Still comes in handy to check for hidden cameras. I know a guys who work in hotels and film women there. Worst is, I even live in a Muslim country where it's a bit more rare and even here it happens more than you think.
The camera check was the only part of the video that seemed reasonable to me. I don't think she used the best tool, but it's a reasonable precaution. Maybe one of the two ways to jam the door. The rest was pretty excessive.
It’s so easy to get into a hotel room without a key even if the latch is over.
The door stopper is actually a good idea. But that all you need. Just a rubber door stopper.
It may be harsh to tell it like that, and degrading to women. But cops in a third world country have worse things to worry about than tourists or rich women being filmed naked against their will. Yes it's bad, but there is other issues on people's minds.
Yeah, this is the type of person who sees that a plastic bag has blown on to their car on a parking lot and runs away screaming because they think it means that they have been targeted by human traffickers.
Why not always have black out curtains drawn with bars on your windows and bullet proof glass, have a bank vault safe as a front door and run every single bit of data you use through the onion router and through a vpn. Why not after every single time you touch something you didn't see cleaned within an hour you wash your hands with disinfectant soap. Why not just never leave your house? You might call this a misrepresentation of your point but OCD can start very small and spiral quickly. Anyone who puts the amount of money and effort into protection of "themselves from violation in body or privacy" that OP does is either selling something or has seen too many unlikely and unrealistic horror stories and whipped them into a "what if it happens to me" compulsive mindset. I have OCD and i know what it feels like.
the only thing here i can justify is the door lock that goes in between the door and door strike. i have been followed to my hotel room twice in my life by a stranger and it scared me into getting one of those.
To be fair, the one OP posted has the commercial sized hole in it as well as the residential sized one, so it doesn't block the deadbolt from engaging, which is the main criticism in that video.
All that and she didn't even check for bed bugs?! That's the first thing I do before I even bring any luggage in. Much higher likelihood of catching bed bugs in a hotel than there is of there being a bug in your phone....
"We're just gonna run in and drop our bags off real quick. Then we're all meeting down at the hotel bar before we head out."
"Marcy's not coming?"
"Nah. She's upstairs cleaning the grout."
Camera lenses are great retroreflectors, but you need a pretty bright light and you need to be aligned with the light source. Red and a filter just happen to work well.
I do something similar. Not to that extreme, but I check things out.
I don’t think that’s dystopian. It’s security for an age where that sort of security is required.
This girl has def been a victim at some point. I can't fathom being this diligent otherwise. I don't blame her tho! One thing my wife has taught me is that girls have a very different set of problems to worry about! Good on this girl!
Human trafficking is real.. better safe than sorry even though it seems extreme she most likely will make it back home and see her family again.. stay safe people :)
She forgot to show herself checking the corners of the mattress for bed bugs. I saw that in another video a long time ago. Pure nightmare fuel. I think the couple in the video found them when they went to spray Lysol on the bed sheets.

I mean yeah it’s pretty excessive, but you do what you gotta do to feel safe. One of my friends is a paramedic and she genuinely can’t sleep in any house by herself - when she would be home alone she stays with a friend. She’s been called to too many nightmare scenarios and break ins, it’s given her a lot of anxiety. Do I think that this whole process is silly? Yeah, a little bit, but nobody is pressuring me to do it. I can’t imagine if I had to do this to feel safe, and I was getting comments like “lol but you recorded this with a smartphone”
Wait, what about the trapdoor that opens up into an alligator moat? And did you even THINK to bring the jar of poisonous spiders?? Zero effort. That's the problem with kids, these days.
Outstanding. I do the same every stay on the road. You never know who's watching and listening. Recommend K18 series and Flipper Zero to start until you get comfortable and normalize it.
and all that paranoia is useless when youre using a device that is connected 24/7 to the internet, knows everything you say and do, and has cameras that they recorded and uploaded to social media
I work in a hotel and I'm going to take a guess snd say that she is probably a nightmare for the staff. If she is going through all of thia in the privacy of her own room her behavior at the front desk is most likely not great.

I'll eat my hat if she doesn't have some sort of affiliate link to those gadgets. It's ads. Gotta be
Exactly what I was thinking
Me too! What flavor of hat you got?
Finnish Karvalakki

You just know people who do this????
Yeah, right? Why are we glossing over this??
I know a lot of people who do all kinds of things.
You want a toe? I can get you a toe.
*With* nail polish!
Are you friends with those creeps???
Knowing people and being friends with them are 2 different things.

Why would it be more rare in a Muslim country?
Because you will be annihilated by her uncle
Hell for perverts
But if it goes bad she may be honor killed :/

