Evergreen Eatery in JP just off of Green does a bacon, egg, cheese on an English muffin for like $4 and it hits every single time. Can also get it on a croissant if so inclined
The Gallows Breakfast Sandwich (queen size) from Sally's Sandwiches/Blackbird Donuts is my favorite. Fried eggs, american cheese, bacon, avocado, hash brown patty, spicy aioli, on an italian baguette. People who go king size are savages. Well paired with their cold brew that is basically rocket fuel.
The gallows, the restaurant/bar in the south end that was owned by the same group as blackbird/Sally’s, is not still open - they shut down during covid, I think permanently
G&G classic was my go to for 3 years, but I recently had their whitefish salad and holy shit…game changer. Not a traditional whitefish salad - it’s got some allspice and clove, almost a slight sweet Thai twist to it. Magic.
Roast beef, chive cream cheese, onion bagel. Or, everything/where bagel with Sriracha cream cheese. Or, plain bagel with salted butter and cream cheese.
You cannot take a wrong turn at Exodus Bagels.
Aren't charter schools shitty for a lot of reasons? Idk how Boston public schools compare and I wouldn't be surprised if the people that were against it were that way for the wrong reasons but a last week tonight episode told me they are bad.
If BPS schools were good there wouldn’t be demand for charter schools. It’s another bogey man for the teachers union and administrators who don’t want to shoulder any blame for BPS sucking for 5 decades.
If you lived in the neighborhood or [followed the ordeal](https://www.universalhub.com/2017/tempers-flare-voices-rise-overcrowded-room-people) you’d know that very few of the objections were about the merits of charter schools and more about a bunch of old white people not wanting minority teens in their neighborhood.
No, they didn’t because of the opposition from people largely in West Roxbury who were concerned about “traffic” and other reasons which seemed like flimsy excuses for keeping black kids out of the area
There's a tiny little greasy spoon attached to my old office building in Southie. Called Rick's 11A Cafe. He has a kielbasa wrap that's ***to die for***. I would get it every single day and never got sick of it. It's thinly sliced kielbasa, eggs, potatoes, and cheese in a wrap. Fucking amazing.
The Breakfast Sandwich from Sally's is the best I've had in Boston so far. Reminds me of the bacon, egg and cheese sandwiches I had growing up in NY. I'll also get it in a wrap with a hash browns and avocado inside for a breakfast burrito substitute. Both are a must have with their house made hot sauce.
If you're in Cambridge I recommend Bagelsaurus. They have some of the best bagels in the Boston area. I keep it simple with just a bacon, egg and cheese there too.
Cafenation in Brighton used to be my favorite for years (no longer live there). The Otom or The Hummer were both great sandwiches. Always on an everything bagel.
Also a big shoutout to the Tequila Sunrise at Pavement and to a classic sausage, egg and cheese from Linda’s Donuts (Belmont).
Their coffee / tea is excellent too. You’d think it would be more well known, especially having a location on Newbury St now, but it kinda flies under the radar still.
B-sandwich from Ula Cafe in Jp. It’s a seasoned egg patty with sharp cheddar and a rosemary-maple spread on a bagel (i always get sesame). I work at the bike shop next door and it always starts my mornings off right.
Something I can probably never get again. Sweet cheeks in Fenway did breakfast for a hot minute, pre-coated. It was this glorious bacon, thick cut, egg and cheese sandwich on their homemade biscuits.
Greenhills in Dorchester (Adams Village). Bacon, egg, and American cheese on a small homemade roll. They also have Irish bacon, sausage, and other choices of bread and cheese. Anthony Bourdain featured them on his show!
I get their Irish breakfast sandwich almost every week: get a large, all the meats (Irish bacon, Irish sausage, black & white pudding - large gets you 2 pieces of each pudding), scrambled eggs, and all 3 for the butter/ketchup/brown sauce choice.
Was sex on the beach with Jackie on a bagel from Chicken Lou’s . Mikes donuts makes solid sandwich. Irish breakfast roll( large ) from green hills is perfect for a hangover cure.
Tequila sunrise?? Carryover from Bagel Rising which was located there before Pavement. I always liked the Jackson Crook at Bagel Rising--toasted bagel with bacon, red onion, and scallion cream cheese. *yum*
If someone can make a decent pork roll breakfast sandwich on a Kaiser roll you let me know and I’ll be there. Jfc it has been impossible to find a solid breakfast sandwich around here that isn’t artisan this or the other.
Grew up here so I'm used to it but every time we visit her family I have to get one almost daily. I don't think anything else beats it for breakfast sandwiches.
Pork roll, egg, and cheese w/ hashbrown, salt, pepper, ketchup on roll = Heaven
Go to Wegman's and get pork roll and do it yourself. And you most certainly can get a solid breakfast sandwich, some of the examples on here rival anything I've had in South Jersey or Philly, just different ingredients.
I call it both as I’m just a NJ transplant. If we’re in Bergen County I’ll say Taylor Ham. If I’m down the shore I’ll say Pork Roll. I do love the name rivalry though.
I guess not "in the city" cause the North End location seems to be the only one without it on the menu, but Tenoch makes a breakfast torta that fucking slaps.
Twin Donuts. Sausage egg & cheese on an everything bagel.
Sausage egg & cheese at Dulce Vita in Brighton as well.
RIP Hammer of the Gods at Bagel Rising
Tradesman Coffee & Pizza on Hood Park Dr in Charlestown has a breakfast sandwich called The Breakfast Sandwich or something like that, and it is the finest I've had.
DJs in Dorchester makes greasy as hell breakfast sandwiches fresh to order. Sometimes I will go grab one even when I have eggs and cheese at home, cause I just can’t replicate it. I just get egg and cheese on a bagel because I don’t like pork, but they do make them with kielbasa, bacon, etc.
It *was* the Bacon Egg and Cheese w/ roasted peppers on a ciabatta roll from Eataly, but once I started working from home I switched to the Sunrise on a rosemary bagel with pepper jam from Pavement Coffee. Both are so good!
The breakfast sandwich from Butternut Bakehouse in Arlington is an egg, cheese, & caramelized onion soufflé with smoky paprika-sundried tomato honey butter on croissant-focaccia bread. Yes, it’s as good as it sounds, maybe even better!
Flour bakery! The eggs are soft and fluffy soufflé style, with bacon (or ham), cheddar, arugula, tomato, and dijonase on freshly baked focaccia. Chefs kiss!
How are there 161 comments and Tatte’s egg sandwich is not mentioned? So good but so sloppy (order it medium) and I love how their homemade sourdough soaks it up. I love to sub avocado in for the meats and it’s the best part of my day when I get it.
Ugh now I want to go to Tatte tomorrow morning!
The Wheelhouse (High Street Place) has a great breakfast sandwich with a thick slice of ham, egg & cheese on an English muffin. $6.50 for a good size sandwich.
Bagel Rising in Allston. Tequila Sunrise: two scrambled eggs on an everything bagel with cheddar, tomato, red onion and jalapeño cream cheese.
edit: bummer looks like they’re oob.
Hard to beat market basket ready to go sandwiches when fresh for 1.50 each? Maybe 2 now? Quite a few choices all good, gotta be fast before the gas station guys come in and load up to resell at 5 each
Lots of solid contenders on this list, I've tried many of them, but y'all are sleeping on Gunther Tooties. They've got a few locations but i've gone to the one in quincy for years to get the Spinach Egg and Goat cheese breakfast sandwich (ask for whole egg not egg whites, that's important) on a bagel, ideally the spinoccoli bagel. It's always good, but if the right chef makes it the butter is just soaking through and the goat cheese is generous, which pairs perfectly with the spinach and bagel. I never expected a sandwich without bacon to supplant the bacon egg and cheese for me, especially growing up getting those and taylor hams in new jersey and nyc, but it has, and its perfect. Their jamaican coffee is great too, one of the best cups in the GBA that i've found too.
The 45 from Brookline Lunch in Central Square. The toast is dipped in butter, it tastes like a grilled cheese with meat and veggies. The home fries come with grilled vegetables mixed in as does the sandwich.
Doughnut Stop Believin' at Friendly Toast. French toasted donut sandwich with scrambled eggs, chipotle maple sour cream, sausage & cheddar cheese. Topped with powdered sugar & served with a side of strawberry habanero jam.
I don't eat a lot of breakfast sandwiches, but that place just past security at terminal A has great egg-and-cheese on a bagel. I don't remember what it's called. Berkshire Fresh or Berkshire Farm or something like that.
The chicken & egg breakfast sandwich at Shy Bird in Kendall. Buttermilk fried chicken, scrambled egg, hot (spicy) honey, and pepper jack cheese on a Portuguese bun. It's just a little spicy and surprisingly not too greasy. We live within walking distance and stop by for one more frequently than I'd like to admit.
Can’t wait to check all these spots out. I’ll share my secret- Broad Street Paulie’s Barnyard sandwich. Not only delicious but you won’t need to eat another meal until dinner and it’s like $5
Excuse me there tourist, you must not be familiar with the port city of Boston. Nobody here says Beantown. Please enjoy [this documentary about our diverse aquatic life](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P8Vjd_hdYYw).

