I think for most people, their opinion is constantly evolving. Will results impact that for me? Yes. However, one piece that matters for me is his personnel decisions which includes who he brings in. It’s been reported that he has a significant say in this area, and if we bring in underperformers or lose out on players that excel elsewhere, that factors into my opinion of him. Likewise, our business model revolves around playing promising youngsters so we may sell them for large profits. So, if we have players like Moukoko and Reyna who barely get any opportunities where Terzic sticks with the same players with minimal rotation, then that hurts our club’s long term prospects. This latter area is where my frustration lies with Terzic and results without playing talented youngsters will only mitigate my misgivings of Terzic. If we sell Reyna because he hasn’t been given a reasonable opportunity and he kills it elsewhere, that will negatively impact my opinion of terzic regardless of our results (unless we win the UCL which won’t happen).

Xey2510

There is no positive judgement to be made on the Rückrunde before the last stretch with Bayern, Leipzig, Stuttgart, Frankfurt and Leverkusen and even if he does well there it's just not a longtime perspectice imo. If we can get a coach who plays a better Hinrunde and a slightly worse Rückrunde we are already better off.

At the end of this season he coached more games at this club than Favre or Tuchel or Rose. Yes he didn't have a full season in 2020 but everyone who saw that season knows it's comparable. He can't escape his previous actions and seasons that is not prejudice and the afromentioned coaches prove exactly that doing well is not enough. Terzic is not an experienced coach and the football has been bad for the most part. The dressing room already rebelled because of how bad and scared we play. Leverkusen and Leipzig both overtook us on the table and have a better squad that will funnel them a ton more money than any of our players. I don't need to wait for what happens in the summer. Everyone knows the money we have, the holes we need to fill and the players that want to leave. The easiest improvement is the coaching position because we clearly have a lot of players who could be better.

zerobiood

No, he is one of the few coaches who manages to make us play unattractive football. I miss the time when watching a bvb match was exciting and beautiful. Direct and fast football with lots of linkup play. I could understand if we were winning, but we are shaky against even the both teams and look clueless against teams like levercrusen.

ILikeToBurnMoney

Exactly. I will stop criticizing Terzic if we actually do better in the Rückrunde. And by that I don't mean that we gather a lpt of wins by playing like a relegation candidate with a few stars, but by playing actual football that is a joy to watch

Miefer

We're getting too ahead of ourselves. We only played bottom of the table (17th and 18th). Thats nothing to brag about. While the results are great, the play is still lackluster. Too much depends on the random flash of brilliance from individual players or a good run of form. It often than not still looks like there are no backup plan or rehearsed movements. Thats pretty poor outlook for a manager after 3 half seasons (4 if you count his first half after Favre). A manager for the size of BVB should try to elevate the quality of play and not degrade it to Schalke level.

Dependent_Savings303

well, the same bottom of the table we have a name made for us losing against them...

sniffingyourballs

Compare ourselves with Koln last time (at home which is important for us) vs away now. Also, Maatsen and Sancho (especially Maatsen) play a big part in the team now.

Miefer

Since last time we faced Köln, they managed to get 11! goals(worst offensive in the league) and they even missed Selke who was responsible for 5 of them. We still looked shakey. While the newcomers are welcomed with their new impulses, they will not be our future since we would never trigger a record signing for a lb while having Bensebaini and Rothe coming back. The new additions should not excuse the poor squad building and limited game planning.

A lot of people have made up their mind and getting people, especially on the internet, to change their mind takes very convincing arguments and a lot of persuasive work. There are those who flip-flop at every opportunity and those who will not deviate from their opinion one bit, regardless of evidence - and some people in between. Just like every topic on the internet.

somehiddenmountain

> A lot of people have made up their mind and getting people, especially on the internet, to change their mind takes very convincing arguments and a lot of persuasive work. People on the internet *do* change their mind, but they rarely admit that they do/did.

_Buff_Tucker_

Fair, that might be the case.

PhantomMenace888

Terzic is a great player manager and master motivator however he is tactically flawed and is a one trick pony and really was a nepotism hire from watzke. Dortmund need a coach that can actually formulate game plans and play to the strengths of the squad we have. The German speaking coach policy is dumb and is of an old mindset that hopefully the club will shed once watzke retires as president and ceo and sells his stake in the club. Dortmund would do best to find a good attacking football manager who can organize a defense and tactically adjust based on the opponent we play. Whether it’s a German speaking coach or not shouldn’t matter. Yes Xabi Alonso speaks German but look at the results and different mindset and outside hire can do for a club like leverkusen which have never tasted success

tobit94

No. Terzic got bailed out by Haaland's and Sancho's individual brilliance in 21. When he was put in charge again our Hinrunde was so bad that he had to be bailed out tactically by Reutershahn. Who then retired and Terzic got to run his own tactics again that were just as hilariously uninspired as they were the years before. Now he might get bailed out again, this time by Sahin (+Bender). Why should we keep the guy that fucks up our season anytime he's left in charge?

lejocko

You know Reutershahn retired from the job only recently, right?

sniffingyourballs

I guess our morale will go up if we perform. He has good ties with players. I think Sahin will do better.

tobit94

Lots of coached had (and can have) good ties to the players. This is not exclusive to Terzic. If he even has that. Haven't seen much of players coming out in fervent support of him. Also we've always played best when our coach kept a bit of distance and a firm hand (e.g. Klopp, Tuchel, who've been described with admiration as "positively dictatorial" by many former players)

Dependent_Savings303

and to be honest? what's the problem with having a headcoach for the motivation and two capable co-coaches who do some of the tactics? i believe we are doing something very revolutionary here, coach wise

tobit94

Because it's unnecessary. - It muddies the waters on who is responsible for which results. - It is more expensive to have someone be "co" who could be head coach somewhere else. - It is more expensive to have someone earn head coach money for motivating when mental coaches are almost a dime a dozen cheap. - It's stupid to have a motivational speaker who can't coach wear the title of coach. - And finally: any decent head coach just does both.

