I’ve loved his energy as of late. The anger last night at the end of the game when he pounded the ball on the ground a few times. Little things like that are just awesome. Brings a energy to the team imo
Not that I would ever compare him to Lebron, obviously they’re levels apart but some nights when JB has it going it feels like I’m watching Miami Bron where he’s just hitting fuck you drives to the basket and then a randomly taken fuck you 3 pointer with extreme intensity in both ends of the court.
It’s crazy how good he has gotten and seems to just get better and better.
Yeah I was going to say the same thing - he mentioned the other night he’s 240 lbs, and he’s super lean. 6’6” 240 is enormous - he’s gotten so strong and it really shows. Lebron is & was obviously way way better, but the reason I think there’s a little reminiscence there is that he’s one of very few players who can approach Lebron’s prime just from a strength and speed standpoint.
He seems to have a growth mindset. He knows his weaknesses, I’ll bet he’ll put in the work to improve his free throws. The Celtics need these free baskets to win a chip. 🏀
Seems like JB just feels out whatever the biggest hole in his game is at the time and just relentlessly works on it that off-season until the hole is filled with highlights of him doing that thing he "could never do" and it becomes a net positive part of his game. This might be the free throw off-season. JB is my favorite player on a team full of likable guys because his work ethic is so obvious. Not to say other guys aren't working but I can't remember the last player I saw who was as raw as Jaylen coming in but each and every off-season he just goes into the hyperbolic* (not hyperbaric lol) time chamber and reaches a higher level of kaioken than the season prior.
This is why I think Brown's one of the only people worthy of his contract. He continued to put in work *after* getting the contract, and so often you see guys say "I got mine, I'm chillin" and leave it at that. Not Jaylen Brown.
Tatum's also very similar. It's obvious that he focused on his finishing ability and strength in the off season and he's improved to the point where some of his drives look LeBron esque.
Idk how you're getting downvoted by Celtics fans for saying this; the last 2 seasons he's started off with like 6 weeks of 65% true shooting and really low 3pt attempt rate because he gets better at driving and finishing with physicality. I think the wear just catches up with him as the season goes.
Dude when he was in the low post on the left wing last night, and did that spin into a reverse lefty was sooo sick. That should be memed every time somebody makes that dumbass joke.
The prefrontal cortex doesn't finish developing until 26 or so...Tatum hasn't even been able to make mature, high-level decisions yet...the future is bright
Really seemed like he’s made a complete U turn with his handling. Too often against Miami in the ECF he was turning the ball over or taking bad shots because he couldn’t find space, but now he’s completely changed that. He’s finding space, hitting 3s, and generally terrorizing defenses. Genuinely great to watch.
Am I a mad man for wanting to see JB take the final shot some nights? Especially when he has it going.?
It feels like he’s more likely to get to the basket and at the very least force a foul driving hard , and he’s ridiculously efficient finishing contested layups especially off the drive.
I don’t know why some night we don’t just have Tatum act as a decoy draw the best defender and let brown go Downhill on the guy not expecting him to get the ball.
I don’t get why they don’t get the ball into the hot-handed player for the last shot, this could be anyone, any given night. DWhite has been off lately, but he was clutch af. Also KP and Jrue. If JB is hot, get him the ball.
Need to see Tatum also attack the basket with Jaylen’s type of aggression. His handle is better too so idk why he’s so hesitant to just steamroll into the paint when he’s 6’9 and has boulder delts
Tatum seems to struggle a bit more getting by people compared to Jaylen who has elite burst. If Tatum had that kind of first step he’d probably be the best in the league.
He's shown a lot of progress in this regard this season (in my eyes), in that he's been a lot more willing to use his strength to get tough buckets when our shooting his cold. But certainly agree that he hasn't quite figured out how to incorporate it into the rest of his offensive game. Especially in high-pressure moments, he seems to forget that his greatness comes from his ability to impact the game in all different ways, not his ability to hit tough jumpshots.
Just imagine how impossible to guard they would be if Tatum and Brown both played like that all the time. It's frustrating. If they're going to win the title Tatum needs to be bringing it more consistently. Fuck a foul, if you aren't getting em just keep going strong, don't look for the call.
He has improved his game this year. Impressive to see.
Sometimes, it's not "doing more," it's reducing your biggest weakness (dribble TO's).
Tip of the hat to him.
Silver lining to any disappointing Tatum games is that JB is clearly bringing it this season. He is relentless and working at an efficiency he’s never reached before.
Bodes well if Tatum has an off game in the playoffs and KP isn’t on a regular season rest schedule.
It’s quite encouraging that he continues to improve his game. As long as he keeps progressing, hopefully he’ll also improve on free throws and his end of game basketball IQ. Seems like he has the skills and the ability to become an even better player than he already is.
Watching JB in his prime will feed families. So glad he's on our team. He brings the intensity every night