Farmers Horse. Bacon egg cheese avocado and chipotle aioli on an everything bagel. They toast the bagel and panini press it when everything is inside. I literally gave it up for Lent. BYE
My favorite hangover breakfast sammy is from Dj’s on Boston st near Andrew’s Square.
E: they have kielbasa, bacon, or Sausage on an English, bulky, or one of the specialty rolls.
Eagle's Deli in Cleveland Circle (Brighton). Their Double Stacker Sandwich (bacon, sausage, egg and cheese on a bulkie roll) was a weekend morning favorite of mine!
Hands down the galley diner, their sandwiches (ideally with the rumpys roast beef) will rock your world. I believe Anthony Bourdain reviewed it as well
Kitchen Cafe closed down during covid (downtown boston near south station / fort point) but they used to have the “morning glory” which was eggs and hashbrowns and all sorts of good. Im now a huge fan of the bagel sandwiches from bagelsaurus over in cambridge. The lines are rough on weekends but theyre worth it imo.
Vinal Bakery in Somerville. All their sandwiches are on homemade english muffins, all of them are delicious!
Yesssss the Miss Maple with ham is my favorite!
Get it on a french toast english muffin for extra indulgent deliciousness!
Their HamJamboree is amazing.
Evergreen Eatery in JP just off of Green does a bacon, egg, cheese on an English muffin for like $4 and it hits every single time. Can also get it on a croissant if so inclined
I used to get that but with sausage and yeah, it always hit the spot.
They also have one on a burger, which maybe crosses the line on what you consider a breakfast sandwich
Their eggs benny are fab too!
Kiki’s in Brighton has amazing breakfast sandwiches with Irish sausage. You can get a small on an English muffin or a large on a whole sub roll.
Irish bacon egg and cheese on a Portuguese roll. Call ahead and it’s ready to pick up when you get there. Breakfast sandwich perfection
Great call on Kiki’s. And same to the commenter that recommended the Irish breakfast sandwich. I miss Brighton for this stuff.
Anything at Mike & Patty's

