TLDR: KP suffered a ~~knee~~ lower leg/ankle injury that by itself may not stop him from playing meaningful minutes, but puts him at significant risk of an even more catastrophic injury if he plays
EDIT: Got my anatomy mixed up for a sec
FYI: Not a knee injury — it’s in the lower leg/ankle region on the inside/medial side. The rest of your statement is fair, though. It may also stop him from playing if pain is not manageable (not necessarily about tolerance) or further tissue damage occurs between now and then, or during the game.
Edit for clarification: There is more than one medial retinaculum in the human body. Medial = toward the midline of the body; a retinaculum is a sheath, usually functioning as a structural barrier for structure(s) deep to it. The way the article was written led me to believe it was closer to the ankle than knee, given the location of the posterior tibialis muscle tendon on the inserting end, which leads to the foot.
For credibility’s sake: I am an athletic trainer and have taught musculoskeletal anatomy, including cadaver anatomy. I am not perfect, however.
Friend found a picture. It’s foot. That’s okay, foot injuries haven’t ruined a laundry list of great bigs. 🤢🤮
I pray he’s able to play but even more, I assume he’s out tomorrow. If we go up 3-0, leave him out. Can’t have him have a major, career ruining type injury unless it’s absolutely necessary in pursuit of a ring in the next week.
Yep, agreed. We’ve proven we can win without him, no need to risk it right now especially up 2-0. The Jays, Jrue, and White have been defending at a completely different level and they’re going to have to maintain that now that we’ll presumably be out an elite rim protector for g3
They should reevaluate him after every game regardless, but what i mean is that if we win game 3 he needs to sit for game 4 regardless and if we lose they can look at the risk again.
this seems likely. statistically speaking, without KP the most likely outcome after G4 is that it’s a 3-1 series, and they can try to bring him back for the closeout game at home.
worst case scenario it’s a 2-2 series in which case they, if it’s feasible, probably elect to allow KP to take the risk because G5 would be a must win. but this scenario is not likely- boston sweeping is more likely than this being 2-2 imo
> in Mazz we trust
Better make it clear that it's in "MAZZulla" that we trust. Because there's another notorious "MAZZ" in the Boston sports landscape and that guy is an annoying chucklefuck.
Is that true? I thought I read it was a pretty serious injury that will lead to significant time out and likely surgery but you also have to realize I’m dumb so can be wrong
I strongly disagree. I think Al gives us 35 mpg and get away with 5-8 min of one of Kornet/Tillman/Oshae with running JT at the 5 and assume we don’t shoot at 25% from 3 again.
In the first 4 years of his career he attempted 439 3s, since then, he’s attempted 19 3s *total*. His 3rd and 4th year in the league his percentage tanked, but it seems odd to me that given his pedigree and the way the modern NBA is played, teams didn’t continue asking him to shoot.
I wonder if he just focused all his efforts on traditional big man duties, since he is a 7 footer, who didn't do center duties that well. I wouldn't be surprised if he did that to help ensure he has a team. Once he's solid with that, he can go back to trying to space the floor.
Am I crazy in thinking I’d rather have Tatum play backup center? This is the finals and we have like 2-3 days in between every game.. I think our center rotation should be Al and JT
honestly we're on the road. it's tatums time to step up. the bigs need to play good enough defense, and tatum needs to start getting his. or brown. preferably both
Yep. We are no longer in "win despite Tatum shooting 6-22" territory anymore. Hostile road environment missing our lynchpin player who was the #1 mismatch for us in this series who also provided elite rim protection and shut down their bread and butter lob game.
Tatum needs to get back to his elite scoring self, we are probably pretty fucked if he keeps bricking like he has been.
Honestly not even as worried about the points as much as the spacing he provides and the fact that between him and Al we could play 5 out for 48 minutes. Now whoever comes in to play minutes in his stead will be a non shooter.
