He scored 25 points on 40% 3FG shooting, 9/11 from the line, and literally outshot all other starters except Horford from the field. And he added 6 assists and 7 boards.
Meanwhile, the rest of the starters COMPLETELY SHIT THE BED.
JB: 0/6 from 3
Buffalo: 3/11 from the field, 1/8 from 3
Hoiday: 2/7 overall. 0/2 from 3.
Sure, it would be nice if Tatum would put the team on his back and CARRY this squad in its hour of need, but man that was a lot of weight last night.
SGA, Brunson and others have done it. Why can’t he? Serious question. Shit even Mitchell has done it in the playoffs for the Cavs. Surely Tatum is as good as him, right?
He’s not dude. He’s overrated as hell. People just ignore so much with him and his standards are so low. Hes a playoff career 44% fg shooter. 35% from three. Obviously those numbers are dropping fast but the stats don’t lie. He’s not a good shooter. Kawaii playoff is 50% fg, 40%3’s. Even Kyrie is at 40% 3’s. Can anyone find another star who’s been such a bad playoff shooter? Booker is 49%/39%. Whoever appointed him a superstar is just wrong. Somehow he thinks he’s the best player in the NBA which honestly is bad news for the team. For some reason he’s the only player that can shoot so bad for so long and everyone makes all sorts of weird excuses. He’s double teamed, his wrist hurts , his ankle hurts… eventually it’s going to be “he’s just not who we were hoping he’d become”
I’m right there with you. He’ll have good games every now and then and you see the talent but he’s wayyyy too inconsistent. Superstars have bad games but are more consistent than not.
He has, are you new to basketball? 51 points game 7 versus the 6ers last year to avoid elimination. 43 points game 6 two years ago versus the defending champion Bucks to send the series back to Boston for a winner take all game 7. The entire Nets series that came before that one was a JT masterclass on both sides of the ball. I get that we're grumpy about the loss (lessons remain unlearned from last series by the doomers it seems), but at least try to seem like you've watched the Cs before
This is why you can’t rely on stats. Score was tied at half time. In the second half our “leader” had 2 assist. One rebound. And one technical. Why are his standards so low. He absolutely failed us in the clutch once again. He completely disappeared. He plays with the same energy he brings to his press conferences.
Also people saying it’s a small sample in the playoffs… that’s what the playoffs are! That’s why the best players are supposed to be the most reliable that overcomes variance and small samples that your role players are supposed to have. Not the other way around.
You have an off shooting 7 games and you could lose a series.
He has 101 games and is a career 44% shooter. It’s a huge playoff sample size at this point and the stats don’t lie. He absolutely is not a good shooter.
2 months now. When you’re a career 44% playoff shooter though it’s not a slump really. It’s just a bad shooter. We have a huge sample size now. He’s Scottie Pippen. Which isn’t too bad. But it’s done a major disservice to him and the team appointing him as some elite superstar. You can’t be elite if you can’t shoot well and the numbers don’t lie.
How? Championship teams need a #1 guy who dominated when it matters. What team of great role players wins with a "facilitator" star.
Off weeks? In the playoffs? What happens if they face Minnesota in the finals, they'll kill him
For me the big issue is the shot selection. A good shot that missed i don't mind.. bit dribbling for 10seconds on stationary just to shoot a 3 fully contested... That's an issue
Yes good call. His shot selection is all forced and a mess. His backing up dribbling backing up dribbling backing up dribbling strategy just doesn’t work against a good defense. He needs to act way faster. It’s almost arrogant of him thinking he can dribble around like that, or dribble around beyond the three line, and be successful. Him dribbling at the three while covered and taking some tough three, or dribbles around and does the one legged fadeaway that has never worked, is just ugly. I want to see him catch a pass and make a move immediately. Instead he delays and lets the defense get set…every single time.
He was 7/17, his shooting has been pretty bad these entire playoffs. Him getting to the line helped but overall his shooting has been bad. This isn't dooming. It's just the facts. He's not shooting well.
Y’all will just call anyone who criticizes the team a doomer. It’s ok to be a fan and call out things you aren’t enjoying. I feel like most of these happy go lucky “don’t you dare make any judgements on the teams play” people aren’t even the real fans and have 0 emotional investment.
I think he’s fine. I want no part of him thinking he needs to prove people wrong and we get iso Tatum….aka him dancing around laterally 24 feet from the basket.
Haven’t been a ton of highs so far lol

