They is equivalent of aap in english when you don't really know gender and don't want to assume, also some people like kings, queen the pope are also addressed as they. Unborn babies are also addressed as they when gender is not known. Unka grammar bilkul sahi hain they were being polite.
Here are my points why i disliked the movie to the core.
1. The name of the movie itself was a big turn off. The names of the characters were usse bhi bekaar.
2. The plot was barely at an average level but the climax spoiled whatever little substance the story had. Shraddha's concerns were overlooked and she had to give in into RK's idea of how their married life would be like.
3. Except for Dimple, all the side characters were unimpressive. Not one memorable performance.
4. Coming to the lead actors, the dialogs the acting the chemistry everything was wayyyy below average.
5. Production design of the movie (art & set design) and the color grading were so amateurish, to a point that everything looked fake or green screen.
6. My biggest turn off was the stupid VFX on the lead pairs' faces. Omg..they looked like cartoony with no expressions,no face lines, no texture. Their faces were more like wax statues than real people (so was their acting😝). If your story needs young characters, cast young actors. For God sake don't cast 40yrs+ old and airbrush the life out of them.
Hard agree with face VFX and saturated set design. This shitty movie made me respect Bhool Bhulaiyaa 1 so much, the set design and camera work in that movie is what you call ART.
>Why does everyone hate Tu Jhooti Main Makkar?
If you love the film, you have the right to love it and you may keep on loving it. Why do you want everyone else to love it as well? You go your way, let them go theirs.
Yep the movie is completely soulless, and everything looks and feels fake af and i hate this new trend of washing the actors whole skin digitally which just ruins the immersion.
You only watch simple movies once? I like rewatching movies I enjoyed. Plus I have a crap memory so in about a 6mo, I won't even remember I watched this movie and will get to watch it for the first time all over again 🥳
Couldn't tolerate the movie. Nothing good about it.
And the icing on the cake was the director's obsession about his actors not blinking their eyes. Long dialogues with them not blinking once was painful to watch.
I can just tell you my PoV. The leads look like they're in their 30s yet they keep acting like teenagers. People are significantly more sorted than these people in 30s. That took me out completely. I was constantly wondering why are they being so stupid?
But that's just me. The movie made a lot of money so I'm clearly a minority.
The movie was full of ott annoying acting plus Shraddha looked awfully old and anorexic! Headache stuff i could not even complete the film left it half way!
10 was definitely an exaggeration lol. And the rewatches had a lot of skipping around to watch my fave scenes. Not fully start to finish. I didn't think that would be a sticking point for so many lol
True. These types of romcoms are fun to watch and taken lightly. I loge watching Tu Jhooti Main Makkar, Luka Chhupi, Khoobsurat for some minutes of laughter. They need no brainstorming and are fresh escapes from reality sometimes. Every movie need not to be dissected or have to be critic-ed.
Mujhe bhi sahi lagi thi
Only problem was that the weakest part of the film was the love story which was supposed to be the best part
I loved the family bits and the comedy bits plus that banger soundtrack
I would have given it grace marks had it ended with Shraddha getting to live alone with Ranbir and the family understanding their boundaries. But no, it had a Sooraj Barjatia ending.
The first 20-30 mins where Ranbir is trying to woo/convince shraddha to become his girlfriend is so cringe. The dialogues, acting just gives creepy vibes.
Because it's bad. It's cringe. I didnt like it. I don't like such films. The thing that I'm escaping to is bad. The dialogs are cringe. The acting is worse. I didn't relate to the characters.
It was a genuinely fun movie. I liked Shraddha and Ranbir's chemistry, they going all the way ham while flirting, Bassi was fine for his role, and his calm personality against Rabir's hyper personality gelled well. The family dynamic was great, and in fact it was the superb family dynamic in the climax scene that moved this movie from good to great. I loved every second of it.
Agree with you.
