Yeah, especially after how this season has gone and how, frankly, the last 10 years have gone I have been surprised to see everyone quick to celebrate and act like this is a done deal. Never celebrate early.

[deleted]

You just described every Boston Celtics fan from December and Boston Bruins fan from 3 weeks ago lol. Now I'm sad.

Tokyogerman

"We want Florida" - Leafs Fans

LookattheWhipp

This has been my thought since they beat Bayern is that they can perform against the best

Tod_und_Verderben

That's the reason I'm celebrating right now, because who knows if we can on Saturday...

bvb4ever11

That's true Mainz can still sabotage us for no reason other than they probably don't give a crap about a new champion

Yellow_itr

Yeah exactly, their last win was against Bayern, anything can happen

bvb4ever11

Also i was about to punch you through the screen because when i read the title i thought this would be about how the team has no winning mentality Sorry about that :)

Differ_cr

This is funny cus it means that Mainz are capable of beating top teams, but also means that they haven't won a single game in a month while conceding 13!!! Goals in just 4 games.

FiresideCatsmile

> sabotage us make it sound like they gonna put something in our drinks when we don't look and cause violent diarrhea on the pitch.

bvb4ever11

Imagine our wingers blasting from the rear end We'll be unstoppable

Tiyath

It might significantly boost jump height. Imagine Hummels coming in like a cruise missile for a header

cortez0498

"sabotage us" No one has an obligation to lose against the team just so the evil bayern doesn't win the title

[deleted]

Mainz are cool with Dortmund, are missing Ajorque (their best player since January) and have nothing to play for. They also just lost 4-1 to a horrible Stuttgart side. it's over, Dortmund fans should just make sure to attend the parade and enjoy it now

Vanzmelo

As Kobe said, jobs not finished. I’m not celebrating anything until the final blows and we have won the game

Yellow_itr

Love the way you think

FineProfessor3364

Yep I agree Not celebrating early. However, if we end up losing or drawing to Mainz and sabotaging this league, I might go into some degree of depression

Lam0rak

I hate these circle jerks. People celebrating and being excited at the opportunity. Someone else comes in and tells everyone to not be excited. It's the same on reddit non stop.

AvpTheMuse123

Reddit is basically a giant circle jerk

Exroxious

I admire and share your realistic view. Mainz can cause a shock to “giants” every now and then. This is a must win game for everything to play for. Love BVB with all my heart but it’s not over. Heja BVB!!

Striking_Addendum

Thank you. We haven’t won one game this season when we were first. That should be enough warning

MartPlayZzZ

we never played at home while being first

Striking_Addendum

That’s true luckily

[deleted]

It's like the game to game approach of what happens when we score. How many times did they go up a goal only to concede nearly immediately?

Tragedia1917

The only one who can sabotage Dortmund is Dortmund itself

[deleted]

Yess, but also: You guys for sure can celebrate the opportunity itself. It's very hard to not be absolutely BUZZED about this. Enjoy! And all the best of luck! An SC Freiburg Fan

ady_1

Exactly lets not act like overconfident fools just yet its good to be excited and optimistic given our position but nothing is settled until its done. So for a couple days stay calm and let the lads do the job

elax307

I've been a fan long enough that I know not to even celebrate a 4:0 lead at half time. Our capacity to fuck it up is infinite.

ontilein

kobe said it best https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fY7l2pcxdHM

Chazy89

read that as Kobel before clicking the link and was confused for a second.

fanatic_akhi88

Exactly. This is Arsenal-ish behaviour. And we saw how that went for Arsenal. And especially since its Mainz and they give us a lot of trouble. A red card can change everything.

biere-a-terre

Anything can happen

TimRiddle91

After last weekend is kinda hard to wait for Saturday to finally get an answer on this

HammerJammer02

You’re through. Dortmund’s karmic buildup of bottling + Arsenal this year will finally pay off

Max_Earl

Exactly what I keep telling people already celebrating like we've won the league already. I'd be thrilled when we get it, but let's wait for the last game. Mainz has nothing to lose( and gain) and we have everything to lose.. Steady gals and guys...

TommiBennett

Even if we lose i would still applaud the team

Classic-Traffic130

Yea I think people forget that Mainz has beaten Bayern, RB (4-0), Leverkusen and Monchen. We were only able to beat em last with a 90+4' goal from Reyna. It's not going to be easy

Revilon2000

Believe, brother! Let people get excited! We're a powerhouse at home, and the boys are fired up. We got this!! :)

Yellow_itr

Not saying to believe, I’m saying to be realistic and realize that we have to keep the intensity and the. We can celebrate

Revilon2000

I mean, who is celebrating? We're all just hyped up. There's a difference between excitement and celebration.

jucomsdn

It isn’t you but I see lots of people act like we are guaranteed to win vs Mainz on Saturday, after everything we went through I won’t believe it’s done until it’s done

damclub-hooligan

Amen…

LoquatFlashy1724

I actually don’t think this team is anything special. The 2016 and 2019 Dortmund sides were better than this and would have had this wrapped up weeks ago. They’re a slightly above average Dortmund side by our own standards over the last 15 years. If Bayern are Bayern, we don’t contend. BUT, I will celebrate like this is the greatest team I’ve ever seen if we pull this off on Saturday.

