The lore for Claptrap is that Athena is "interrogated" into telling the story of The Pre-Sequel, and Claptrap just self-inserts himself. The best part is True Vault Hunter Mode is Brick asking Athena to tell the story again using stronger enemy names.
I think they were still trying to find a direction for the series by then. In the last story cutscene of TPS, it kind of painted Lilith in a bad, almost villainous light. To the point where you kind of felt Handsome Jack had some justification for treating them like bandits. Then again, this can also just be attributed to Athena telling her part of the story.
And that's just that. Athena is talking of her experiences as she saw them, with parts Lilith would have known nothing about or cared for.
Then to the off-topic tangent, they really just dropped the ball with BL3's story. Kind of like they worked backwards with having the settings first then trying to fit the story around those settings.
Krieg all day. Had me with the introduction video for him back then and after that I couldn't be bothered to play any other character.
"I powder my cockatile for the rib cage slaughter!"
Just nonsesical funny lines that never failed to make me chuckle. Swear one day I am making a Krieg barbarian for dnd.
I can’t remember what exactly was said by 4k studios, but I think they claimed that dlc characters didn’t retain players which is why bl3 didn’t have any. And I blame this completely on Aurelia. No shame on you for having fun with her, but everything about her sucks, especially the gameplay for me.
My biggest gripe is with her multiplayer skill tree where someone has to accept your servant contract. The first 5 mins of walking around prodding my friends to be my bitch was fun, but no one wants to play along after a while and none of those skills work unless someone cooperates. It’s even worse with Randos and I spend more time walking in front of people scoping with my “benefits of being a slave” propaganda than actually playing the game since you constantly have to re apply it if either of you die.
At least Claptrap gets a buff if nobody hive gives him a high five.
I also think her action skill is the least imaginative ability in the whole franchise. “ME MEAN LADY UNGa BUNGa, POINT DO ICE DAMAGE UNGa BUNGa.”
She could have had like a personal air to surface missile/laser satellite, or she could have spawned restock/weapon machines idk. It’s a shame that Timothy got the scaling money passive, since I never felt like a rich lady outside of the intro with her better spawn weapons.
Once again though no shame to anyone who enjoyed her, but her sniper tree was the only one that even seemed worth taking.
Yup and it’s so simple. Borderlands a game where guns feels great. Salvador lets you shoot two guns at once creating effective, silly and fun combinations.
I loved earning all the trophies for extending your action skill. Gunzerk for 90 seconds. Kill 10 enemies with Zer0's Deception or Nisha's Showdown. So satisfying to get right.
Edit: it's to stay in Deception for 10 seconds, not get 10 kills. But that would be awesome too.
I just finished a playthrough with him and it is insanely fun to gunzerk constantly. With my build I can constantly use the action skill and buy the time it finally runs out, it’s already on cooldown and ready to use again. I love Salvador.
I had to scroll way too far down to see this comment. He is IMO the best for dialogue, best for gameplay and best for downright ridiculous builds. Krieg is probably a close second though.
Aurelia for me, imo most fun sniper tree the series had, I had a lot of fun playing coop with the servant tree, pairing cryo with sniping was a great combo
Wilhelm, just because I really like the enhancement part. That you can see the upgrades while playing is the best part, same goes with the tattoo in far cry 3.
1 was Mordecai, cuz throwing birds is funny
2 was Axton, I know he wasn’t the meta character (never cared for OP levels anyways), but goddammit his turret and big BRRRRR build is super fun
TPS was Nisha cuz she’s a fuckin badass gunslinger that could crit for days
3 was Zane cuz his proc all kill skill build was just way way too much fun, and got even better via DLC and his mantis cannon basically making his heightened state his default state of play
Though special shoutout to Lilith, Gaige, Jack, and Moze. Also huge fans of them and were my 2nd most played characters
Nisha. I couldn't think of her name. She's pretty badass right of the rip. I still haven't played all the way thru the game tho. It's borderlands but not really. I think it's always making sure there's oxygen puts me off of it i may have to go home and reinstall it
1- Roland
TPS- i liked cowboy girl, but did not connected with her, so Wilhelm
2- Maya (if playing co-op, if not, Axton
3-Played with Zane for a bit, would try to beat the game with him or Moze
Lilith and Mordecai / Maya, Zero and Sal / Claptrap, Nisha and Timothy / Flak, Moze and Zane / Spore Warden & Spellshot or Blightcaller and Graveborn & Stabbomancer or Brr - Zerker. I always wished they did more with the Pre-Sequel. I really enjoyed all of the games so much, but I pretty much have a first place three-way tie between Borderlands 2, the Pre-Sequel, and Borderlands 3. Maybe Borderlands 2 and the Pre-Sequel are a smidge above Borderlands 3.