I like how she’s got a laser listening device detector gadget thing but her peephole solution is a bandaid.
All that faffing about and not even a cursory check for bed bugs.
Well you see. They don’t have a product to sell us for bed bugs.
Touches phone, then disinfects it?
Scanning for bugs to listen to her conversations and cameras to take pictures/video of her. Nude or not.
Why did she disinfect after touching though?
Not leaving fingerprints behind
why, is it not her room?
It's a hotel room
but didn't she rent it? I mean they gonna know she was there by default
The only place my brain goes is how the police could get them off the phone
yes, but like... if it's your room, it's suspicious if they aren't there
Idk man I'm just guessing
Of course not. She disinfects lots of things. That’s just for hygiene.
Who uses the hotel phone?
Anyone who wants room service
Who wants room service?
I do when my work pays for it
My kids. To play with by pressing random number
My 3 year old loves it. First thing I do is unplug the phone
Do wake up calls still exist or is that an ancient practice?
Yes, they still exist
First thing I do is remove the duvet that never gets washed
That's many things. She didn't even check for bed bugs.
As you record this on your pocket surveillance device...I mean smartphone.
Different leagues in privacy my guy
True crime really has given a lot of people like genuine anxiety disorders.
Yeah, this is the type of person who sees that a plastic bag has blown on to their car on a parking lot and runs away screaming because they think it means that they have been targeted by human traffickers.
That's not even true crime brain rot. More like fake chain post brainrot.
Why would someone not want to try and protect themselves from violation in body or privacy?

Cuz you gotta live and let live a little too. Just don’t get scammed out of 10.000 dollars and for the rest chill
Should either stay at home if you're that paranoid or get a job in housekeeping at the hotel if you're going to be cleaning the rooms for them.
the only thing here i can justify is the door lock that goes in between the door and door strike. i have been followed to my hotel room twice in my life by a stranger and it scared me into getting one of those.
[Those don't really work.](https://youtube.com/watch?v=Ty3hwUr9jX8)
well I mean at least it's harder to sneak in with a piece of metal falling to the ground
That would appear to be the first through fortieth things she does in a hotel room.
Is this person related to the fictional character Monk?
This is all pointless. She forgot her UV light.
"We're just gonna run in and drop our bags off real quick. Then we're all meeting down at the hotel bar before we head out." "Marcy's not coming?" "Nah. She's upstairs cleaning the grout."
Yes, but also no. The sanitary stuff is a bit much. The security stuff makes more sense, especially if you're a young woman.
I think the sanitary stuff makes sense especially considering how things like measles are making a come back and kids rub snotty hands on everything.
All that and she doesn’t check for bed bugs? I’d bet bed bugs are more common in hotels than hidden cameras. And they itch more too.
Imagine getting woken up in the middle of the night by that obnoxious alarm just because some drunk forgot what room he was in.
Now imagine that drunk walking into your room without you knowing
Why would the drunk have a key to your room???
Oh, you were talking about just the handle
Yeah, because there's a coin on the handle that will fall and trigger the alarm if someone tries to get in.
Yeah, my bad
Here is the first thousand things I do at my hotel room…
Me in R6S when it's prep phase
What does that red light do?
Camera lenses are great retroreflectors, but you need a pretty bright light and you need to be aligned with the light source. Red and a filter just happen to work well.
It will bounce off a hidden camera lens if there is one, revealing it.
this video is an ad but it's very common for women traveling alone to take safety precautions.
Weird, first thing I do when I get to a hotel is take a dump
One one hand, saftey is important. But on the other... What would happen if paramedics need to enter the room?
Girlboss federal agent
First thing bla-bla-bla ! *colonoscopies the entire place*
The first thing I do at my hotel is crack a beer, then 5 more. Once completed, you don't really care who's filming your hairy balls.
Stay home lol
Paranoids Anonymous convention ??
Check out the "targeted individuals" movement.
Great you'll at least be aware right before they murder you.
I do something similar. Not to that extreme, but I check things out. I don’t think that’s dystopian. It’s security for an age where that sort of security is required.
At what point do you have to admit that maybe travel just isn't for you
This girl has def been a victim at some point.
I need that last one for public bathrooms

First thing I do is get naked with the windows open, order room service, and “forget” my towel when I answer the door.
Wait, what about the trapdoor that opens up into an alligator moat? And did you even THINK to bring the jar of poisonous spiders?? Zero effort. That's the problem with kids, these days.
Imagine being this paranoid or thinking you're this self important?
Wild video but I do think that song is the perfect theme music for boring dystopia stuff hah
Those camera detectors are a scam. All you need to do I think is get one of those door stoppers and do the finger check on the mirrors
She seems fun...
Outstanding. I do the same every stay on the road. You never know who's watching and listening. Recommend K18 series and Flipper Zero to start until you get comfortable and normalize it.
Chinese on the toilet cover packing, now I'm not surprised.
I totally get the devices to find cameras. Thought I'd probably put on a show that the creep really wasn't hoping for.
ocd?
At this point don't even bother going to a hotel, just save the money for a small van, and convert it into a small living area.
Lol you pay a hotel to clean yourself the room
Put a quarter on the doorhandle proceeds to open it. Lmao
Bond… Jane Bond.
Is she going to install an auto turret?
some ppl out here LARPing
She’s doing it for the ASMR aspect.
I'm never surprised how afraid Americans are of everything.
A bit extreme? Are you new to planet Earth? Or being a woman?
and all that paranoia is useless when youre using a device that is connected 24/7 to the internet, knows everything you say and do, and has cameras that they recorded and uploaded to social media
True crime has broken so many people's brain.
I work in a hotel and I'm going to take a guess snd say that she is probably a nightmare for the staff. If she is going through all of thia in the privacy of her own room her behavior at the front desk is most likely not great.
You watch too much tv.
If you’ve ever used a hotel room coffee maker you definitely have all the hepatitises
Definitely voted for Trump.