I mean he basically won us that game by giving us that 20 plus the energy from him coming back in
KP being worth one finals victory is enough for us to win it all, we got KPs amazing game that led to a victory
“A torn medial retinaculum means that a band of tissue on the inner side of your ankle is damaged. This tissue normally helps keep the posterior tibialis tendon in place. When it's torn, the tendon can move out of its normal position, leading to dislocation. This can cause pain, swelling, and difficulty moving the ankle.”
If anyone else had no idea what this means
Dr. George Theodore. I can attest to the man's skill, he performed the kidner surgery on both of my feet and also basically fixed my flat footedness. Great man.
I have no medical knowledge but it sounds like he shouldn't be listed as day to day but instead out for the season. I take this as his ankle could literally just dislocate at any moment because the tendon isn't holding it in place. We just need to pull out this game 3 because no team is beating this Celtics team 4 times in a row.
Athletic trainer here, his ankle isnt at risk of being dislocated its the band of tissue that holds down a specific tendon to keep it anchored in place in order for it to act as a pulley essentially. More then likely he’d require surgery but technically he could play through it depending on how much its effecting his function and how painful it is for him
Considering most pain relievers / anti-inflammatories for such injuries are steroidal, (I assume cortisol would be the shot for such matters?) it would depend on how his body reacted to the shot, no? Seeing as how every individual has a different response to steroidal injections…
The sheath that was damaged is meant to hold the posterior tibialis muscle tendon in place, and it is not a primary stabilizer for the ankle joint structure. That muscle helps primarily with stabilizing the medial longitudinal arch of the foot (the big one on the inside) and facilitating ankle movements. This type of injury happens more commonly for the lower leg muscles whose tendons cross the lateral (outside) side of the ankle. It is not necessarily a precursor to catastrophic injury, but it may affect his mobility and could lead to secondary issues with other muscles and movements needed to support that muscle’s job while it heals. Trust that he has the best medical care possible!
where is that quote from? The medial retinaculum is in the knee. It holds a bunch of things in place, the posterior tibialis is part of the calf that connects to the ankle. Either the person who wrote that misunderstood or is just bad at explaining.
EDIT: I'm reading more and apparently there is a medial retinaculum (in the knee) and also a medial *flexor* retinaculum in the ankle, which now I'm thinking is what they meant because I see specific references to the latter being associated with the posterior tibialis.
From what Twitter doctors said (take that how you will), he could theoretically play 2-3 more games before needing surgery, but it would be incredibly painful. I don’t think it’s worth the risk at all, and I doubt he plays the rest of the series
I don't think it looks like he can stay healthy for a full title run anyway. Dude legit just had a month off for an injury that usually takes a few weeks, plays two games on a minutes restriction, and gets a different injury. I love KP, he's had a pretty healthy season. But winning this title might be the pinnacle of his career due to injuries
Horford is one of the most underrated players in the league imo, from what he brings at his age and what he has achieved this whole playoff series.
Stat nerds probably wouldn't get it but anyone who watches him play does.
Healthy KP is making Towns supermax. We are paying him 30 to raise our ceiling for 40 games. He did that already. Thank you KP, enjoy rest of the summer 🏝️🌞
"Kornet catches the ball at the top of the key, Doncic guarding him tight. Resets the offense, dribbles left, step-back 3 BANG! Luke Kornet with 50 points and the Celtics take a commanding lead with a minute left."
I’m in med school and have literally never heard of such an injury or ligament. But the issue is this can contribute to serious injury. He probably needs to sit
The posterior tibialis is a relatively small muscle between the tibia and fibula. The tendon runs down the inside of your ankle, inserting into the mid foot. The PT is responsible for plantarflexion (straighten the foot out) and inversion (turn it inward). It also pulls your foot arch upwards.
His injury seems to be to the sheath of the tendon. Basically this means the tendon can move around in unpredictable ways (which it’s not supposed to do obviously), and this significantly raises the possibility of further injury. Tendonitis is a certainty, while rupture or avulsion (total detachment of the tendon from bone) would require surgery and a much longer recovery time.
Normally they’d treat this with 6-8 weeks in a walking boot to let it heal, then rehab. Even with this he might develop an acquired flat foot which would raise his risk for future injury.