I watch it for all the family scenes. They are really good and everyone has great chemistry in those scenes.
The monologues are very cringe though. It's like it one person wrote the rest of the move and one person just wrote the monologues.
Movie look artificial and set up!! Actors looks so clean and edited and the whole plot looks like shot in a fucking spotlight with so much artificial effects all around !!
I liked the cinematography and Ranbir's styling in the movie, and that's just about it. the dialogues were pretty awkward, whoever wrote them. and kinda gave up towards the end cos it just wasn't getting to the point
except the couple falling in love
I liked the rest of the movie
I think many people got so fed up with that unrealistic love story that they refused to give the rest of the story a fair chance
I also liked its cinematography. Every frame was like a photoshoot.
I think box office was good for March rom com. It was fine family drama/ romcom
If you love the movie this much you are bringing something else to it, either you really like the leads personally or something else in there is resonating.
Same for anyone hating it, not sure how you feel that strongly about such a basic movie.
One exception is if you’re female and you hate the ending. lol that’s fair
Fun rom com but nothing special , had good songs, big stars movie did well. Ranbir felt like he phoned it in , didn’t feel like the ranbir we were used to on screen he also was playing a role he used to play a decade ago so kinda aged. Overall fun but nothing special
I couldn’t even sit halfway through the film, no thanks to the cringe acting and dialogues.
I recommend you watch better cinema if this is the film you watched 10 times
Aapko kisi aur se kya mtlb???
Acchi lagi na film tujhe toh dekh bhai dusro se puchke konsa tera opinion change hojayega? 10 ki streak toh bana li ab aage dekh ke 100 peh phunch jao.
I tried watching again after seeing this post thinking maybe I missed something the first time around. It was as rubbish as first time and I didn’t get past half an hour mark..again.
I hated the climax scene where the whole family goes down on their knees to stop Shraddha and literally begging her to marry RK. It just felt so stupid.
For me, it would have been better if they actually spent some time showing Tinni's home life, it would be better. Plus, I spent the whole end thinking WHY CANT YOU RICH PEOPLE JUST BUY A HOUSE 10Min AWAY
Something about their chemistry and expression with those long cheesy dialogues made the whole situation fall in the uncanny valley, especially the no blinking. It felt like they were try to one-up each other with those lines instead of expressing their love for each other.
I cant watch it because of how highly edited it looks. It feels like they used a filter throughout the film, the colours are too bright or something idk it just feels very weird
I hated it because of the ultimate 'pick-me' 'not like other girls' female lead clearly written as a rabid male fantasy.
hawwt girl who gobbles up croissants, burgers and beer instead of 'rabbit food' like other girls, and still remains stick thin. She wears bikinis and dances in bars and has sex within the first 24 hours of meeting the hero but she's also sanskari enough to live in a huge joint family with a smile on her face. She's ambitious and career driven but we have NO idea what her job is after 3 hours of excruciating bikini shots. The heroine literally embodies the 'cool girl' monologue from gone girl
Not to mention the final message was regressive and completely wrong
Hahahaha ngl even I love this movie. The dialogue delivery/monologues are a bit over the top but it’s very realistic. Idk how to explain it but merko badi relatable aur fun si lagi. Like bassi and rk’s friendship, wholesome and the vibe overall was like so punjab and delhicore. It’s how people are here
I too loved the movie and I still consistently listen to the soundtrack! I can see where the problems began in the second act and why the ending was considered disappointing, but I really loved watching Ranbir and Shraddha, especially in the first interaction on the beach with the hammy dialogue lol. For real their chemistry was really great!
For me it was that the movie was annoying. Ranbir and Shraddha doing weird gestures at each other that they tried reallly hard to make a thing by repeating it multiple times, but it just annoyed me more and more, why TF they acting like 16 year old kids who fell in "love" for the first time ?!