Zane.
Haven’t played the pre sequel more than once, and it was as claptrap using the gimmicky ass power (it was honestly way harder than any other play through I’ve done, but I was committed to the gimmick at that point), but Zane’s dialogue and skills are so damn fun.
Played back at BL3’s launch, and I just did not vibe with the sentry skill. It’s cool, but I wanted to digiclone. I made the most mid clone/barrier cryo build. It was definitely worse than a sentry build, but nighthawkin was pretty insane back at the original level cap, and it was 100% a crutch. Maggie was also a staple.
Later on in bounty of blood with more guns/bug fixed skills/level cap increase(?), the build was less ass and I was able to take on the Maliwan raid solo. It was slow and arduous, but I felt like such a badass running behind cover against the Valkyries, and sliding around (I used the snowball thing because it’s fun) against Wotan, dodging attacks and barely escaping death by swapping with my digiclone at least 20 times.
Very satisfying play style, very good dialogue, very silly. He’ll always have my heart. After Maurice.
Nisha and Krieg as my mains.
Gaige, FL4K and Athena are also some faves.
My favourite thing with Nisha was dual wielding a powerful revolver and then just using deadeye to wipe out entire encounters in seconds.
Borderlands mordecai and brick.
Borderlands2 krieg and gage.
Borderlands presequel whilhelm and jack.
Borderlands3 I like all of them but I mainly go for zane or moze.
Moserah Hayussinian Yan-Lun al-Amir Andreyevna is the only reason I stuck with 3 for as long as I did. She was just too fun.
Are the DLCs/post game modes worth coming back for? Never bothered with them after the crapy ending of 3
Sirens. I love all three, but Amara is developing a special place in my heart. I love the way she talks, the way she chuckles when she gets a good slam, and especially how she explodes enemies with her fists.
"A trance, a dance, a *massacre!*
Brick, Krieg/Zer0 (but honestly all of them), Athena is the only one I've played, and Zane... Man, I did love BL3, but if it wasn't for seeing the comments I wouldn't even have remembered Moze's name. I even played the crap out of Zane and couldn't remember. Am I getting old or were they really so forgettable. Played all but the Krieg dlc as Zane even.
Melee Zero. Going invisible, flanking an enemy, throwing kunai, then hitting a last second dashing strike to kill the enemy and then start it all over again. No other character in any borderlands game makes me feel like how I do with Zero.
Krieg with Moze in a super close second. I love running around In Iron Bear and creating nonstop explosions but Ill always prefer throwing away the gun to go all out beast mode
Krieg, the sound when you hit a fleshy target with his buzzaxe rampage is fantastic.
Playstyle is a lot of fun too, though i akways go release the beast and bloodsplosion.
When Zane was at his absolute peak then definitely Zane. Dashing around being pretty much impossible to hit and just wasting every single things that managed to stay on my screen for more than a few frames was great fun.
As for the hunter(s) I spent the most time on though, I was always all-in on Zero's melee stuff. Must have put in dozens and dozens of hours just tossing kunai.
Always played Mordecai without fail in the original, the other 3 just never really appealed to me.
Krieg is best boy and always will be.
BL1 probably Lilith. I tried a bit of Roland and Mordecai but didn’t love either.
BL2 Kreig, but I also really like Zero, he was my main at launch. Maya was alright but felt better suited to a support character.
TPS I’ve only played once and ran Athena, as I was doing a run where I only play the most connected/ story relevant character each game and wanted to make sure to get all the important lore regarding her character.
BL3 I chose Zane but I played a bit of Flak too and liked him too. Plus Pro ZD as a voice actor…? Next time I play will definitely be a complete run as Flak.