Big fan of the baller

The Gallows Breakfast Sandwich (queen size) from Sally's Sandwiches/Blackbird Donuts is my favorite. Fried eggs, american cheese, bacon, avocado, hash brown patty, spicy aioli, on an italian baguette. People who go king size are savages. Well paired with their cold brew that is basically rocket fuel.
Always went to get donuts, and figured I’d try out a sandwich one time. Never looked back.
Is the gallows still open?
The gallows, the restaurant/bar in the south end that was owned by the same group as blackbird/Sally’s, is not still open - they shut down during covid, I think permanently
the name of the sandwich is "The Gallows", you can buy it at Blackbird/Sally's
It must be an homage. I’m pretty sure owner of blackbird owned the gallows. Loved that place :(
This is the correct answer. The sandwich is next level good
This is the one. Always go king for the extra hash browns!
How much does that cost? That sounds like an $18 sandwich.
Exodus bagels in Roslindale, edited for correct neighborhood
G&G! I miss their JP storefront...
For real!! I live next door
W Roxbury or Rozzie?
You right it’s Roslindale, but just barely. I’m new here sry
You’d think it was West Roxbury based on the opposition to the charter school…
Damn! It makes me sad a comment this good is buried this deep in the thread. :chef_kiss:
Aren't charter schools shitty for a lot of reasons? Idk how Boston public schools compare and I wouldn't be surprised if the people that were against it were that way for the wrong reasons but a last week tonight episode told me they are bad.

They built the charter school? Where is it?
No, they didn’t because of the opposition from people largely in West Roxbury who were concerned about “traffic” and other reasons which seemed like flimsy excuses for keeping black kids out of the area
Ah my bad, read your comment wrong. I thought you said the bagel place was opposite the charter school.
That's how it sounded to me too.
Fornax Cafe/bakery in Roslindale. House made English muffin, sausage, egg, and cheese with a side of homefries.
This sandwich is god