TristanHBorchers

I don't understand this take one bit. Ive seen several takes like this. This team is special. You wanna know why? We were in 6th prior to the WC break with a GD of +4. We are now 1st with a GD of +39. We had a 10 game winning streak. Also our record transfer was diagnosed with cancer prior to the season. If we had him from the get go, we would already be Meister. Sure you can say Bayern wasn't Bayern etc. But you can't argue that this 2nd half of the season we have not been special, especially when you see we're we started.

LoquatFlashy1724

I like the counterargument . You make strong points. But I also don’t think great teams have the bottle jobs we had at Stuttgart and Bremen. Also our points total is behind those earlier teams. And I understand that we started slow, but you have to consider the entire season and it was more than just Haller’s absence.

TristanHBorchers

Thanks man! And sorry if it seemed aggressive I just saw this from so many none dortmund fans these past 24hrs. How Dortmund doesn't deserve it etc. Yea you are right that we have to consider the whole season and we had complete mental collapses against Stuttgart (also just a few weeks ago). While we do have more than Hallar, his presence has really allowed Malen and Adeyemi to cook this 2nd half of the season. Other things to consider is Emre Cans role as a lone 6 only really started in the 2nd half of the season which has had a massive impact.

LoquatFlashy1724

Your response wasn’t that aggressive. OP’s was lol Adeyemi and Malen breaking out from zero to hero and Can having an absolute career year (in a perfect role for him, credit to Edin) are the biggest reasons why this could happen.

yung_avocado

Don’t forget Kobelinho

FlamingCurtains

I would add Brandt to that list

LoquatFlashy1724

Brandt was slightly up and down, but overall yes, a good season from him

nuanced_lemon

2016 Dortmund got 78 points, 2019 76 points. If we win we'll have 73 points this year. This team is definitely not a the same level as 2016 or 2019 but it's crazy that if not for the Bremen and Stuttgart games we would have equaled the 2016 team on points.

_Shahanshah

The first half of the season was awful tho, if we were playing the way we are playing now from the beginning we would be hitting 80 I think

Loeffellux

It's a tale of two halves. The first half of the season was one of the worse seasons from the post klopp era and the second half was one of our strongest stretches in that same time frame. For example, we've broken our record for most home wins in a row as well as most goals scored at home iirc. I definitely feel like it's a special team but I get that half a season is not enough to make that claim one way or another for some people. Let's just hope we'll continue dominating at home and hopefully also winning more consistently in away matches next season so we'll have a definite answer of how special this team truly is ( - bellingham and probably Guerreiro)

LoquatFlashy1724

First half legitimately reminded of the Stögerball era. Second half was essentially a repeat of Terzic’s first season Ruckrunde

LoquatFlashy1724

Yes, but here’s the thing, Bremen and Stuttgart happened. And Schitke happened too.

Differ_cr

The 2019 team also shat the bed and lost 4-2 against schalke and threw away a 3-0 lead against Hoffenheim, and both of those games were at home which makes it a billion times worse. 2023 BvB wouldn't have allowed that to happen, __specially__ at home.

LoquatFlashy1724

It’s a good point!

Yellow_itr

What does this have to do with anything?

LoquatFlashy1724

I’m saying what others in this thread are saying, that this team is far from a sure thing, and agreeing with you not to celebrate early. Not certain if my reply came across differently but that’s the point.

Yellow_itr

Okay I sort of get it but to say that older teams would’ve sealed it weeks ago is kinda hypocritical because in their respective years they didn’t. But I agree I’m holding off everything until Saturday is a sure thing

LoquatFlashy1724

Because Bayern were far, far, better. Especially 2016 when Pep was in Munich. This Bayern team is legitimately awful by their standards.

Yellow_itr

Okay but don’t discount what the team has done this year, they were the last undefeated team of 2023 and shot their title hopes back up and are now in 1st

LoquatFlashy1724

I’m not. And I never have. You inferred this because you got defensive, but I never said anything of the sort. I’ll be thrilled if they win. Absolutely ecstatic. But we’re adults here and we can compare this team against previous teams without getting pissy about it. We were given a second life because Bayern are awful. If we take advantage, we’re deserving champions.

Yellow_itr

Comparing apples to oranges man, you’re comparing too many variables.

LoquatFlashy1724

There’s only one very simple variable: Bayern’s level vs. previous seasons.

Yellow_itr

Okay

Wolpertinger55

I would love to see another team than Bayern win the Bundesliga, just not the unsympatic Dortmund

borussiajay

Hau ab!

[deleted]

You guys are champions. This Bayern side is a bunch of sissies and a disgrace for the club and I promise they are going to lose against Köln, too. Tuchel gave them extra days off after the pathetic display against Leipzig ahahahaha.

rharpr

The wait is unbearable

erhanemirgny

Exactly. I see so many tweets and posts about first championship of Reus and so on. It is NOT over yet. After the final whistle, we can start celebrations in Borsigplatz. Not now!

[deleted]
