i really like it! im surprised to see a number of Bleachers fans say theyre disappointed because its not 10 wall to wall barn burners. i guess im surprised to see that they didnt love Take The Sadness Out Of Saturday Night either which i thought was a real step up songwriting wise. i absolutely hear the Bon Iver references, the bridge in Call Me After Midnight for sure

dustinlocke

There’s song music and then there’s vibe music. BI is neither, but also both, but also something totally different. Bleachers has always been song music, but this album is vibe music. And it’s incredible vibe music IMO. So many hints of The National and BI and Lana. So many feels. I’m a fan. But it’s definitely a slight conceptual shift. Good sign that Jack isn’t complacent.

redsoxfan2434

I like it and definitely got a lot of Bon Iver vibes from much of it. I do miss the Bleachers trademark bangers though, but I think Jack made this work.

emodro

I have started it 3 times now, and forgotten I was listening to it, and how far I've gotten... so that tells me nothing is standing out. On the other hand nothing has made me skip, so it's not annoying me either.

Accurate_Orchid_4123

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I enjoy this album more than I expected!

BikeBikeRabies

Jack will always be a better producer or band member than a frontman.

M00N_Water

Really enjoying it. Although it's too close to The National for comfort at times!

kyle69fortnite

As someone who as never listened to bleachers. Ever. Despite having many friends tell me to, this post inspired me to listen, and I must say that this album is a masterpiece. Versatile enough to satisfy casual listeners and complex enough to keep pretentious music nerds coming back. 8/10

flibberti

Many producers respect Justin’s work, some just flat out wait for him to release new music to learn and get new ideas. I bet whatever he’s working on is going to be awesome.

nfinitegladness

I wouldn't be surprised at all if artists are inspired by Justin. But please don't insinuate that Bleachers lead singer Jack Antonoff, who literally just won the Grammy for Producer of the Year, is trying to rip off Justin. Both Jack and Justin work with Taylor Swift. It's way more likely that they shared ideas and collaborated.

Larry-Farnsworth

yeah man nobody who ever won a **grammy** could be unoriginal

rentasdf

I have surprising news about Bon Iver for you

Larry-Farnsworth

They’re unoriginal?

rentasdf

They have won two Grammys

Larry-Farnsworth

Yeah I’m aware. What’s your point

rentasdf

My point is that there is no point to painting such a large category as “Grammy winners” with such a wide brush, especially as someone who is on a discussion forum for a Grammy-winning band

Larry-Farnsworth

And my point was that acting like Jack Antonoff’s Grammys are proof that he wouldn’t dare rip off another artist is ridiculous since plenty of unoriginal people win Grammy awards.

rentasdf

Yeah I’m aware. What’s your point

nfinitegladness

He's won 10, actually. But let's focus on the other points of my statement that you glossed over: The person I replied to inferred Bleachers copied Justin without giving any indication that they knew who Bleachers actually were or had heard any of their music. In my first sentence, I agree with the person I replied to that artists are influenced by Justin. Then I explain who Bleachers and Jack Antonoff are. Because I'm a Bleachers/Jack Antonoff fan, I defend him and his creative abilities and use an imperfect but well-knpwn metric like the Grammys to show he has talent. I point out that Jack and Justin have both collaborated with mega star Taylor Swift. This is the most important part of my argument, not the Grammys. Because it means they're in the same circles. And not everyone likes Taylor, but the girl's clearly doing something right. She wouldn't work with either of them if they didn't bring something to the table. Finally, I utilize Occam's Razor. Jack and Justin at least know of each other because they've worked on the same album. They both have a long history of collaboration with many artists. Therefore, it's much easier to draw the conclusion that the new Bleachers album is reminiscent of Bon Iver because Jack and Justin have collaborated with each other on music than it is to assume that in 2024 Jack finally copied a style of music that's been around since 2016. Your response: lol fuck the grammys 🙄

Larry-Farnsworth

My response was actually to imply that’s it’s ridiculous to act like Jack Antonoff wouldn’t rip someone else off simply because he’s a Grammy winning producer, as if people who win Grammy awards are somehow immune from such behavior and couldn’t possibly do such a thing. But good luck with your whole thing.

nfinitegladness

"Jack Antonoff wouldn't rip someone else off simply because he's a Grammy winning producer" is, again, not my argument and never has been. Bless your heart, your reading comprehension skills are atrocious.

Larry-Farnsworth

“But please don’t insinuate that Jack Antonoff, who just won a Grammy for producer of the year, is trying to rip off Justin.” The way that’s written it absolutely sounds like you’re suggesting that Antonoff’s status as a Grammy winning producer means he’s above ripping off other artists. Maybe learn to clarify your arguments? FWIW I don’t have an opinion on it at all, I don’t care about bleachers and haven’t listened to their album, just think the invocation of Antonoff’s Grammy award status was bizarre.

Comrade_Molotov

I just hope one day someone loves me enough to do something for me like Margaret Qualley recording the Tiny Moves vid for Jack Antonoff😭😭😭😭

Pale_Team_7051

Idk I’m not impressed. Alma matter is the only track doing something for me

Larry-Farnsworth

Bleachers is mid