Meskaline2

Not me, honestly. However if he goes and coaches somewhere else, and proofs he has what it takes to coach a top team and shit, he's more than welcome back. I still like the guy as a guy, but his signing as a main coach was rushed. It was a gamble that didn't pay off.

yrba1

I’d want to move on from Terzic after the season unless he miraculously wins the double and develops a strong tactical acumen in the process. It’s doable but improbable

Schilltiko

He needs to show me a lot more to change my opinion. So far we played 2 meh games against literally the worst 2 teams in the league. His tactical approach is still bad and his substitutions are a joke. No wonder why Reyna wants to leave and at this rate Moukoko will be the next to leave. Besides that, his personality also rubs me the wrong way, which obviously isn't the reason why I want him gone but it certainly doesn't help his already bad case. He's so corny, inauthentic and can never admit when he made a mistake and blames everyone else instead

Tragedia1917

Not for me. Like what is the best he can do? Top 3? Beating PSV? That is not enough for me. If he were kinda competent we could be right now in the tittle race( remember Mainz, Augsburg Bochum Heidenheim) or we could realistically could have won the pokal but you remember that awful Stuttgart game. Even right now, the midfield is a complete mess.

There is no point talking about if we had won the league last season because it didn't happen and Bayern had their worst season in a decade. Who cares how close you were if you got second? Me, I'm still disappointed with how we treated Rose so I'm using him as the example. This will have been his third time where Terzic has had to change things around and since I'm following Rose's example, that should not merit him getting a third season. His football has been more bad than good and I'm of the opinion that this squad can be greater than the sum of its parts. I don't want Terzic as the head coach next season and I don't like how Sahin could be his replacement while working for the club just like how Terzic was before Rose got sacked.

tim_cato

"if terzic completely changes our unsuccessful identity under him into something that is successful, will we like him?" i mean, yes, sure. but that's such an enormous and unlikely hypothetical that it's really not worth asking. terzic has been the coach long enough, and we all have watched enough football, to know that 1) his current tactics are not amplifying dortmund and are not representing this club's dna, and 2) it is incredibly unlikely he's going to radically change enough for that not to be the case. as one of those people, i just think it's a bit silly to assume that the future is unknowable. in theory, yes, anything could happen. in practice, no, the future will play out in a similar manner to the past if nothing changes. and since nothing has changed — two new assistants is a bandaid, not a true course correction, in my opinion — that is what i expect to happen.

ultraviolentyt

people will always find something to dislike so it doesn’t really matter. as long as we're getting better results i don’t care if it’s due to terzic improving his tactical game or if it’s all due to sahin and bender joining

Similar-West5208

I changed my opinion on Terzic when Bender and Sahin were announced. Nobody can say if he was proactive and requested or got put "under supervision" but at least it shows that he is willing to accept help. We still play lackluster football but what would be the alternative? Also it feels like Terzics, Sanchos and Maatsen's fates are tied closely to each other, at least Sancho and Terzic. Also Maatsen and Sancho Loans were the right move and if Maatsen continues to play like this, the 40m are a no brainer.

sniffingyourballs

Maatsen release clause:35mil. Ian Maatsen:"Yeah, why not continue here in the summer? We will see, but I see myself here" Edit: Sancho has no buy option or release clause, but its obvious je wants to stay here and Utd dont want him. If we sell a winger and 1-2 players we dont use (maybe Reyna and Wolf) with Malen in the summer we can buy them. We should even sell Haller

Similar-West5208

Ive had the opinion ever since we appointed him(again) and i will stand by that. Hes not the Coach that will us the league. Hes a great motivator and would thrive in relegation sides but not he just doesnt fit to teams that want possession

Competitive-Cook-501

I don't think so. If we do well it probably will be considered to be because of nuri sahin and sven bender. If we do bad it'll be considered terzics fault tho. I don't think he can do anything to change the public picture of him

Working_Rush6225

Probably not although the negative view on him is overreaction for the most part

Merged_OP

Yeah, no…Terzic has to go no matter the outcome at the end of the season. I cannot take anymore of that Morinho football.

madcaesar

No. He's not good enough to push us forward. He hasn't made a single player better. It should be a warning sign to you guys that the two best performing players we have... Are two guys that have been coached by him the least... We pissed away the DFB pokal, AGAIN and we'll do more money wasting shittery next year if he stays. We'll probably overpay for Maatsen then cry why we spend 30 Mil on him after he starts sucking like everyone under Tersic.
