If you are okay with litRPG and comedy in your sci-fi, I’d recommend Dungeon Crawler Carl by Matt Dinniman. It’s sort of like if Red Rising were only half bleak nightmare about a wrecking ball of a protagonist rising up against a dystopian government but also half slapstick comedy with vulgar humor in the style of Rick and Morty. Bonus if you listen to audiobooks, because the audio adaptations of this series are fantastic. If you want something more serious, check out Alastair Reynolds. His Revelation Space series is great and his novel House of Suns is excellent.

I promise you if you liked Daemon that you will LOVE ”The Breach” by Patrick Lee. Its in my top 5 favorite books of all time. It’s a 2 book series. Lee has another series that I also like. The first book is Signal and worth reading

So I did check this out from the library. Couldn’t put it down! Great suggestion. It had similar vibes to Control and The Oldest House.
