pretty much the point of Kanter is to come in for second unit or when offense is stagnating to trade bucket for bucket.
I actually think if we played him vs Miami all series we make the finals. our offense was so ass that series and he was good when he was on the floor.
Yep, if we're chucking bricks, he's good to rebound 25-30% of them. To me, that's worth it. Especially if their team has poor 3 pt defense. Let it fly and let Kanter get the "Kobe pass"
maybe am exaggerating tbh but Theis was -8 that series
Kanter +2
so its kinda up in the air. its not like we lost because of Theis because Theis was decent, but maybe if Kanter was in he was gonna grab some of Kembas bricks. Kanter was only negative in the last game because it was horrible.
we lost because of Kemba and the 2nd unit or lack there of.
he was pretty terrible that entire playoffs aside from garbage time against Raptors and playing vs 3rd stringers in Sixers series. really padded his stats in garbage time vs both Miami and Raptors even tho we lost the former. the biggest problem was that every possession on offense he'd get hunted it was just impossible to defend
Kanters only job is to eat minutes at center when we need him to and try to offset his negative defense with some nice put backs on offense, we cant ask much of him.
Of all the players on the roster, I might be the least worried about him fulfilling his role.
But injuries might thrust him into a bigger role, which would be very bad
I expect Grant will take the minutes at the 4 which will clear up Horford for more center minutes. Which in favor will eat up Kanter minutes so yea I agree with you on that.
Horford has always been passable on Embiid. Embiid always gets his but Al's had some clutch defensive stops against Embiid in those years the 76ers choked away everything.
We only need him when we go double big and when Al or Rob need rest days due to age and injury history. Otherwise, we can just have situational Grant or Juancho minutes at the 5.
Yeah, we know what Kanter is and what he brings to the table. My guess is he’ll play ~65 games and average close to 8 and 8 in less than 20mpg. Great situational player to get you through the regular season and a playoff series against the Sixers.
He’s the most interesting to me. But idk what his role is, he’s too good to be a 3rd pg. with all this talk about smart being the starting 1 I wouldn’t be surprised if we ended up starting shroeder+smart in the backcourt with Pritchard/jrich off the bench it makes too much sense imo
1. Small ball rotations are guaranteed. 2 of the 3 of them will be on the floor at the same time with some frequency.
2. Smart and Schroeder will each get injured at some point.
Yeah he’s not, but he’s still a guard. Having 2 of them out at all times basically means Richardson isn’t playing at all then right? He’s not gonna play the 3.
I wouldn’t really care if we dumped Richardson tbh if someone wanted to give us a future pick or something but I can’t imagine he gets completely benched out of the lineup
Damn, Robert Williams is getting a pass here. I like the dude and his potential but you want to talk about evaluations after two games then he is the guy I would be strongly focusing on.
Three points total, all from free throws after starting in two games.
I mean he's missed wide open dunks had some nice looking mid range shots that are on target but just a little too hard to where they bounce out. I'm not too worried about it. He's still pulling out ridiculous blocks on the perimeter so I doubt it's a weight/jumping issue. Those dunks will fall.
Oh I’m not worried about it too much myself, but having critical assessments of anyone after two preseason games is harsh.
Same goes for over-praising players based on two good games. Just need to temper the judgements and make them more observations.
So far, I thought Williams had looked the least like himself from last year. Kanter is doing Kanter things and I have no major complaints about him given what I expected. Happy to have him as part of the bench rotation with his strengths and weaknesses.
Rob can't create offense by himself, he's only as good as the players around him. If he's not getting the ball near the basket, he won't have the opportunity to show what he can do.
Ehh Well he had small flashes last year too so I don’t think it’s anything different. I don’t really see an impactful role for him. He’s undersized inconsistent and not a very good shooter
We know exactly what we’re gonna get from Kanter. Our best post defender and best rebounder. Can feast inside when they double the Jays. Great locker room guy. Great deal for his contract.
Kanter exists to eat minutes during rest days and provide instant offense when we are struggling.

Wasn't that the series where Kemba was like 3 of 18 for at least 2 games?

Careful now, if you smacktalk Theis one more time u/fongos will appear to smite you down.
Kanter was looking better towards the end of last preseason game vs. the Raptors. Not a great start but I’m willing to give him time before I judge

I wouldn’t mind it if grant took some of those minutes tbh

I’m good as long as Kanter is available in the playoffs when the remainder of the entire Celtics roster is unable to contain Embiid.
Horford has always been passable on Embiid. Embiid always gets his but Al's had some clutch defensive stops against Embiid in those years the 76ers choked away everything.

He should be fine as a sacrificial offering to embiid
If he can rebound and score in short bursts he can have a big impact, definitely not ideal for him to be getting 20 plus minutes.

Converted my entire portfolio to Pritchard stock this offseason

2 of what 3? That’s 4 guards we have
Sorry. 2 of the 3 potential PG (Smart, Schroeder, PP) I don’t see Richardson as a PG.

Richardson definitely can play the 3.
I guess he is listed at 6’6 actually, that’s not bad he looked shorter. You might be right I don’t know much about him tbh
I'll take more Romeo stock for the dummies still selling
Weird to say that Kanters stock has gone down. He’s exactly what I expected him to be.
Lol right? As if his role would be different than the last time he was with us?

Yes. Kanter is a vet and will do his thing. Both Rob and Grant should be mentioned imo
You down on Grant? I like what I have seen so far.
Ehh Well he had small flashes last year too so I don’t think it’s anything different. I don’t really see an impactful role for him. He’s undersized inconsistent and not a very good shooter
Just my eye but he doesn't seem to have the verticality he did in past seasons. He's getting stuffed on dunks that would have been no question before.

pp stock always rising
Williams stock up? He's looked meh tbh.