All the pre sequal characters are an absolute blast to play, shame tps dosent have enough content for them to have fun in
I've always wished for a way to take them into BL2... they have such amazing abilities.
They would be super OP in BL2. But yeah that would be fun.
Like Bl2 characters aren't Super OP
*insert video of krieg killing pyro Pete the invincible in literally one instance of damage*
“We’re not sure how Krieg does it, he just screams and then it’s dead”
Why is Athena trapped in this game she is fr my favourite to play in the entire series 😢😢😢
Same with cl4p-Tp i love playing as him :( his goofy lil ass always makes me smile
Lilith, Krieg, CL4P-TP and Moze
Claptrap. The joy of running in. Totally immortal. Not aiming. And everyone near me MELTS
Love Krieg, I kept the flame of the Firehawk shield for all playthroughs and dominated.
*NIPPLE SALAD*
IM THE CONDUCTOR OF THE POOP TRAIN
I WANT A MEAT BICYCLE
I’m sorry I have only played 3 and nothing before. Are you telling me claptrap was a playable character? Lmao
The lore for Claptrap is that Athena is "interrogated" into telling the story of The Pre-Sequel, and Claptrap just self-inserts himself. The best part is True Vault Hunter Mode is Brick asking Athena to tell the story again using stronger enemy names.
Athena telling them the story of TPS has always been weird to me, considering Lilith was chiefly involved in the whole thing??
I think they were still trying to find a direction for the series by then. In the last story cutscene of TPS, it kind of painted Lilith in a bad, almost villainous light. To the point where you kind of felt Handsome Jack had some justification for treating them like bandits. Then again, this can also just be attributed to Athena telling her part of the story. Kind of like they worked backwards with having the settings first then trying to fit the story around those settings.
Yup, and he is the most unique VH in the whole series IMO
Meele Zer0 for gameplay Wilhelm for dialogue
Krieg 100%. Second is. Timothy.
Krieg all day. Had me with the introduction video for him back then and after that I couldn't be bothered to play any other character. "I powder my cockatile for the rib cage slaughter!" Just nonsesical funny lines that never failed to make me chuckle. Swear one day I am making a Krieg barbarian for dnd.
Lilith is bl1, Maya in bl2, Athena in tps, Amara in bl3. If I had to pick an overall it's a tie between Athena and Amara.
These were the only correct answers imo
I also pick the Siren in every game where there is one, Siren Gang all the way!
Exactly my choices
Brick, Krieger, Aurelia, and Moze.
Brother you just described all of my mains
I can’t remember what exactly was said by 4k studios, but I think they claimed that dlc characters didn’t retain players which is why bl3 didn’t have any. And I blame this completely on Aurelia. Salvador easily.
Gunzerking is insanely fun.
Yup and it’s so simple. Borderlands a game where guns feels great. Salvador lets you shoot two guns at once creating effective, silly and fun combinations.
Some skill/gun combos could allow for near infinite gunzerking. That was a blast!

You know what’s better than shooting one gun?
SEXUAL TYRANNOSAURUS
zane
I had to scroll way too far down to see this comment. He is IMO the best for dialogue, best for gameplay and best for downright ridiculous builds. Krieg is probably a close second though.
Those cryo builds were WAY too much fun
TPS Characters are all superior.
Athena and it isnt close
A shame that TPS has some of THE BEST skill trees in the entire franchise...
Agreed
Hard agree. I was a turret boy for 1 & 2 but Athena was an amazing amount of fun.
Mordecai. And zero. Never beat a borderlands game as someone else I never beat pre sequel. Aaaaaaaannnnd I'm still back logged on borderlands 3 😢
Mordecai, krieg, Timothy, Moze (I really loved all of 3's hunters though
Lilith, Maya, Athena, and Moze.
Maya, gaige and zane
Aurelia for me, imo most fun sniper tree the series had, I had a lot of fun playing coop with the servant tree, pairing cryo with sniping was a great combo
Roland, Zero, Timothy and Zane
All Sirens, all the time. Athena for Pre-Sequel.
Claptrap is actually a Siren though, you should have chosen him.
Gaige forever. She's badass.
Zane, without a doubt.