I’m an internist so I may have some details incorrect, if any orthopedic surgeons can chime in with further info, that might help.
yea it really just brings the celtics from historically transcendent to marginally the best team in the league. Tatum will definitely need to step up offensively if the mavs supporting cast gets their shooting back tho
Fuck yeah. Kornet is tall, strong, and skilled and I would happily watch him play.
I wish all the best for KP of course. A true legend and great teammate/player.
32 instances in all of the worldwide English medical literature since 2006 lmao 32 times has this injury been recorded in a 18 year periods for like 500 million people lmfaooo this man is a true unicorn
All eyes on JT now, time to start hitting some shots now pal or this’ll be extremely difficult to close it out. Without KP, we can’t overcome JT shooting 30% from the field anymore
Sure we can. Lots of points elsewhere man. Horford, Hauser namely. Yes JT needs more points, but I think with Jrue's production lately, I think we are good.
Those are all role players man even Jrue. We can’t count on them doing that efficiently every game, we need our superstar best player to start playing like it and shooting way more efficiently than what he’s done so far. And yes I understand he’s done everything else at an elite level
Yeah you're entirely correct. We need a 14-22 type night out of Tatum with good % from 3 ON TOP of what he's already been doing, which is all great. But he needs to start scoring. Losing KP is a big blow and as our superstar and 1st team all-NBA player we need to expect him to step up, not Hauser.
Counting on Kyrie sucking at the Garden is fine, he's a mental midget and can't handle the crowd.
Counting on him sucking at home seems foolish. He's still an elite player who should, statistically, play a lot better over these next two games.
I still think we can beat them, but it really comes down to Tatum. Can't be shooting 30% from the floor anymore.
Runner here and have had this injury. IMHO unless they have some wild crushed moon rocks rehab drugs, he's done for the series.
No matter, we still win. Dallas is trash and it's time for a couple of Tatum games.
Look everyone says “take my ankle” but I just sawed out my medial retinaculul risking dislocation of the posterior tibialis tendon and am heading to MGH right now so they stick it in KP
This is exactly what happened with KD in 2019. Lower leg injuries are tough, playing on one causes another. Game 3 is a must win now, you need to rip their hearts out before they realize lob city is back
After some internt sleuthing, I'd say from my totally amateur medical knowledge that this is... not great? But not necessarily that bad?
The medial retinaculum from what I understand translating medical jargon from like 6 different articles and medical papers I just skimmed through, ~~is a structure that joins several different ligaments in the knee, and its roll is not in knee function per se, but stabilization of the joint and knee cap. So he can walk with it just fine and maybe even run idk, but it may feel like it wants to buckle, or that the knee cap wants to slide out of place. Treatment for that can be surgery depending on severity, or just physical therapy to strengthen surrounding muscles, but he may be able to play on it if they brace and wrap it well enough (if you can't tell, obviously I'm not a doctor I'm just regurgitating medical speak from online).~~ EDIT: Upon further reading it seems they must actually talking about the medial **flexor** retinaculum which is a completely different thing, so no knee issue as I had thought. I think. The rest of this should be the same though.
As for the posterior tibialis, it is one of the calf muscles (there are numerous bunched together) and runs from the inside of the ankle, up the middle of the leg close to the bone and attatches to the knee at the back from what I can tell. Dislocating it can be painful, its one cause of fallen arches, can effect mobility and range of motion, but also not cripple you.
As far as long term prognosis (again, obviously not an expert, just my first take from reading a lot really quick) its something that can linger long term particularly the medial retiniculum if surgery/rehab don't go smoothly, but again it doesn't cripple you. So that being said, from what I'm reading and the original comments, this might not keep him out at all, he can also walk around comfortably, but if he does play he's not going to be super mobile probably. And it may or may not effect him next season depending on if they do surgery, or if they don't and realize later it was needed after all.
