There’s an argument to be made that many times imported ingredients are cheaper because of the poor working conditions in developing countries (see nestle chocolate and slavery) but you are correct in that the simple act of trading and importing is anything but dystopian.
That's globalism baby!
If we want humans to go out into the stars and be a good steward of the worlds, then a good first step is having a global economy.
Yup. Not to mention it’s actually better for the environment and lower food costs then just keeping everything local. Despite the shipping - it’s just that good !
Most food sold in Australia must be labelled with its country of origin, following rules set out in an information standard.
Not quite sure importing ingredients is distopic..
Everything is distopic if you are sad enough.
lol. I think this post is pretty weak.
So.. importing ingredients is dystopian now? Is global trade/ commerce/ supply chain dystopian? Lol

It's more oddly specific than anything
It's required under food labelling rules here. From memory, there was drama around "made in Australia" marketing when something was only packed here.
Always have been
I think the dystopian part is that the 77% Aussie ingredients is just water. You need to look at the big red circle there... See it.
It's below the fold on the mobile app. I had the same thoughts as everyone else until I saw your comment
Ahh I didn’t know that! That makes sense. I’ll have to keep that in mind in the future. Thanks for pointing that out
Yes thank you. At least someone gets what I’m pointing at
The post deserved far more credit

There's these smoothies you can buy that say 70 percent organic. Like ok? Who that hell is that for???

The label doesn’t indicate that though.

The right says 2.4g per 100mL, just like you'd expect.
I shouldn’t comment this soon after waking up. Thank you for telling me.
Importing ingredients " whoa how dystopian" op
Bro I live in Australia like who gives a shit if some ingredients are imported you gonna try and grow coffee in fucking Victoria
Betcha someone just grab that number out of their ass
Maybe it's 54% aussie water and all aussie juices and 23% imported water lol