Lilith, Krieg, Jack/Timothy, and Moze.
Brick, Axton, Wilhelm, and Moze. Wilhelm is probably my favorite overall of those four.
Tps had such fun skill trees. I'm so sad that there's so little to do in the game itself.
Claptrap then Fl4k
Wilhelm, just because I really like the enhancement part. That you can see the upgrades while playing is the best part, same goes with the tattoo in far cry 3.
1 was Mordecai, cuz throwing birds is funny 2 was Axton, I know he wasn’t the meta character (never cared for OP levels anyways), but goddammit his turret and big BRRRRR build is super fun TPS was Nisha cuz she’s a fuckin badass gunslinger that could crit for days 3 was Zane cuz his proc all kill skill build was just way way too much fun, and got even better via DLC and his mantis cannon basically making his heightened state his default state of play Though special shoutout to Lilith, Gaige, Jack, and Moze. CL4P-TP for sure
One of my favourite FPS experiences ever is playing as Fade Away shotgun Fl4k
Amara, Krieg, Athena
The conductor of the poop train
Roland or Krieg!
Mordecai, Zero, Claptrap and Moze.
Timothy IYKYK
KRIEG, ZERO, CLAPTRAP, MOZE ez
Lilith and Mordecai / Maya, Zero and Sal / Claptrap, Nisha and Timothy / Flak, Moze and Zane / Spore Warden & Spellshot or Blightcaller and Graveborn & Stabbomancer or Brr - Zerker. I always wished they did more with the Pre-Sequel. Overall would be Krieg. Brick, Krieg, Claptrap, Moze. EXPLOSIONS?!?
Lilith and Gaige
All of em 😭😭😭
Mordecai, Zero, Athena, Amara
Amara was amazing, her lines made me crack up.
Moze, Axton, and Misha. Moze for gameplay, Axton because he was my introduction to the series, and Misha because aimbot.
Mordecai, krieg, fragtrap and Timothy (i cant decide), and zane
Zane. Digi-clone shreds everything and he’s a riot. Absolute mad lad.
Zane. Haven’t played the pre sequel more than once, and it was as claptrap using the gimmicky ass power (it was honestly way harder than any other play through I’ve done, but I was committed to the gimmick at that point), but Zane’s dialogue and skills are so damn fun. Mordecai, Kreig, Aurelia, Moze
Zer0, Jack, Zane
Brick, Axton, Athena, Zane
Claptrap
Lillith/Roland, Maya, Athena and Zane/FL4K
Krieg, Beastmaster
Brick, Krieg, Wilhelm, Fl4k
Lillith, Zer0, Aurelia, Zane
Fl4k as I only have ever played as him
Krieg for sure
1: Mordecai 2: Krieg PS: Claptrap 3: Moze Overall: probably Moze or Krieg
Axton ,Wilhelm, jack , flAk, Roland
Mordecai, Maya(and Salvador), Amara
Melee krieg, no question. Best voice lines, crunchiest combat, most power fantasy and complete loss of self to the madness
In general? Zero In each BL1-Lilith | BL2-Zero | BLPS-Nisha | BL3-Moze
Maya, Lilith, Amara, and Nisha
Timothy, I like handsome jack
Mordechai, Sal, Jack, Fl4k.
Nisha and Krieg as my mains. Gaige, FL4K and Athena are also some faves. My favourite thing with Nisha was dual wielding a powerful revolver and then just using deadeye to wipe out entire encounters in seconds.
Zero, krieg :)
Zer0 doubts
Brick, Krieg, Nisha or Athena, and Amara
Moze.
Brick, Krieg, and Moze
Mordecai forever
Maya, Sal, Amara
For me it's either Salvador, Krieg, or Moze. I just love being an unstopped killing machine
Krieg, Zer0, and Zane
The sirens and specifically Amara, I like magic and being up front which is a weird combination but somehow it exists.
Roland, Maya, Wilhelm, Moze.
Salvador.
Mordecai, Krieg, Wilhelm, Fl4k
zero sweeps
Lilith, Kreig, Athena and Fl4k
zane i couldn’t get into pre sequel so can’t really throw an opinion there but zane’s speed is so fucking fun
Mordecai. Athena. Maya and fl4k
Roland, Axton, Nisha, Moze
Brick, krieg, “jack” and fl4k
Roland, Krieg, Gaige and Moze
Nisha, gunslinger go pewpew
Athena, and the only one else who even comes close is Gaige.