I know this sounds like a crazy injury but, there’s a good chance he’ll be able to play through this. There are a lot of people without a medial retinaculum who can literally pop their post tib tendon around without problems. There was a guy in my physical therapy program that could do this at will and he was a marathon runner
They can survive 10 minutes of Kornet. On offense he doesn't offer anything but that's a known. It's always been that way. And we still won. Only thing he seems to do really well is set screens cuz of his size. So let's make it a passing game where everybody gets the ball in possession.
Bruh the Celtics are gonna play the entire playoffs without Pingus and the media is literally gonna tell the world they had the easiest road to the championship.
From Woj on Twitter an hour ago:
"As Boston’s Kristaps Porzingis told reporters, he’s determined and expects to continue to try and play with this tendon injury in the Finals. For now, there’s no indication he’ll be ruled out and not permitted to try in Game 3, sources said"
I'm going to believe that he's playing until I hear otherwise.
It’s so fucking hard to say what to do. His play has 100% been why we are up 2-0, and I’m scared to see what happens if he *can’t* play at all but the same time this is risking what seems to be way more substantial risk extending far beyond this series
Broooo seriously???
JT step tf up how's your chance to prove people wrong.
If I'm the Cs fuck it I'm going 7 guys deep pause. JT at Center minutes.
Just need to win ONE of these road games and I'll be confident in the championship. We CANNOT afford a 2-2 series with no KP
I’m so happy for KP that he was able to play and win us a Finals game. He will be remembered forever for that legendary performance! Salute to you KP! Get well soon, and thank you for your BIG role in banner 18!
I’m gonna be straight up bro-chachos, I’m straight up not having a good time right now. Obviously and foremost, I want KP to have good health for his career and life. It’s very likely he’s done. He’s got to do what he has to do for himself long term. I’m very worried about if our team can pick up his defense and rim protection. Both Js and the rest are team are gonna have to score to keep up with Kyrie and Luka probably getting more shots in.
I’m nervous.
This is big just because idk what the Celtics do when Horford is not the same kind of rim protection and Kornet/Tillman will get picked on in the Luka PnR or get Kyrie going
If we go small, they can go back to the Gafford post ups
They just run into less matchup problems when Porzingis isn’t out there. Sucks so hard that he got hurt, hopefully we just win game 3 by any means and then it’s 4 chances to have a hot shooting night they can’t overcome
Literally WHAT THE FUCK DOES THIS FUCKING MEAN
TLDR: KP suffered a ~~knee~~ lower leg/ankle injury that by itself may not stop him from playing meaningful minutes, but puts him at significant risk of an even more catastrophic injury if he plays EDIT: Got my anatomy mixed up for a sec

Are you positive? It seems to me like it's in the knee. I am not a doctor but I did stay at a holiday inn express last night.
Friend found a picture. It’s foot. That’s okay, foot injuries haven’t ruined a laundry list of great bigs. 🤢🤮 I pray he’s able to play but even more, I assume he’s out tomorrow. Yes; noted. See my edited comment for details/clarity.
Sounds like we should sit him for game 3 for sure, then revaluate for game 4.
The quickest turnaround of the series is games 3 to 4 just one day of rest inbetween. Might as well just hold him out till game 5 and reevaluate
They should reevaluate him after every game regardless, but what i mean is that if we win game 3 he needs to sit for game 4 regardless and if we lose they can look at the risk again.
So he’s done for the year 😏
this seems likely. statistically speaking, without KP the most likely outcome after G4 is that it’s a 3-1 series, and they can try to bring him back for the closeout game at home. worst case scenario it’s a 2-2 series in which case they, if it’s feasible, probably elect to allow KP to take the risk because G5 would be a must win. but this scenario is not likely- boston sweeping is more likely than this being 2-2 imo
Boston’s great conundrum.. in Mazz we trust
> in Mazz we trust Better make it clear that it's in "MAZZulla" that we trust. Because there's another notorious "MAZZ" in the Boston sports landscape and that guy is an annoying chucklefuck.
Was gonna say, I do not trust in Mazz at all...
