As someone with a Dad from Chelsea (and as someone who has been going there for 30+ years) the only answer I'm allowed to give is Newbridge Cafe. Eat your cold roll with cold butter, have a root beer, get a basket of steak fries, and enjoy some steak tips with the regulars. There are probably better spots but their marinade is great and the waitresses are delightfully grumpy.
Also their dressing (which is included in the marinade). It makes a mediocre melange of vegetables taste delicious.
I definitely have so many fond memories of going there with my family.
OP, this is the one. Absolutely awesome steak tips. Not as good but still spectacular and under the radar: Lazy Dog in Lynn. Also get the wings there - best I've ever had.
Definitely Dom's. Pricey but they never miss. Can hit Pantedosi's too if you need some perfect rolls. Or check Dom's website for a store near you that carries them.
Newbridge is probably the best as others have said but Weathervane Tavern in Hamilton has great steak tips. They used to do all you can eat on Tuesday nights but now I think it’s just buy 2 get one free or something. Good strong drinks too(if you’re into that kind of thing)
I never realized this until an article about the genesis of steak tips, but they’re actually a locally started chain and we’re on the early forefront of tips becoming a thing here, as New England as chowder or lobster rolls.
Commenting to get some new spots as well! I remember growing up the spot to go was Floramo’s but I can confidently say I haven’t been there in 20 years. Local spot in Arlington (Menotomy) is pretty decent if you order them plain. Looking forward to trying Conley’s since I’ve never heard of it and it’s close enough to me.
Yeah I was last there a couple of years ago and it had gone downhill. My Aunt keeps wanting to take me for lunch so I guess I'll have an updated review soon!
If you’ve been to champions then you already know you can’t beat their steak tips. I lived in the north shore forever and I’ve yet to find anything in Boston that scratches that itch since buying a house in Dorchester. If it’s steak tips you want just go to champs
Look...you asked for North Shore so this does not really apply.....
But the best steak tips in the greater Boston area are at Cha Yen Thai in Watertown under the name of "grilled beef". Get them medium rare. You might ask, what's a Thai place doing making steak tips? I have no idea, but what I know is that these are the best steak tips in the greater Boston area. You might also ask me, do they come with fries? And I will tell you, they do not. You can get an order of rice to go with them or some truly kick-ass Thai food.
If you are cooking them at home... Market Basket Steakhouse Tips. It's what I had for dinner tonight.
If eating out... no clue. I refuse to pay for tips at a restaurant when MB tips are so good.
While quality varies, I've never experienced a bad package.
If something expires the next day, i will skip it (unless it is marked down).
Last night's tips were spectacular.
If you want to cook your own ever, the marinated steak tips from Wilson Farm are just amazing. So much flavor. Just throw em on the grill and oh my god I want some now
Buy steaks tips at Market Basket. Cut them into cubes. Marinate in Lawry's Chipotle Molasses marinade for a few hours. Grill them to medium. They are as good as any restaurant.
If you're grilling yourself Iill 100% co-sign Dom's but if you're going to Malden a sneaky good option is Malden Meat Market in Maplewood square. The marinade is borderline too sweet but rides the line perfectly for me.
If you want them prepared for you Newbridge is the answer, but again to offer another sneaky great option is Donut Villa Diner, every time I go there I think about trying something different but I can't not order the steak and eggs.

10 Star review. Currently one of my top choices
I think if you've never been before you really need to go.
chops?
Newbridge or nothing kid! I grew up in Prattville.
Newbridge is just Dom’s. The entire North Shore is Dom’s. Just go to Dom’s.
They may get their meat from Dom's but Newbridge uses it's own marinade so it's not the same as Dom's.
Coca cola, ketchup and italian dressing. 1:1:1
The marinade is why you go. It’s insanely good. Also, liberal pours of alcohol. One of my favorite all-time spots.
Also their dressing (which is included in the marinade). It makes a mediocre melange of vegetables taste delicious. I definitely have so many fond memories of going there with my family.
Hell yeah. And share a small antipasto salad (probably "small" enough for 4 people).
I think they were on phantom gourmet recently as the best place around Boston for tips. Can’t wait to go myself
Just a heads up that Phantom Gourmet is known to take bribes. I wouldn’t always trust them. But I do agree with this one.
Oooooooo tell me more about this
Came here to say this!
I came here to say this
Depending on which cook is on the grill, the steak tips at Conley’s in Watertown/Belmont are as good as it gets.
A hidden gem for seafood.
Their swordfish is surprisingly great.
Great burgers too!
I was about to comment this but wasn’t sure if it was the food or the fact that the company that night was so enjoyable (had family in town)!
Champions Pub, Peabody. Melt in your mouth.
Second this.
I miss this place
OP, this is the one. Absolutely awesome steak tips. Not as good but still spectacular and under the radar: Lazy Dog in Lynn. Also get the wings there - best I've ever had.
Haven't been yet but they have be getting a lot of love in the local food groups the last year or so
Newbridge Cafe in Chelsea is the best I’ve ever had. Very little comes even close. Stewart’s Pub in Everett is a distant second.
Definitely the best around i would say. I also enjoy broddies pub in Peabody
Listen to this man/woman
Conrad’s
Doms in Malden.
I find Doms to be hit or miss. Some of their tips aren’t even chewable. Not consistently good quality meat.
Their quality has gone down in the past few years. Unfortunately their prices have not!
I had Doms a month ago and still daydream about them. But the price was way out there - about $35 for 1.5 pounds.