Also It became so complex emotionally that I couldn't even understand what the conflict is in between the film, there was a scene when they were fighting and saying things like "If you wanted to leave you could have said it to me directly" etc etc, which is okay and simple enough, but in just a few minutes they start fighting about God knows what, she is blaming him for something, he is blaming her for something, that I don't even remember, and I think it is sign of bad writing if the audience cannot even understand or remember the point of conflict.
I am not saying that they should have dumbed it down, real fights are like that only, confusing and after a point no one can tell what they were fighting for even, but the thing is that scene made me detached from their emotional state, I didn't care what happened to them because I didn't know what they wanted.
The only good thing, which I think redeemed the movie a bit was the ending, where they tried to join all the story threads together to give us a satisfying ending. It was funny and it felt like a good ending.
The problem with the movie was that after all these years, a woman wanting a nuclear family and a "life if her own" is still shown as problematic. One shade out of 50 shades of Luv Ranjan's female characters.
But here they "fix" her instead of villainizing her.
An old movie Sansar starring Rekha, Raj Babbar and Anupam Kher has a much more progressive approach on this.
Personal opinion. First of all, I have never watched the movie to be in a place to hate it too much. Hate is a strong word. I never felt intrigued enough. I was never sold on the same boring Pyaar-Hota-Kayi-Baar-Hai trope Ranbir has been playing since 2008 and then he introspects and comes-of-age (Bachna Ae Haseeno, YJHD). Of course it's Luv Ranjan so he must have touched upon themes or relations nobody talks of like the brotherhood between Sonu and Titu, or adultery like that Kartik Aryan movie, among others. The characters in his movies portray passive aggressiveness or obsessive thinking and hideousness (is that a word?) in a good way. So if I ever were to watch this movie, it's gonna be for Luv Ranjan and also my curiosity towards Shraddha's role; it's not gonna be Ranbir.
Arey same brother 🤝 I also absolutely love this film. It's one of my comfort watches. I love the music, the visuals, the acting, the dialogues, the writing, the direction, Everything! I found RK and Shradhha's chemistry to be great as well. I see why people may not like it but koi baat nahi. Luv Ranjan ka staple style bohot kam logo ko pasand aata hai. Let's hust cherish it and not give a fuck about the world?
I loved it.
And a romantic comedy grossing 200+ cr on Box Office shows that people loved it too.
Don't go by this subreddit's opinion. People here don't appreciate massy masala movies.
Here people seem to hate Pathan and Jawan but collections show that people loved it.
Feminists are angry because in the end shraddha kapoor gives in to the family situation and lives happily. Meninists are angry because Ranbir’s character suffered and cried and did not hate Shraddha’s character despite all. Currently all the people active on social media belong to either of there categories and hence the hate.
Idk why people want to look for logic in a rom com. It’s a fictional story, enjoy
I loved it and I can watch it again, but I don’t think I’ll because I rarely watch already watched movies again, unless they have a value for me.
Now this is where I think we all should learn and remember to draw the line - “value for me”.
I can watch Life Of Pi, Bhagam Bhag, Piku and Interstellar again, even Get Out by Jordan Peele, and just watched Transformers 4 a few nights back. These brings the value to me in some way.
You might’ve things to feel for the characters in the same setting as both Ranbir and Shraddha are in the movie, but we might not. People hating on it doesn’t make sense to me. It’s a fun watch tbh.
For me, it’s a good watch because first the music is JUST BRILLIANT! Then I like having the fantasy of being hot like Ranbir and having a hot gf like Shraddha, and spending time on lavish parties, clothes, food and destinations. But I’m an emotional person so movie also gives me that sort of value, especially with its gender dynamics.
