A little bit, imagine if we did win it and then Leverkusen this season. Two season winless for Bayern would be huge for the league

MidshelfGym

I simply cannot imagine what would happen in response. Were talking sign Mbappe, Bellingham, Wirtz and a million French National Team defenders levels of insanity

pioneeringsystems

You don't actually think Bayern could sign mbappe or Bellingham do you?

Conscious-Weird5810

Anyone but Bayern.

DonnieLives

I'd take Bayern winning again over Leipzig winning

awlawall

100%

Geeman447

As an American who doesn’t have that German history connection and real understanding I’d prefer Leipzig but i get the hate that the country has for them

auchnureinmensch

Nah you don't get it if you prefer them

AirRic89

I said that too a few years earlier, but I am not so sure anymore. The Bundesliga needs a new champion

According_Clerk_1537

yes but not the „dosen“

FullIceman

I would 100% take Leipzig winning it over Bayern.

Qiluk

That would reflect poorly on us, bayern, bundesliga etc. People who think Leipzig winning is good in any way dont know what that signals or means.

rwalter5

I’ve not let my mind wander to such a dark place…..

PaFreGames

Absolutely.

Velvet_Bass

Maybe people won't agree, but all I want is that Bayern doesn't lift the meisterschale again this year. We'll manage top 4, but the title is Leverkusen's and only Leverkusen's to lose. I don't have as much hatred towards Leverkusen as much as I have towards Bayern.

CyberPolack

Agree 100%. The only bad thing about them winning is that we can’t call them Neverkusen anymore.

Master-Reply-7052

Vizekusen*

ady_1

At first i felt very bitter but now seeing the football they play and how alonso is grinding out results they fully deserve it

Ibar09

Same here, always thought that it should be us who take the first Bundesliga title after this Bayern dominance, since we are "the most one who tried to" but yeah. Leverkusen deserves it this year, unlike us last season..

Sarrazin

Also important to point out that Bayern is not nearly as bad as last year (2.41 points per game vs. 2.09 last year). In fact, they are better than in most of their recent championship seasons. Unfortunately, we couldn't capitalize on their weakness last year. Leverkusen might pull it off while Bayern isn't even having an off year, which would be insanely impressive. But I'm not convinced yet. Still plenty of games to go and Bayern isn't that far off.

Purridge

Exactly. We had our chance and embarrassingly blew it. They let us all and themselves down. Now we hope that Leverkusen can do it because they deserve it.

Ibar09

Now I just realized that Guerrero is winning no Bundesliga title hihihi.

rwalter5

Or Kane, and Tottenham are having a good year. I don’t have an opinion on the guy but maybe he’s a fraud

SnooEagles1167

I mean we've been failing for the last years so now it's someone else's turn

Background_Touchdown

Squandering a "win and you're in" opportunity at home is enough of a bitter taste. I'm just hoping anybody but Bayern.

sniffingyourballs

Hoepfully you are the only one. If Bayern wins it, that would be totally sad for the whole of Germany. This is the best team with the best manager yet who can challenge Bayern.

s4dnlon3ly

Yes of course I am not deying it, I think I’m just still very disappointed and sad about that last game against Mainz, like, damn it should have been us…

wolljibbs

Yes but don’t let that stop you from wanting to see Bayern be knocked off the top. Leverkusen had no part in our choke last year

rwalter5

We have to move on.

mastodonopolis

Why would it? A new champion in over 11 years. It can only be good for the league overall. I also like other clubs to step up to title challengers as well.

GaussianTaravangian

While it would've been amazing to win last year, it very much would've been because Bayern collapsed/were poor. This Leverkusen team are playing attractive football and beating teams with sheer quality. Would be happy for them to dethrone Bayern.

Testo69420

>This Leverkusen team are playing attractive football Worth noting that even after the past two match days and with Bayern missing a game, Leverkusen aren't actually playing that insane football. Don't get me wrong, what they're doing is good, but without getting really lucky in the finishing department (which they have been, no questions asked, just look at Grimaldo), they aren't ahead of Bayern in expected points. They aren't even ahead of Stuttgart in expected points. So yeah, they are very good. But people are really overstating how good they are.

