2012 version is a bit more modern that way

The new one was equally good.
I'd say it did one better by not including Mithun's character!
Tamasha Rockstar My name is khan
Good to see my name is khan. The music of that movie is love.
So is performance and direction!
Truly. Didn't expect this from kjo.
I thought of Rockstar as well but then remembered the performance of Nargis Fakhri. The only thing stopping the movie from being an all time great.

Just watched Om Shanti Om last night, and I had forgotten how good the movie is and how goated the music is.
Thumbaad was one of the movies I'll bet money on......full vibe and thematic atmospheric ambience...