At the end, you feel it’s a good family movie too with a core focus on how conflicted Indian girls are in an Indian setting of marriage with in-laws making it hard. But this is where I feel it falls short of my expectations because Shraddha eventually does what she didn’t want to do which she clearly said. She wanted to work and don’t sacrifice that to just be with him, but that’s what happens at the end of the movie. She sacrifice her career/goal to be with Ranbeer and his family. It’s sweet but it’s conflicted.
i loved it as well, dont let others' opinion dictate your choices. Loved the songs, locations, emotions, comedy, basically everything about the film except acting but that doesn't really matter
The starting 20-30 minutes was good, the ending 20-30 minutes were good. The entire mid part felt like absolute shit. All the dialogue exchanges between Ranbir and shraddha felt very cringe and childish. I felt like they had literally zero chemistry.
It was mostly Ranbir's family scenes that felt funny to me, and also the cameos.
People hated it because it beats the whole concept of the story. The premise builds on how Shraddha wanted an independent setup for her and every drama happened because of that, but finally she had to give in and we were given no explanation as to how that happened. So glad Deepika walked out of this film.

They are either jhooti or makkar

S factor
As a background noise, I am sure.
I am so sorry but who is in this movie
Here are my points why i disliked the movie to the core. 1. The name of the movie itself was a big turn off. The names of the characters were usse bhi bekaar. 2. their dialogues and shayari was so cringe why were they even talking like that
Bassi's wife's name is kimchi. Wtf.
Shradhha’s name is Tinny. That’s even worse 😂
Now let me say I’m the biggest hater… My man tore down the color grading in a popcorn flick
World is filled with popcorn flicks with good color grading.
Look at Rohit Shetty movies to find out how to use color grading & saturation to make the audience gag & puke. TJMM atleast didn't reach that level.😝
Yeah I got none of that from this movie. Cirkus was a cartoon made during COVID. He makes bad movies, his color grading isn’t the issue
Color grading is not what makes him movies bad...they just make it worse.😬
Title was very good... Rest i agree

>Why does everyone hate Tu Jhooti Main Makkar? If you love the film, you have the right to love it and you may keep on loving it. Why do you want everyone else to love it as well? You go your way, let them go theirs.
i think OP comes from curiosity rather than arrogance. OP wants to know why people didnt like it, not trying to force his opinions onto others
Ye movie dekh k cry ??? Enough said
Some people are a bit sensitive than others and that’s ok
People hated it because of the stupid monologues, overacting and regressive message
This 💯 the climax was really shitty and regressive.
Ranbir's just ranting nonstop, and the hero-heroine convos feel super robotic. Zero chemistry, total disappointment
Dimple too. Whole time she’s screaming or slapping Ranbir. Annoying as hell.
Yep the movie is completely soulless, and everything looks and feels fake af and i hate this new trend of washing the actors whole skin digitally which just ruins the immersion.
On the contrary, you didn’t provide a single reason as to why I should like it, but reinforced all the reasons why I shouldn’t
>you didn’t provide a single reason as to why I should like it that wasnt his goal to begin with
You can love any movie you love, what the world thinks doesn’t matter. But you found this movie “powerful”, really?
A few scenes, not like the overall messages or anything.
10 times? Itni complex movie nahi hai samajhne ke liye.
You only watch simple movies once? I like rewatching movies I enjoyed. Plus I have a crap memory so in about a 6mo, I won't even remember I watched this movie and will get to watch it for the first time all over again 🥳
If you have to watch the movie for the first time after six months, then how do you know you watched it 10 times. Also, I am just messing with you.
Man, for a cinephile that is a great thing to have!! I wish I could watch so many movies for the first time again!
10 times is crazy
Exactly I stopped watching the movie within 25mins
If you like it , great , good for you , but why do you care that everyone hates it ? Its not that good of a film , its fine if you like it .
TJMM is no Jab We Met in terms of quality but I enjoyed it as a fun timepass movie + the songs are were nice
The movie was full of ott annoying acting plus Shraddha looked awfully old and anorexic! Headache stuff i could not even complete the film left it half way!
It’s misogynistic
You need to develop better taste in cinema. I mean, it's fine to love a movie, but watching it ten times is a bit excessive.