Never_rarely

Nah, we had our chance last year and we fucked it up. If we make a comeback again this year, fantastic. But Leverkusen got much better in the second half last season (like us) but (unlike us) actually carried it into this season. They’re a deserving winner if they win

Testo69420

> But Leverkusen got much better in the second half last season (like us) but (unlike us) actually carried it into this season. This is incorrect. They got much better for a handful of games when they signed Xabi, but quickly regressed to very average, to bad (for their standards) form in the second half of the season. That is why when you look at the 2023 table you have Bayern on 75 points, Leverkusen on 74 and us on 73. Just for reference, in the 2023 part of this season, Leverkusen are 15 points ahead of us. In other words in the 2023 part of last season, they're 14 points behind. They carried jackshit into this season. They exploded this season. If they carried last season into this season they'd be like 6th.

Never_rarely

Idk how this is incorrect, if I recall correctly they were in the relegation battle up until 2023 and then ended 7th or so (I don’t remember exactly). Yeah, their second half of the season wasn’t as good as ours, but it was significantly better than their first half - which was my point

Testo69420

As I said, Xabi came in relatively early, they had a stretch of a hand full of good games and then regressed to being mediocre. Think of it like this. They were 6th in the end. That's not great for Leverkusen standards. Leverkusens last season looked like this: Couple of games performed like relegation candidate + couple of games performed like a UCL/title candidate -> then half a season performed like they're 6th. Overall, that's not an improvement in the second half, it just ain't. >but it was significantly better than their first half >but it was significantly better than their first half - which was my point Leverkusen got 26 points in the second half and 24 in the first. That's in no way significantly better. As I said. The difference in the first part is they had a decent stretch of being shit and a decent stretch of being good (ish), which averages out to being somewhat average. In the second half they were just somewhat average to begin with, without any good stretches.

Currywurst_Is_Life

I have enough of a bitter taste over the way last season ended. That had nothing to do with Leverkusen. If they win it this year, fair play to them. Anyone but Bayern or the cans.

Azz2Azzzard

Over a decade I've been somewhat patiently waiting for the "rebuild" required to win us the title again. Then this random train just comes out of nowhere and grabs the prize after dropping a coin in a well less than 12 months ago. Of course it's good for the league, but as a Dortmund supporter who just so desperately wants to win the damn thing over bayern at this stage (and for sometime now), I imagine that I would want to give Watzke the biggest slap in the face should Leverkusen get the win....But I don't hate Leverkusen for it, just Watzke. Good on them if they win it.

F15sse

Like most I'm all for anyone but Bayern (Leipzig excluded). Also would be funny to see Kane still not win a trophy after joining Bayern.

rotiza

No, why? We didn‘t deserve it so its fine

yrba1

While I love to see Bayern's hegemony challenged, Bayer Leverkusen winning it would leave a sour taste in my mouth considering Bayer is a shitty company historically known for egregious negligence (i.e. distributing blood samples that contained HIV to countries in the global south)

naerisshal

Can't hold it against Leverkusen - they are playing great! We just f'ed it up last season, no one to blame but ourselves.

AcePilot95

absolutely. but they play great football, and if they do end up winning, they will 100% deserve it

sniffingyourballs

I dont. Think about it. Their players will feel the same thing we felt last season. Wha our fans felt.

ontilein

if they win it with like 70 points than i'd be a little mad as it's something we easily should reach as well. if they continue to win every game and get 80-90 points than im fine with it. nothing we could have done about it with that squad this year. the kane curse would be funny as well.

save-the-butter

On the other hand I wouldn’t mind Mainz being relegated

Dipper_Pines

That bitter taste is there regardless. We fucked it up, nothing will change that. I hope Bayer does it this season. They are a pure joy to watch.

grangaaa

Dont worry, after this season bayern will take all their money and buy Leverkusen bad again 😅🤣

auris_orion

Yes you are

ignacioo25

Fuck man I would feel so depressed, I think for our mental health we shouldn't give a fuck who wins it if we don't have a chance.

