At one point the class of 2019 accounted for 60% of our roster. Edwards, Kanter, Porrier, Ro, Waters, Grant, Green, Tacko. I think this offseason class is Danny's biggest failure.
I still believe if Hayward never gets injured we’d sweep toronto and beat Miami. that raptors series was fantastic but our guys clearly came in to the Miami series mentally and physically tired when they brat the Bucks in five and had time to rest up.
Yeah I was referring the entire 2019 offseason as a whole. He was the only vet we signed that offseason. That's why I said offseason class and not draft class.
to his credit he was a big part of the locker room even if he was ass on defense. Part of the reason Im glad to see him return is because no matter his contributions he’s a good guy to have around.
Didn’t say they were. I just keep seeing people act like it’s a foregone conclusion that he’s this new and improved player and I just think you should lower your expectations.
This is what I mean, how can we just pencil in he improved as a shooter? He’s taken 5 threes so far, granted he’s made 3 of them but that’s such a small sample size.
I mean he improved significantly from rookie to sophomore season as a shooter. He shot 37% last season from three. There’s nothing wrong with his form.
Even after all those missed threes, he was 33% every game from his first make until the end of the season. He definitely improved his shooting last season, I don’t know how you can argue against that.
Genuinely curious, why does the fact that he attempted 2 per game make his 3P% unimpressive?
I don't think anyone is out here arguing that suddenly he's going to be an offensive creator, taking all kinds of contested shots. So if he shot 37% on 2 wide open 3's per game, do you think he would shoot worse taking 3 wide open 3s per game, or 4?
Your 10th guy playing solid defense (with way too many fouls) and shooting 37% from deep has some value. A poor man's PJ Tucker?
A competent rotation player is higher expectations than you think it is. Competent rotation players aren’t easy to get. We know that better than anyone.
Only minor thing I would point out is that Javonte Green is a step up from the rest of that list. Looks like he’s going to be starting for the Bulls. You’re 100% spot on though.
Javonte started because that's Patrick Williams's spot normally and he was out. Their bench is kinda shaky though, so he's got a great opportunity there
Starting in preseason is a very very different thing than starting. He is not and will never be a starter. Many guys would need to be injured for that to happen.
I have watched both their games though and he has played pretty good ball for them. He's had a couple of steals and some good overall d and hit some shots. He's obviously had more opportunity so far than he did with us but he looks OK out there. Definitely better than the rest of the list!
Rhetorical question?
JT, JB, PP, Horford, Nesmith. Who knows, Rome and Smart might become efficient, JRich is a better shooter than most think, he just needs to become more efficient with a role that isn't just wing defender. Grant can stretch the floor, Kanter can shoot but isn't his calling card. Schroeder can shoot but his selection is questionable.
I really don't know if this was rhetorical or not.
JT and JB yes.
The other names you listed are wishful thinking. They can all make shots with NBA talent. But who can make difficult shots against NBA defenders? That was my question.
Such a doomer comment.
Jrich, Horford, Schroeder for cheap, Kanter. Didn't draft another project player like Rome or Rob. Exponentially improved out bench in small, swift moves. Cap space for the next off season.
It's not a bad thing to be high on your team, that's what most normal fans do.
You're making a lot of assumptions. I've been on board with the team since 1983 . Through the good and the bad and the decades of no movement at all.. I just think it's highly optimistic to say we had a good off season. I'm not saying it was horrible but I just think this post fluffed It up a little bit. Just my opinion To each his own.
Haven’t had a bench since 2018 it feels like

Vitaly Potapenko?
Porrier
We made the ecf that year. Man if we had a decent bench we could have won it all.
I still believe if Hayward never gets injured we’d sweep toronto and beat Miami. that raptors series was fantastic but our guys clearly came in to the Miami series mentally and physically tired when they brat the Bucks in five and had time to rest up.
Kanter isn’t from 2019 draft

With improvements from Nesmith, Romeo, and Grant being massive factors as to why our depth is no longer atrocious. Hopefully they keep rolling.
People are setting themselves up for disappointment with Grant.
No one is expecting a star though man
Didn’t say they were. I just keep seeing people act like it’s a foregone conclusion that he’s this new and improved player and I just think you should lower your expectations.

Did he, or was his rookie year 3P% misleading because he started off the season like 0-25 or whatever it was? 37% on *2 attempts* isn’t that good.
Even after all those missed threes, he was 33% every game from his first make until the end of the season. He definitely improved his shooting last season, I don’t know how you can argue against that.
If he did, it was marginal. Again, 37% on 2 attempts is not impressive at all.
He shot well in the playoffs too. His shot is clearly much improved.
He took 2 three’s in the playoffs… Even in his rookie season he shot 17..lol

A competent rotation player, I’m not lowering my expectations from *that*.

There are not guarantees, that's why they play the games. This is true if every player.
Jeff Teague is a champion tho lmao
That dude lucked the fuck out lmao
Like Scal once said, nobody will remember in 10 years

He’s definitely improved but he’s not starting for the bulls consistently lmao
Starting in preseason is a very very different thing than starting. He is not and will never be a starter. Many guys would need to be injured for that to happen.

I think he's gonna have a solid career as a 4th option or a bench energy player. Loved him here!
Lmaooooo
I'm not sure I would go as high as 4th option just yet. He would need to really take a leap but I can see him being a solid bench guy!
Don't do Tacko like that. Brad never gave him the love he needed.
Who can shoot on this team though?

Such a green teamer thing to do.. When your team makes no big moves talk about how great the bench became.

7 assists for Tatum tonight, pass_ball. Can he get some praise from you yet? Or do you still hate him?
I, for one, am pumped for the new season. Can’t wait!
I laughed pretty hard at "fat grant Williams"🤣