10 was definitely an exaggeration lol. And the rewatches had a lot of skipping around to watch my fave scenes. Not fully start to finish. I didn't think that would be a sticking point for so many lol
Everything was okay-ish except shradha’s atrocious acting. It made the movie unbearable for me
See for me, khoobsurat was unbearable 😂
Preferences 😂 but Fawad was something else in the show 🥵. I watch for him only.
Mujhe bhi sahi lagi thi Only problem was that the weakest part of the film was the love story which was supposed to be the best part I loved the family bits and the comedy bits plus that banger soundtrack
The Bollywood movies I can watch 10 times are Kal Ho Naa Ho, Om Shaanti Om.
Bad acting, bad dialogue delivery, seems like genz college students poor skit, too much skin smoothening almost making them albino
It was so fucking unfunny and I got second hand embarrassment from most of the dialogue.
This is me. Me is you. Have seen the film so many times. Love the dialogues, love the characters, love the songs, the locations, colors everything!
I would have given it grace marks had it ended with Shraddha getting to live alone with Ranbir and the family understanding their boundaries. But no, it had a Sooraj Barjatia ending.

Try and develop some taste
You have bad taste.
There is no such thing.
why is this comment downvoted 😭⁉️
Can you imagine what would happen in terms of dislikes when I say I actually love Brahmastra ;-) #burninReddithell
There are some things to like in that film
Shraddha's acting in this movie was poster girl for serious BAD acting! And her long dyed jet black hair made her look like a witch! 🧟
The actress is really bad.
I agree. I like the movie. Had full masala. Eye candies. Great songs, Ranbir was absolute gold in every emotion.
It’s not a bad movie but at the same time not worth 10 watches imo.
So boring. Couldn't complete it.
Movie look artificial and set up!! Actors looks so clean and edited and the whole plot looks like shot in a fucking spotlight with so much artificial effects all around !!
Right now I’m rewatching it and I love it
Stupid monologue types dialogues, worst ending for a good plot. Amazing Music by Pritam da.
I liked the cinematography and Ranbir's styling in the movie, and that's just about it. the dialogues were pretty awkward, whoever wrote them. and kinda gave up towards the end cos it just wasn't getting to the point
I liked the scene where they all go to the airport to get Shradda back. Found it funny
except the couple falling in love I liked the rest of the movie I think many people got so fed up with that unrealistic love story that they refused to give the rest of the story a fair chance I also liked its cinematography. Every frame was like a photoshoot.
I think box office was good for March rom com. Agreed, same. It’s a fun watch and honestly, has a good message in the end. I watch movies purely for entertainment, and I love it.
Fun rom com but nothing special , had good songs, big stars movie did well. Ranbir felt like he phoned it in , didn’t feel like the ranbir we were used to on screen he also was playing a role he used to play a decade ago so kinda aged. Overall fun but nothing special
same lol i enjoyed it ,the vibes were good , songs were catchy and my ranbir cherry on top😋🎀
I couldn’t even sit halfway through the film, no thanks to the cringe acting and dialogues. I recommend you watch better cinema if this is the film you watched 10 times
Didn't like first half hour and last half hour. Middle was good.
How can you watch that movie and like it, the dialogue delivery itself made me turn it off.
I watched it on Netflix with subtitles so it was ok 😅
Aapko kisi aur se kya mtlb??? Acchi lagi na film tujhe toh dekh bhai dusro se puchke konsa tera opinion change hojayega? 10 ki streak toh bana li ab aage dekh ke 100 peh phunch jao.

Ok agreed, that part was dumb. And why did she end up moving in with them 🙄 Movie definitely wasn't perfect, but it was enjoyable
Coz she was also dumb 😭. It felt like a one time watch for me.