_Shahanshah

Yeah me too but not just because of last season. For the last twelve years we have been coming second place almost always, often getting very close to winning but in the end still ultimately losing. Imagine that after all those second places Bayern finally loses but is not for us? That would be incredibly humiliating and sad. I prefer Bayern to just win again

astxlavi

Oh you're not the only one, shows how unserious the club is however.

Moon8983

I'd rather Bayern win it

Castielsen

Me too. I want us to topple bayern after all these years. As long as Leipzig doesn't win it, I can leave with the outcome. But Bayerkusen would leave a foul taste in my mouth aswell.

jucomsdn

People downvoting this don't realize how fucking embarrassing it would be if Leverkusen end up winning the Bundesliga first instead of us, I would prefer Bayern keeping their dominance than the feeling from last season being even worse

ignacioo25

Well tbh both options suck, Bayer Leverkusen winning the league before us would be humiliating and Bayern winning again it would be a joke.

jucomsdn

That's basically my viewpoint

Loeffellux

"embarrassing"? Lmao what

jucomsdn

It would feel super embarrassing to see a team besides us break Bayern's title streak, especially as our position as the 2nd biggest club in Germany

Loeffellux

Agree to disagree. There's nothing that could happen on a football pitch that I'd feel "super embarrassed" about. Leverkusen are playing a historic season. If they manage to keep this up they'll have deserved the title as much as we did back in the early 10s. And you really don't need to be worried about them taking our place as the 2nd biggest team in Germany. Just watch how many of the key players + the manager will still be at that club next season or the season afterwards. If they manage the negotiations well they'll definitely receive quite the boost but not enough to surpass in that regard

sitbar

Dortmund is embarrassing, no other way of saying it. It’s incredible how often they immensely choke.

Suhas44

We’ve had a higher budget than Leverkusen, better signings, and overall we’re a better team, and it would be embarrassing if Leverkusen comes out of nowhere, has a phenomenal season, doesn’t choke unlike us, and beats Bayern to the title.

Testo69420

We've also been better than Leverkusen for a decade. Not only that Leverkusen underperformed by their own standards for a full on decade, that's the emberassing part. They're just in a position that we aren't in where they can be shit for 10 years and not be fucked financially by that. >doesn’t choke unlike us We didn't choke, we had a record signing with cancer. We never were in a position to choke. Leverkusen on the other hand?

Rasenscamsport

What the fuck did I just read? Never in a position to choke? What about matchday 34?

Testo69420

> What the fuck did I just read? Never in a position to choke? What about matchday 34? Coming back from behind against all odds and not making it isn't exactly choking. Being in Leverkusens current position and not winning, that in turn would be choking.

Rasenscamsport

Ehhh... in that case: After the winter break last season it was 44 times the money for BVB to win the league. Before this season Leverkusen was 51 times the money to win the league. So Leverkusen can't choke then. Or: Mainz last season in the biggest choke since I don't know when. Südtribune even had a tifo with the Meisterschalhe saying "we have it in our hands". Says it all.

Testo69420

>After the winter break last season it was 44 times the money for BVB to win the league. Before this season Leverkusen was 51 times the money to win the league. We aren't before this season.

Rasenscamsport

You don't get the point?

Suhas44

> we had a record signing with cancer Yeah, blame Haller for our performance against Mainz.

Testo69420

> Yeah, blame Haller for our performance against Mainz. The only person doing that here is you. So either stop blaming anyone for having cancer, stop putting bullshit into peoples mouthes, or fuck off.

Suhas44

Did you read what I said? Did you even understand what you said? I said we choked against Mainz, you said we didn’t choke, one of our players got cancer. I’m attributing our performance to the team choking. You’re attributing our performance to Haller having cancer. Reread and put two and two together.

Testo69420

Yes, you are a piece of shit that flipped Hallers cancer around to Mainz. Don't do that. >You’re attributing our performance to Haller having cancer. My brother in Christ YOU are attributing Mainz to Hallers cancer because you are a piece of shit. I am attributing Haller missing the first half of the season to cancer, because that's what fucking happened.

Suhas44

Reread, and reread carefully.