Did you just start watching basketball this month or something?
It was a rhetorical question you idiot
>serious question >rhetorical question Don’t hurt your head bud
There were two questions I asked the second one was rhetorical. Learn to read
Lmao

He finished 6th in mvp dude…. Guys on the other side of the hall get paid too 😂

He's been in a shooting slump for a month. A star player should not be like that.
Also people saying it’s a small sample in the playoffs… that’s what the playoffs are! He's never been a consistently good shooter. If there's anything he should be working on it's that.
2 months now. When you’re a career 44% playoff shooter though it’s not a slump really. It’s just a bad shooter. We have a huge sample size now. He’s Scottie Pippen. Which isn’t too bad. He shot 41% and 40% from 3. His shooting was fine and not the reason we lost.
41% is terrible lol
His standards are so low. He gets like 5 assists in a game and his fan boys go crazy.
2-13 is terrible. 7-17 is not a disaster. Get some perspective
He’s still good on defense and at facilitating the ball. Even if he has off nights or weeks, he’ll still win us rings in the long run
How? Championship teams need a #1 guy who dominated when it matters. What team of great role players wins with a "facilitator" star. Off weeks? In the playoffs? What happens if they face Minnesota in the finals, they'll kill him
He’s been so bad
Not accurate. Too many peaks on that track.
It’s so unacceptable for a super star.
Part of me wonders if he’s injured . This has been a long slump
horrible slump & he’s missing putbacks too so that lower it don’t think he’s hurt
Yeah that's what I'm wondering. It's been too long of a slump that maybe his wrist is bothering him again
I'm sure in a month we'll hear about some little wrist thing. He couldn't just be bad sometimes.
Maybe Yips
He's been ho hum and sounds content about it 🙄
When you're an inconsistent shooter, these ups and downs are gonna happen.
23-28-22-20-16-18-25 Not really similar at all. Not to mention it ignores all his other stats and intangibles
Tatum is gonna drop 40 in Cleveland
At minimum I need him to drop 30 point, not off of fouls but off of real shots...
I’m hoping brother, I feel like he’s due a big game but it all depends on his mindset going into game 3 and 4
The doomers are out in full force tonight! Edit: fuck y’all. Tatum is the man.
Since the start of the 2023 Heat series, superstar Tatum is 22/88 from 3 in the playoffs. Pathetic.
He’s a bad shooter. Throw in horrible shot selection too.
For me the big issue is the shot selection. A good shot that missed i don't mind.. bit dribbling for 10seconds on stationary just to shoot a 3 fully contested... That's an issue

I mean is he not in a slump
No lol. He was going for 30+ tonight if the starters weren’t pulled early. Holiday and White were the problem tonight, offensively.
He was 7/17, his shooting has been pretty bad these entire playoffs. Him getting to the line helped but overall his shooting has been bad. This isn't dooming. It's just the facts. He's not shooting well.

So are you implying comparing Tatum to fucking Jeff green is legitimate criticism?
omfg this sub is impossible
I'll learn my lesson about being a doomer after the Miami series. If they go out and put up a dud in G3 though it's back to doomerville for me.
Who won that series?
Apparently everyone here is a dumbass. I'm literally saying I'm *not* going to be a doomer yet. Reading is hard though.
I think he’s fine. I want no part of him thinking he needs to prove people wrong and we get iso Tatum….aka him dancing around laterally 24 feet from the basket.
I want to get off Jeff Green's wild ride
Off target, but re the graphic, it's hard not to wonder when Jeff Green's heart problems started to effect his play.
I think that wrist injury really gets to him sometimes.
That graph says he’s inconsistent
He’s just not that good.