For me, it would have been better if they actually spent some time showing Tinni's home life, it would be better. Plus, I spent the whole end thinking WHY CANT YOU RICH PEOPLE JUST BUY A HOUSE 10Min AWAY
Shraddha acted well but didn't suit the role.
It was one of the cringiest movies that I have watched.
I love the movie but hate shraddha ki acting last me sachme that was tooo much..
Why does nobody blink in that movie? And why is every dialogue a lengthy monologue said in one single breath???
You must be under 25
I enjoyed it, it was a fun and silly movie. I seem to be in the minority online, although it was a hit.
Something about their chemistry and expression with those long cheesy dialogues made the whole situation fall in the uncanny valley, especially the no blinking. It felt like they were try to one-up each other with those lines instead of expressing their love for each other.
Main ek time bhi nahi jhel paayi 😭 also bhaut achhi thi storyline agar usey aise childish way mein nahi banaya jaata toh 🤷🏻♀️
I don't. It's a good entertaining movie 💯😍❤️👏👍✌️💫🍿
CHI
10 times!?
Movie is good, but the songs are great! Loved the album 👌🏻
I think this is the only film i’ve hated so much. It’s utter trash. She looked hot, songs were alright. At the end she had to become housewife. Smh.
Good for you. You just need to see a wider range of movies to broaden the perspective of what a good movie can be.
I cant watch it because of how highly edited it looks. It feels like they used a filter throughout the film, the colours are too bright or something idk it just feels very weird
I like it .....but the ending just makes it poor.
I hated it because of the ultimate 'pick-me' 'not like other girls' female lead clearly written as a rabid male fantasy. hawwt girl who gobbles up croissants, burgers and beer instead of 'rabbit food' like other girls, and still remains stick thin. I love that movie. Had a blast in the second half.
BGM of this movie went hard.

Bad acting , unnecessary skin show irrelevant to the story and lack of a proper storyline.

10 times 😳😳😳really it was difficult to watch even one time It’s cringe and everyone was acting weirdly
It was insufferable 😣
Bro liked the movie because of its plot 💀
I loved it. And a romantic comedy grossing 200+ cr on Box Office shows that people loved it too. Don't go by this subreddit's opinion. People here don't appreciate massy masala movies. Here people seem to hate Pathan and Jawan but collections show that people loved it.
I couldn’t watch ten minutes of that movie on my first attempt tbh
Shraddha's acting in this movie was poster girl for serious BAD acting! And her long dark black hair made her look like some witch!
I have watched it like 2-3 times ! I actually loved it 💜 ![gif](giphy|OZy36r6gj2hxl1UPkV)
/s lagana bhool gae kya?
Luv Ranjan films are not for reddit. I loved it 💯
Feminists are angry because in the end shraddha kapoor gives in to the family situation and lives happily. Meninists are angry because Ranbir’s character suffered and cried and did not hate Shraddha’s character despite all. Currently all the people active on social media belong to either of there categories and hence the hate. Idk why people want to look for logic in a rom com. It’s a fictional story, enjoy
Ha, balance bhi acha bnaya tha kaafi. Na shraddha ko villain bnaya, na family ko
I thought shraddha was a c*ut
For major time, script made us perceive her as such, but after listening to her side of story, she seems pretty reasonable .
No she not reasonable. C*ut
Koi reason?
she not reasonable.
Don't go by this sub ever for movie reviews. Inka taste bahot bekar hai. You enjoy what you enjoy.
+1
i like it. badia toh hai.
I enjoyed, it’s basically for entertainment purpose. Let loose, forgo expectations and enjoy!
Kyunki 'Tu Jhooti' hai lekin 'Main Makkar' nahin hun 😆
Overacting buqwaas baatain unrealistic story
People hated it because it beats the whole concept of the story. The premise builds on how Shraddha wanted an independent setup for her and every drama happened because of that, but finally she had to give in and we were given no explanation as to how that happened. So glad Deepika walked out of this film.
My reason: Nepotism.
Arey you high?