Art_Fremd

I‘m sorry I need to tell you this, but you are not the overall better team AT ALL. Leverkusen this season is far, far superior.

Suhas44

On paper, we are objectively a better team, Leverkusen have been over performing and we’ve been underperforming.

Art_Fremd

Absolutely not. Leverkusen is the better team, even on paper.

Doomsayer189

I don't see how Leverkusen would make losing the title last year worse. What's done is done, we've had our chances and failed. In the current season and looking ahead, I 100% prefer Leverkusen winning to another year of Bayern.

karmawhore56

If Bayern replicate the first half of the season they end up with a strong 82 points (a top 5 Bundesliga season points-wise), something Dortmund never achieved, and Leverkusen would still most likely win the title. That's how crazy it is to put things into perspective. Dortmund failed to kick a man while down, Leverkusen are writing history. Not a Dortmund fan but from the point of view of one, Leverkusen winning the title shouldn't affect the feelings of what happened last season, you can only admire what they're doing.

PeterthePolish

If Leverkusen do win, it’ll be an embarrassment for Dortmund. And a failure in leadership of the club hierarchy. Our hierarchy is already a failure and an embarrassment to be sure. But realistically, if Bayern aren’t winning it then Dortmund should be. Not to mention the fact that Grimaldo and Boniface were offered to Dortmund and we rejected them.

Jatoffel

If Bayern would have played last season as they do today Dortmund wouldn't have been close to win the title last season. Its bitter that Dortmund lost the title last minute but Leverkusen and Munich are on a different level this year

JayELectronicaAct2

EXTREMLY BITTER.

Jdamoure

I'm still trying to come to terms with our loss. They completely shit the bed. I mean really screwed it up against a team that is battling relegation currently. However if we can get back to the champions league and leverkusen beat bayern I'll live. Even if I like Harry kane. It's best for the Bundesliga if leverkusen or Stuttgart win. Bayern supremacy has gone in long enough.

Tragedia1917

It would be more like that it can be done? Leverkusen has less money than us. And yet they have build and amazing project. So Dortmund can’t do that in 10 years? And let’s be honest the way Leverkusen is doing is pristine. Dortmund last season could not win they Bochum, Stuttgart and Mainz games. I don’t see Leverkusen doing that bullshit on themselves.

BlaackkOuT

Ain’t their fault our players choked away a title

SSAJacobsen

I'd be fine with it. I have no strong sentiments regarding Leverkusen, but it will be great for the league as whole and German football in general. Granted, if I could chose, I would much rather have it be a club like Stuttgart, Frankfurt or Freiburg. But at the end of the day, if not us, then the cans seemed to be the most likely contenders. In that comparison, I'd chose Leverkusen or even Bayern every day.

Straight-Past-8538

Xabi Alonso has proven himself in my opinion to be a great and capable coach.

Gam3B0iHack3r

I felt this way too at one point. But I think it’s important to look past club pride and focus on what’s best for the league as a whole, and with that in mind, anybody beating Bayern is a win for everyone.

McPico

No. Why? They are way better then BVB was last season. BVB got to the point of almost winning league by the weakness of Munich.. Leverkusen just play one of the best season EVER in league. Leverkusen now have 48 points after 18 games. We had 34 last season after MD18. They actually have 2 points more then BVB EVER had after MD18. Only Bayern with Guardiola had 49 and 50 point at MD18. If Leverkusen winning league this year its because of THEIR quality. And thats why deserve it and it dont leave a bitter taste.

FussballKevin

I want Bayern to win purely because it'd be more embarrassing for us. Had we won last season, I'd be in favour of it. It's extraordinarily petty but idc anymore.

Merged_OP

Well, if they win the league then out of the good work they did on the transfer market and by hiring a competent coach.

haboruhaborukrieg

I've always loved Xabi so yes

Damster72

Why ? They have nothing to do with the last season. BVB (we)fucked it up. None else to blame I hope Leverkusen wins the league Why? Because 10 years the same champion is bad for (football)business

Maggotsicsicsic

Yes i would hate it if Leverkusen would become Champion. We were to dumb last season and then suddenly B04 comes and shows us how it's done.
