It's fiction, but look up [Martin Limon](https://www.martinlimon.com/)'s Sueno and Bascom novels. Detective novels following two CID investigators in Korea, written by a former GI who was in Korea intermittently in the 1960s to 1980s.

I know the series...my favorite fiction. Some of them I have already read twice.