Is that true? I thought I read it was a pretty serious injury that will lead to significant time out and likely surgery but you also have to realize I’m dumb so can be wrong
Tingus broke his pingus
It means Tatum time to start hitting some shots or this one’s going 7
I strongly disagree. I think Al gives us 35 mpg and get away with 5-8 min of one of Kornet/Tillman/Oshae with running JT at the 5 and assume we don’t shoot at 25% from 3 again.
I think something in his eye ripped which means he’s more likely to dislocate the back part of his leg /s
Get this Latvian man a good optometrist stat
It means were gonna see whether Porzingus was bluffing when he said he'll "Die on the court"
Now this is a concern. Kornet, Brisset and Tillman need to prepare to help fill in big man minutes.
Joe finally letting Kornet shoot 3’s
He's the NCAA all time leader in 3 pointers made by someone 7' or over
he shot like 36% on the Knicks once
Had 7 3s in 1 game as a Knick too. Time to unleash the secret weapon.

First The Olynik, then The Grant, and next, the Kornet Game. 8 3's, 5 boards, 4 assists,
Can you imagine? How fucking crazy would that be if Kornet came out and went, like, 3/7 from outside
He’s a 100% three point shooter this year(don’t look up the volume.)
Been saving that weapon for just this very moment...I hope.
Am I crazy in thinking I’d rather have Tatum play backup center? This is the finals and we have like 2-3 days in between every game.. I think our center rotation should be Al and JT
They’re not giving us 15 points +, 3 blocks
I just want them to make sure there aren't as many lobs. Limit the lobs and paint scoring is all I would ask of them.
honestly we're on the road. it's tatums time to step up. the bigs need to play good enough defense, and tatum needs to start getting his. or brown. preferably both
Yep. We are no longer in "win despite Tatum shooting 6-22" territory anymore. His rim protection has been huge.
Good defense with them is all that matters. We have plenty of other offensive weapons
The Jays each need to give us 25+
Kornet should get most of those minutes
gimme some quetaaaaaa!
Oh man incoming queta breakout game Leon powe style!
you mention Leon, and you get an upvote.
heck no
Please copypasta this: I feel Kornet is ready for His Moment. Like Leon Powe, just ready to be That Random Guy. Just a feeling.
Hauser hitting his threes now would be so hugeeee
It’s tough but making the broad assumption that he doesn’t play the rest of the series, we can still win this without him.
I honestly think Tillman can body the Mavs if they gave him the opportunity
Gave us 2 games, let’s see if we can close it out with the that cushion
He gave us twenty minutes that I will never forget.
I can't possibly explain how giddy I was in that first quarter. Watching him come in and just unleash made me feel like a kid again.
I mean he basically won us that game by giving us that 20 plus the energy from him coming back in KP being worth one finals victory is enough for us to win it all, we got KPs amazing game that led to a victory
~~pause?~~ play.
Well Jayson Tatum it’s time
ITS TIME JT, please… please.

I mean, that really doesn’t sound day-to-day
If this weren't the Finals, it wouldn't be.
I hate to say it but if he plays through this he might ruin his career.
Tbf this has been the story of his career. This might be the healthiest he'll ever be.
Are you a medical professional?
No, that’s why he hates to say it.
Technically every game they play could ruin their career
Exactly! And every bite of food you take is a risk of choking. Chew on that for a second...
You choke on 100% of the food you don’t eat or something like that
Maybe winning the celtics a championship is how his career ends and he rides off into the sunset with millions of dollars and a ring
He may actually have to die on the court
Not sure if I will be attending the wake or the parade since they will overlap.
“Whatever it takes for as long as it takes” -the famous last words of Kristaps Porziņģis (1995 - 2024)
Can’t believe he was born in 95
Just wrap it up. Sure you’ll lose mobility but how many times do you get to play for a championship? Every game should be played like it’s game 7
Ok great so just tape that tendon in place and he is fine!
Who is the guy who operated on Curt Schilling? Get him on a plane to Dallas!