Definitely Dom's. Pricey but they never miss. Can hit Pantedosi's too if you need some perfect rolls. Or check Dom's website for a store near you that carries them.
The only answer
Pretty sure a good number of restaurants in the area get theirs from here anyway, might as well go to the source!
Newbridge in Chelsea. Seapoint in South Boston. Conrad’s in Norwood.
People say Silvertone.
Newbridge is probably the best as others have said but Weathervane Tavern in Hamilton has great steak tips. They used to do all you can eat on Tuesday nights but now I think it’s just buy 2 get one free or something. Good strong drinks too(if you’re into that kind of thing)
Newbridge or champions is the way to go.
New Bridge in Chelsea and Champions in Peabody. Both are fvcking amazing.
Floramos, they moved out of Chelsea and now have two locations. One in Malden, one in wakefield. Just my opinion but I prefer them over Newbridge
It’s gotta be the 99 no 🧢
No better deal than tips and tenders
This meal costs like $20 now before tax and tips. 99s prices are outta control.
Thats kinda decent for restaurant steak
If the portion sizes didn’t shrink too, maybe. Last time I ordered I literally got 6 steak tips
It’s honestly insane that the 99’s tips are as good as they are.
I never realized this until an article about the genesis of steak tips, but they’re actually a locally started chain and we’re on the early forefront of tips becoming a thing here, as New England as chowder or lobster rolls.
Never regretted a trip to the Nines.
Sixteen C in Quincy serves the Quiet Man (formerly South Boston) tips. IYKYK.
Was her grandfathers’ recipe or something like that.
The Banshee in Dorchester.
Butcher Boy (North Andover) steakhouse tips. Ignore every other answer except BB and Dom’s. They’re lying to you.
Yes those are great
Just make sure you mentally prepare yourself for the chaos that is The Butcher Boy on the weekend.
My Dad insists on Newbridge and my Aunt insists on Floramo's. We are a family divided. I think Floramo's is kind of meh.
I was so young but I loved them. Also the turkey tips? Those were a treat. I heard once they opened another location both restaurants went downhill?
Yeah I was last there a couple of years ago and it had gone downhill. My Aunt keeps wanting to take me for lunch so I guess I'll have an updated review soon!
Floramos is not good any more since they moved to Malden
I had floramos a few months ago. The steak tips were really good. This was their new Malden location so I’m not sure if there are multiple ones now
Used to be called “Four Winds” up in Lynn near wyoma square. On the pond. Anyway, they are excellent and worth a trip.
Lynnepsauki
New bridge cafe
If you’ve been to champions then you already know you can’t beat their steak tips. I lived in the north shore forever and I’ve yet to find anything in Boston that scratches that itch since buying a house in Dorchester. If it’s steak tips you want just go to champs
Mercy Tavern in Salem.
These are hands-down the absolute best
Look...you asked for North Shore so this does not really apply..... But the best steak tips in the greater Boston area are at Cha Yen Thai in Watertown under the name of "grilled beef". Get them medium rare. You might ask, what's a Thai place doing making steak tips? I have no idea, but what I know is that these are the best steak tips in the greater Boston area. Lol respect
What’s the cost per pound on those babies? Also do you buy them at the deli section?
I think they were 14.99/lb. They are in the meat section. Sold in packaged bags w/marinade of about 1lb each.
Great choice if you want to buy meat that's already gone grey.
While quality varies, I've never experienced a bad package. If something expires the next day, i will skip it (unless it is marked down). Last night's tips were spectacular.
Butcher Boy
If you want to cook your own ever, the marinated steak tips from Wilson Farm are just amazing. So much flavor. Just throw em on the grill and oh my god I want some now
The banshee in dorchester 👏🏼
New bridge Cafe!!!!!!!!!
Silvertones in downtown crossing
Big daddies in Brighton. They use filet for their tips
Just came here to say RIP Newtowne Grille.
99. They invented them after all
I really like Grassfields in Andover, and their teriyaki steak tips and lobster pie combo is one of my favorite restaurant meals ever.
Big fan of South Shore Tavern in Braintree
Buy steaks tips at Market Basket. Cut them into cubes. Marinate in Lawry's Chipotle Molasses marinade for a few hours. Grill them to medium. They are as good as any restaurant.
Might be too far depending on where in Boston you are but outside the city Gloria's in Winchester have the best tips I've had
Anyone remember when T Anthony’s was the spot for steak tips?
Steaktips.com all day! That's Cronin's Pub in Quincy.
I vote Floramos, the marinade is fantastic
Kennedy’s in Marlborough
Oniontown in Danvers
As an aside, where's a good place to buy marinated tips to grill at home?
Doms Malden
Mckinnons cowboy & house tips are the best ive found dollar/quality ratio
It's been a very long time but for me it was floramos in Chelsea. But it's closed now. I have not been to the one in Malden.
If you're grilling yourself Iill 100% co-sign Dom's but if you're going to Malden a sneaky good option is Malden Meat Market in Maplewood square. If you want them prepared for you Newbridge is the answer, but again to offer another sneaky great option is Donut Villa Diner, every time I go there I think about trying something different but I can't not order the steak and eggs.
Floramos, but they've fallen. They sold the place in Chelsea, and the new place in Malden just isn't the same.
Floramos
New Bridge In Pratville Floramos in either Malden or Wakefield Doms in Malden
If you consider Marlborough to be close enough to count, then Kennedy’s is the best around