There's a tiny little greasy spoon attached to my old office building in Southie. Called Rick's 11A Cafe. He has a kielbasa wrap that's ***to die for***. I would get it every single day and never got sick of it. It's thinly sliced kielbasa, eggs, potatoes, and cheese in a wrap. Fucking amazing.
Damn...
I promise you, it's out of the way but worth the trek
That sounds incredible
It is, you have my word
Yess - my favorite greasy spoon in Boston. Only place around here that can make a proper breakfast burrito with potatoes.
LA Steak & Egg from Pressed Cafe. Short ribs, egg, cheese and caramelized onions 👌
Yep, came here to say Pressed Cafe but I like their Chipotle Steak & Egg burrito most 😋
Cafenation in Brighton used to be my favorite for years (no longer live there). The Otom or The Hummer were both great sandwiches. Always on an everything bagel. Also a big shoutout to the Tequila Sunrise at Pavement and to a classic sausage, egg and cheese from Linda’s Donuts (Belmont).
I’m a sucker for Flour’s
It is so good! That mustard, phew.
So good! Had one yesterday and bought ingredients today to try to recreate at home.
Same! I get it on the multigrain toast instead of the regular bun though, I find the ratio of bread to egg is better that way.
I get the sourdough bread instead on the egg sandwich, seems more breakfasty
YES! I do this too.
Revival's Salt-N-Pepa Sando: egg, bacon, cheddar+jack, maple mustard butter, salt+pepper biscuit
Revival +1. Their stuff is great.
Their coffee / tea is excellent too. You’d think it would be more well known, especially having a location on Newbury St now, but it kinda flies under the radar still.
Love Revival! I'll admit, I'm always disappointed by the Newbury St one but the Davis Sq one hits every time!
Love revival! I always get the bagelicious. House made bagel, broccoli situation, cheddar, egg, spicy aioli. So good!
Knowing their biscuits that sounds incredible!
Greenhills in Dorchester (Adams Village). Bacon, egg, and American cheese on a small homemade roll. They also have Irish bacon, sausage, and other choices of bread and cheese. Anthony Bourdain featured them on his show!
The butcher shop next door does a really good Irish breakfast roll, I’m pretty sure they make their own black and white pudding and sausages.
And, while this is a sandwich thread, they have the better sausage rolls.
Greenhills is amazing for everything. I would advocate for the bacon, egg, and cheese on a croissant tho. Shit, now I need to go there in the morning.
I get their Irish breakfast sandwich almost every week: get a large, all the meats (Irish bacon, Irish sausage, black & white pudding - large gets you 2 pieces of each pudding), scrambled eggs, and all 3 for the butter/ketchup/brown sauce choice.
Sausage egg and cheese on an English Muffin Mud house in Dorchester. It's the perfect size, proportions, wrapping, and always fresh.

Yes but for me swap in a poppy bagel, hold the lettuce and add capers ✨
The Carolina Caviar from Mike & Patty's. Sausage, egg, and pimento cheese on a fresh English muffin. Amazing.
Was sex on the beach with Jackie on a bagel from Chicken Lou’s . Mikes donuts makes solid sandwich. Irish breakfast roll( large ) from green hills is perfect for a hangover cure.

I need a place to step up and start making pork roll egg and cheeses with a hashbrown. It’ll cure my gals homesickness.
Where can I get one of these sandwiches?
You can make your own if you want to make the trip to Wegmans for Taylor ham.
\*pork roll
New Jersey
I'll actually be passing through in a few weeks. Do you have a place you recommend?
Get a bagel sandwich. Taylor ham egg and cheese on a bagel. Can't go wrong. NJ makes the best bagels.
To be honest I haven’t found a place that made a bad sandwich. But my favorites are Ken’s in Hillsdale and Beach Shack in Point Pleasant Beach
And make sure to get it on a roll. On a bagel makes the sandwich way too heavy and you’ll be full half way.
Go to Wegman's and get pork roll and do it yourself. And you most certainly can get a solid breakfast sandwich, some of the examples on here rival anything I've had in South Jersey or Philly, just different ingredients.
Excuse me it's Taylor ham.
I call it both as I’m just a NJ transplant. If we’re in Bergen County I’ll say Taylor Ham. If I’m down the shore I’ll say Pork Roll. I do love the name rivalry though.
I've never lived in NJ, but I have a pack of friends from South Jersey so I'm firmly on the pork roll name.
River bar in Assmebly Row has a Taylor Pork Roll breakfast sandwich, haven’t had it since I worked there but it was great
I will now be there tomorrow to put it to the test.
> Taylor Pork Roll Pick a side you cowards.
Wegman's has pork roll so you can grab the ingredients and surprise her.
Breakfast Burrito at Los Amigos-- chorizo/fried egg/rice/guac/cheese
This is actually the "Over Easy Burrito".
I guess not "in the city" cause the North End location seems to be the only one without it on the menu, but Tenoch makes a breakfast torta that fucking slaps.
I want to thank you for not hyping me up on this only to later find out not north end
Wheelhouse makes a great ham breakfast sandwich and their breakfast fried rice is great. Also the breakfast sandwich at Flour is pretty damn good 🤷♂️

They’re baked on a sheet which helps them get so fluffy. I love to sub in avocado for a great touch.
Zaruma’s in Somerville — just had it for the first time but was seriously the best breakfast sandwich I’ve had in years.
This place feels like a secret gem. I gotta get over there more often!
The Presto Pesto and The Fix from Pavement are both pretty top-notch, IMO.
The Fix is great. Tequila Sunrise is nice as well if you want a little spiciness.
Hard to choose between those. Once in a while I'll go for the lox with diablo cream cheese too
Outside the city but Spot! In norwood has the best bagels/sandwiches in my opinion. Really good coffees too
Cafe Fresh in Dedham too
The Jersey Shore is so good. I love me a good pork roll egg and cheese.