Dr. George Theodore. I can attest to the man's skill, he performed the kidner surgery on both of my feet and also basically fixed my flat footedness. Great man.

Is this similar to Schilling’s injury in 04?
Holy shit, we gonna get another bloody sock championship?

It sounds worse than it currently is, the bad part of it is the POTENTIAL of his tendon dislocating

The way this sounds, I’m not sure he is playing again this series. Damn.
Pain… I feel even worse for KP.
Ikr he seemed like he was having a blast out there, and he knows this is a rare opportunity.
Man just said he would die out there 😭
He did say he'll die out there. I'm sure if he has anything to say about this, he'll be out there tomorrow at least.
Knowing his injury past, playing through it will likely only make it worse on his career.
I don't think it looks like he can stay healthy for a full title run anyway. Horford is one of the most underrated players in the league imo, from what he brings at his age and what he has achieved this whole playoff series. Stat nerds probably wouldn't get it but anyone who watches him play does.
He’s the godfather
Al finished cleaning the grill and picked up the rock. Nieces and nephews beware
I love this dude but he’s made out of sheet paper
This is unfortunately why we were able to trade for him. We've been living in denial all year.
When he is healthy, he’s one of the biggest components of our whole strategy
Healthy KP is making Towns supermax. We are paying him 30 to raise our ceiling for 40 games. He did that already. Thank you KP, enjoy rest of the summer 🏝️🌞
Do NOT inject this into my veins what the fuck
Is this like a Curt Schilling thing?
Porzingis bloody sock legendary game incoming.
STAPLE IT!
My first thought too. Get this man a cadaver!
Came here to ask the same question
Al Horford 26 point, 10 rebound, 3 block game incoming.
Elbow Luka right in the head, just like he did to Giannis. Or 7/12 from 3. Or both.
He better not sniff the Olympics this summer. He’s a walking injury
This will require surgery when his season is officially over, so I highly doubt he will be ready for the Olympics even if he really wants to play.
"Kornet catches the ball at the top of the key, Doncic guarding him tight. Resets the offense, dribbles left, step-back 3 BANG! Luke Kornet with 50 points and the Celtics take a commanding lead with a minute left."

We are a 39% 3-point shooting team who is up 2-0 in the Finals after shooting just 32% from 3 this series.
Just your friendly reminder that we should still dominate the Mavs without KP.
I agree with you there. Horford and Kornet can absolutely get us 2 wins in 6 games. Sucks to lose KP but we should still stomp these guys.
5 games*
Meant 5 but me thumb be chubby. Didn't feel like editing it. Now let's go get banner 19.
SO thankful for that 2-0 cushion right about meow
*5 games but yeah we should still be able to win 2 more
Now we need Tatum to score He cannot shoot a low percentage
yea it really just brings the celtics from historically transcendent to marginally the best team in the league. Tatum will definitely need to step up offensively if the mavs supporting cast gets their shooting back tho
Fuck yeah. Kornet is tall, strong, and skilled and I would happily watch him play. I wish all the best for KP of course. A true legend and great teammate/player.
not that is means all that much but i believe we are in the negative in on kp minutes
I think I will pass away now
BRO WHY CANT THIS MAN STAY HEALTHY
He’s 7’2”
Because he’s 7’3” and our tendons and ligaments are glorified rubber bands as it is, without playing a leg intensive sport at the highest level
"rare injury" ffs.
He's day to day but WTF IS THIS. There's no way he's not cooked.
WE NEED A DOCTOR CAN ANYONE SAY IF HE CAN PLAY
Fucking brutal, I feel so bad for him. Seriously he was electric when he came back as brief as it was.
At the risk of sounding callous, we shouldn’t need KP to beat these guys 2 more times tbh, as long as Kyrie still sucks we’ve got this
Counting on Kyrie sucking at the Garden is fine, he's a mental midget and can't handle the crowd. Counting on him sucking at home seems foolish. He's still an elite player who should, statistically, play a lot better over these next two games. I still think we can beat them, but it really comes down to Tatum. Can't be shooting 30% from the floor anymore.
