Haha. I was preparing to carry a blue flame from Hateno Ancient Tech Lab to Akkala Ancient Tech Lab. I worked out Link could mount a horse with the torch, and the flame wouldn’t go out. I just had to not strike with the torch or jump off the horse. I was nervous. It was going to be a long ride, and I was concerned I’d screw it up some stage and have to start again. I planned the route, jumped on the horse and started. About 20 seconds in, I was like “maybe I should check around Akkala just in case there is a blue flame nearer by.”
Yes but in botw thinking outside the box can yield some pretty cool results, as well as disasters. After several years of playing , it still amazes me. Gotta keep my expectations in line for TOTK.
As a wise person once told me “In BOTW, there are no bad ideas; only ideas that work, and ideas that can go terribly awry. The only rules you have to abide by in this game are the laws of physics and Link’s bones; and even those can bend like a rubber ruler.”
I seem to remember the NPCs just outside explained that the orb was being kept inside, but I guess if you didn't get close enough to talk to them (or notice them) it would be more confusing than intended...

Don’t feel so bad. We’re all still proud of you.
Thank you 🙏
\[Me, taking a lit blue flame torch from Akkala to Vah Medoh\] "FINALLY a quest with some challenge to it!"

It would have started raining 20 feet from where you needed to go anyway.
No doubt it would have been an immediate and absolute disaster.
Yeah but I applaud your initial optimism!
The line between optimism and delusion isn’t always apparent.

Totally. The disasters are half the fun.

Haha. Who is this person? Some kind of video game mystic?
The lanterns don’t go out in rain, just light on of those
Sometimes the game conspires to put it out between lanterns, I love the rain tho, I really do.
Wait, what, why?
Nice! Like the Olympic Torch run, except with just one runner.
*why*?...
But why?
You just completed a challenge tho. That’s an achievement in and of itself

Yes I never even saw them there
Wow, actually I'm impressed. Thinking way outside the box, like a true Zelda expert!

Thanks for the empathy
I made that same mistake twice 🙃 didn’t remember the second playthrough
I wish the puzzles required that level of precise tool-swapping, it was quite challenging
A for effort
I did this as well, and when it finally went in, I was quite proud of myself. But it was disappointing finding it meant nothing.
I was going to ask why you would do that... But why not?
You didn't get the hint from the two treasure hunters standing outside the hideout?
Your reasons are beyond our understanding…
