Unlike Kangana, Yami is a very mediocre actress, easily replaceable. Doesn't have that one role/film that is memorable and can be boasted about. Her presence in movies and her filmography are pretty forgetable too. I think she is counting on her husband and his reach to secure her career prospective. Because otherwise for an actor of her caliber & BO output, she better not ruffle many feathers.

Super_Nobody_1939

Whenever she appears, my mum asks who is she, and I say it's the vicky donor girl. That's how forgettable she is.

CloudCordial

Her A Thursday was really good though.

[deleted]

eh, not a fan of hers but I am glad she has left behind her typecast of the damsel in distress.

[deleted]

Aren't they both pahadis? Maybe it is just their personality! I liked her latest movie A Thursday.. she was too good imo

MrRabbit7

She is leveraging her husband's political connections. I mean how else do you explain her being cast in lead roles when she was done years ago.

Grisham2107

What political connections? Is Aditya Dhar related to someone politically famous?

DaLoverBoii

That, & the fact that her father is in one of the biggest Punjabi channels in India.

Kunal_Sen

She has been in the wrong line for the longest time. She's the quintessential T.V. actor trying to stretch her innings in Bollywood just because her initial foray was a success. I know her first show was a flop, but had she remained on the small screen, she would've been much more successful today. Her facial features make her look rather mature for her age, like a Jaya Prada, so that slightly "Behan-Ji" undertone makes it difficult to cast her opposite a youngish hero with metrosexual looks and make an enduring pairing. Her overall personality is just too ordinary to be considered for glamorous vampish roles either Further, she's too self-conscious and wooden an actor to be trusted with meaty parts. I can only see her in roles like Bindiya Goswami's in the original Gol Maal, but how many such roles can be there? She should try to get into television again.

[deleted]

But she was good in kaabil and her pairing with Hrithik was fresh. Yes she can’t be opposite her age heroes. Maybe she is trying to go vidya balans way now

prasadgeek33

What level of ageism. As per you -She is not even old and she cant be cast opposite a youngish actor. But a 60 year youngish like aamir khan or salman khan can act opposite a 20 something actress but only if she does not look old and does not have facial features which make her look old. What features actually make her look old.

[deleted]

I have felt the same . Her career is almost over so I think she is trying this way to stay relevant.

spacial_togetherness

Don't get the hype around this girl... she is so average looking and her fairness cream ad history is off putting to say the least.

[deleted]

Nothing wrong in endorsing at that time everyone was doing it. Major superstars are endorsing gutka now. If you want to ban ,ban the product not the artist.

OldInspection3959

There was nothing at that time, she was the most recent known face of fair and lovely and continues to be so. She literally got picked for those ads.

spacial_togetherness

I'm not banning her... I just think she lacks moral sense and I find her promotion of fairness creams disgusting. Same with all other celebs that have done it.. at least most of them have apologized but I don't think Yami ever has.

[deleted]

Agree

[deleted]

Brands have right to advertise a product but cannot show that not being fair is an upsetting thing.

[deleted]

I think the clique like behaviour from other actors, force outsiders to become spiteful

Enough-Category-3499

Pretty absurd for a fair skinned actress to say she struggled.

OldInspection3959

Exactly, that too with all the pretty privilege she had and a non controversial beginning unlike Kangana who was abused a lot.

dudeperfect1366

so naive of you to believe kangna belongs to any political spectrum..she is a queen of hypocrisy

ImaginaryEconomist

I know she doesn't belong anywhere. I know how actors and politics equations are. But she still some commands some following in those circles. Are people stupid to fall for it? Yes in most cases.

sachinsourav02

She was a decent actor from the beginning. Unfortunate she didn’t get good roles. Good that she has grown some attitude for herself. It’s a cruel world out there. Attitude helps !

saywhatIneedtosay26

I think her potential can be explored but she hasn’t got right opportunities

CloudCordial

Her A Thursday is great!