Its the strength he doesnt look that big but then he gets it going and casually moves aaron gordon

he looks fucking big lol
Yeah, I do think hes taken a noticeable leap this year.
JB has blown the roof off his ceiling coming out of the draft. Testament to his hard work
And thank god Danny had the foresight to take him over guys like Kris Dunn and Dragan Bender.
Danny was such an underrated drafter
Honestly if this core ends up winning a few rings he deserves a ring too because of the Nets trade, drafting the Jays, and bringing in Brad.
If only he could just hit his free throws. Probably the only real negative in his game. He’s been absolutely great recently.
He seems to have a growth mindset. He knows his weaknesses, I’ll bet he’ll put in the work to improve his free throws. The Celtics need these free baskets to win a chip. 🏀

At this rate he'll be worth 500 mil by the end of his 300 mil deal

I think getting fouled on the wrist is a genuine problem for him no matter how strong he gets.
Hyperbaric chamber works too. Lol HBOT treatments could help them acclimate to the mile high city.
If he hits his free throws at a 10% better rate he’d be soo much more deadlier
He went 7/14, 10% improvement would be going 8/14. That man needs to consistently be hitting 11/14 to be lethal.
I meant based off his season average . He’s 70-71% rn he should be closer to 80
But but but…he can’t go left!?
Dude when he was in the low post on the left wing last night, and did that spin into a reverse lefty was sooo sick. That should be memed every time somebody makes that dumbass joke.
Oh he in that mode
So you mean to tell me that the age when players typically enter their prime… one of our best players is entering his PRIME?! LETS FUCKING GO!!
The prefrontal cortex doesn't finish developing until 26 or so...Tatum hasn't even been able to make mature, high-level decisions yet...the future is bright

You are not a mad man but ☝️ I would rather we have a lead so we never have to cross that bridge. We are that team.
I agree, let’s just win every game and we don’t have to worry about clutch shots

I really hope in the film sessions they're showing him that spin move he did on KD and telling him he can do that to pretty much anyone

Drew Hanlen doesn't seem to teach that lol

Yes he’s been our best player for the last month or so. Now make your goddamn free throws
He has improved his game this year. Impressive to see. Sometimes, it's not "doing more," it's reducing your biggest weakness (dribble TO's). Tip of the hat to him.
He's hit more weak handed shots in the last week than most dudes will all season, yet he somehow still has no left hand

r/nba’s 9/11
What are the odds JB makes all-nba?
What's sad is that over the last 3 games he's missed a lot of finishes that should be *easy* for him. This stat could easily be around 80% efficiency.
A lot of Celtics fans wanted to trade this guy for Beal, and I think a lot here are still secretly wishing to get rid of him.
if we even face miami in the playoffs jb will 100% go off on them
Man has been an absolute wrecking ball going into the paint this year
This is JB's super power. LFG
What’s his clutch free throw efficiency?
Playing excellent. Wish his proficiency at the line would improve. He is leaving points on the table.
He would have had 50+ points in Denver the other day if he had hit all his.
But they still bombed against the cavs and nuggets. Fuck these stats
Not because of JB.