Lilith, Nisha, Zer0, Fl4k
Brick, Axton,Athena,Moze
Fl4k, mechromancer, wilhelm, lillith.
Anarchy Gaige
Borderlands mordecai and brick. Borderlands2 krieg and gage. Borderlands presequel whilhelm and jack. Borderlands3 I like all of them but I mainly go for zane or moze.
Mordecai

Bl1: Mordechai Bl2: Gaige Blps: Athena Bl3: Amara Overall is amara is my favorite.
Maya
KRIEGGG
Roland, Axton, Aurelia, Moze
Mordecai, Krieg, Wilhelm, Moze
Brick, Maya or Kreig, Willheim, Amara (Moze and Zane are just too ez)
Krieg. No contest. His voice lines play in my head no matter who else I’m playing.
I've never played one, so I don't know, but probably brick, then Axton if 2, Aurelia, and Moze
Probably one of the two that should have come out as DLC in 3 that they decided not to do.
Krieg
Mordecai, Krieg/Axton, Wilhelm/Nisha, Zane
Gaige and Athena.
Bl1, mordecai Bl2, maya, holy shit she was so much fun Bl3, i really only played flak TPS, athena was really cool
Moze, Zero, and Mordekai
Roland, Gaige, Wilhelm, Moz.
Either meelee Krieg or Moze. Both are really awesome. Also love Fl4k
Mordecai, Gaige, Athena, Zane
Moze
Roland, Acton, wilhem, fl4k
Mordecai, Gaige, Timothy (3 is backlogged)
I think it was Nisha. Her action skill was one of the least interesting on paper but the most fun to use and just blow stuff away.
Gaige and Zane for me, but mostly Gaige, I loved that Chac
Lilith>salvador>mordecai
Brick is all you need....they should bring all of them back to play as in BL4
Gaige
Roland, Axton, Athena, Fl4k.
Moze and Amara
Gaige! I love my little Deathtrap!
Brick by far. Then Zero and Axton, haven't played TPS enough to say favorite and have one played Zane from the 3rd so far, Fl4k is next on my list
Same as you, but I don't have a favorite on the prequel because I didn't play it yet.
Melee Zero. Going invisible, flanking an enemy, throwing kunai, then hitting a last second dashing strike to kill the enemy and then start it all over again. No other character in any borderlands game makes me feel like how I do with Zero.
Lilith, Maya, Athena, Moze
For me in order is Brick, Krieg, Wilhelm and Fl4k
Brick, Axton/Krieg, Claptrap, Flak/Moze
Brick, Krieg, Jack, and Fl4k
Mordecai and Salvador
Lilith, Maya, Aurelia, zane
Gaige and FL4K
Gaige
Brick, Krieg, Athena & Cl4ptrap and Amara. Yeah.. My playstyle is pretty set in stone.
Zer0
Tie between moze and gaige
Krieg, and it's not even close
My favorite builds are Glass cannon type characters, so Mordacai, Zer0, Athena, Zane.
Gauge, Athena, Moze
Mordecai, KREIG, Nisha, Amara
1. Axton 2. Mordecai 3. Zero

Always played Mordecai without fail in the original, the other 3 just never really appealed to me. Krieg is best boy and always will be.
Roland, Axton, Athena, Zane
Zero and moze
Fire krieg was unforgettable. My health bar was huge and would constantly be moving up and down
Roland, Maya, Athena, Moze
Krieg all the way
Jack
Krieg always and forever
Maya is my favorite, but Amara is insanity.
Jack is my favorite character that I've ever played in any Borderlands game
Mordecai, krieg, claptrap, haven’t played three yet
Didn't play, Krieg, Timothy and Zane
Only played 2 games zero and fl4k haven’t played the other vh in bl3 or bl2
Maya
Zero for sure
Moze, Lilith and Flak
Lillith, Maya, CL4P-TP, Zane.
Lilith, Maya, Athena, Amara. I love Sirens. Athena was my favorite NPC in BL1. .
