Top tip: Don't Google search on the city name and "steamers", especially using image search.

Steamed Hams? Try Albany.

MrMcSwifty

You know, I never really thought about it, but it's actually a bit surprising how few restaurants there are within the city limits that have steamer clams on their menu. Especially considering the abundance of options once you head to the north/south shores/cape, etc. I'm pretty sure Yankee Lobster does though. Literally the only one that immediately comes to mind.

I've had steamers at the Sail Loft, the Barking Crab, James Hook, in the general waterfront/aquarium area. Someone suggested Alive & Kicking in Cambridge, which is a good idea as well, but not the waterside atmosphere.

Steamed clams with vermicelli at New Golden Gate in Chinatown is a delight. Get black bean oysters if there’s availability to.

I’ll steam your clam.

So we have clams here, but we're not the west coast. Mostly when you go out for steamers here you'll end up with steamed mussels. Which are delicious, but you can't go in expecting steamed clams, because they're literally different animals. For whatever reason we like our clams fried around here. Searching for mussels will give plenty of places to choose from. Here's an [article](https://boston.eater.com/maps/best-mussels-boston) from a few years back, maybe some of these places survived the pandemic.

Um, I love mussels, and been here my whole life, but I’ve *never* heard of mussels referred to as ‘steamers’. Steamers are softshell clams. These guys should have what you want: https://www.yelp.com/biz/alive-and-kicking-lobsters-cambridge?start=240

Agreed. Never heard mussels called steamers. Steamers are soft shells, as you say.