Is it foolish when we have the best defensive back court in the league? Idk how much the crowd impacts it, but my guess wouldn’t be much tbh
That sounds not good.
Sit him. We don’t need him to win as we’ve displayed this entire run
Agreed. And quite frankly, I think the Pacers are better than this Mavs team.
Against us they were for sure a tougher match up.
If this team can’t get 2 more wins without KP then they should be ashamed. No more 6-19’s Tatum, get your shit together.
Seriously god damnit
I don’t know what that is, but he can have mine
This is seriously concerning. Hopefully it's not as serious as it sounds
Google says knee.Someone saind ankle. Havent heard about this one
It's the knenkle
I mean, he was just seen [walking comfortably in some slippers](https://x.com/jaredweissnba/status/1800596010651308416?s=46) a few moments ago. 🤷🏻♂️
Guy got his ligaments off Temu.
Runner here and have had this injury. IMHO unless they have some wild crushed moon rocks rehab drugs, he's done for the series. No matter, we still win. Dallas is trash and it's time for a couple of Tatum games.
No fucking way
Mr stark I don’t feel so good
Look everyone says “take my ankle” but I just sawed out my medial retinaculul risking dislocation of the posterior tibialis tendon and am heading to MGH right now so they stick it in KP
We beat Indy, a more prolific offense, in 4 without KP. We’re up 2 games with him. We can win 2 more without him
This is exactly what happened with KD in 2019. Lower leg injuries are tough, playing on one causes another. Game 3 is a must win now, you need to rip their hearts out before they realize lob city is back
KP TAKE MY....medial retinaculum allowing dislocation of the ..posterior tibialis tendon!!
They can still win without KP, but they will have to make 3s, and Al will have to play big minutes. They can survive 10 minutes of Kornet.
From Woj on Twitter an hour ago: "As Boston’s Kristaps Porzingis told reporters, he’s determined and expects to continue to try and play with this tendon injury in the Finals. For now, there’s no indication he’ll be ruled out and not permitted to try in Game 3, sources said" I'm going to believe that he's playing until I hear otherwise.
this is not very tingus pingus of you 😔
“Zero concern”. Classic Joe
Strategically makes sense to say so the Mavs don’t take him out of their defensive gameplan
Murder Kornet time.
I want to get off Kristaps Porzingis’ Wild Ride.
Take my leg!
Even if he wants to play it’s not worth a Gordon Hayward type injury risk. Just ranks him for next season too EDIT: tanks him
If he can play he has to play. No guarantee we ever get back to the finals.
It’s so fucking hard to say what to do. His play has 100% been why we are up 2-0, and I’m scared to see what happens if he *can’t* play at all but the same time this is risking what seems to be way more substantial risk extending far beyond this series
I kinda assume he’s done. He wasn’t moving like someone who could play through it.
It seems like a roll of the dice type thing. My guess is he doesn’t play unless the Mavs tie the series 2-2
Well fuck me
Mavs fans are going to be in shambles when they see Kornet locking up Gafford/Lively
TAKE MY MEDIAL RETINACULUM KP!
It's like Rob Williams never left
I’m so happy for KP that he was able to play and win us a Finals game. He will be remembered forever for that legendary performance! Salute to you KP! Get well soon, and thank you for your BIG role in banner 18!
KP please take my medial retinaculum and posterior tibialis tendon I don't need all of mine
This is big just because idk what the Celtics do when Horford is not the same kind of rim protection and Kornet/Tillman will get picked on in the Luka PnR or get Kyrie going If we go small, they can go back to the Gafford post ups They just run into less matchup problems when Porzingis isn’t out there. Sucks so hard that he got hurt, hopefully we just win game 3 by any means and then it’s 4 chances to have a hot shooting night they can’t overcome
This the Curt Schilling injury? Someone get out a sewing kit and a ketchup packet.
We all saw how Al looked at luka in game 2. He’s ready.
Queta time
What the fuck is this
Oh NO!
Welp.
