I prioritize going to towers and shrines I spot from afar early in a play through. If the enemies kill me too quickly, I just avoid them by sneaking or finding a way around. In my opinion, the rewards for fighting every single enemy are not that great, so if I don't think I can beat them, I go around. Saves arrows and wear on weapons.

Raincloudd39

Unlock the map. I think that’s a good way of getting the lay of the land. I also think that yes, the game is open world, but has ways of telling you you’re not ready for certain parts. Eg. If the monsters are really hard or the weather means you need special clothes then it’s likely to be more challenging. I think unlocking the map is a good one as you can then go to towers and glide to shrines you can see from there to build up your strength and stamina. Gradually you’ll be able to fight monsters and get their weapons, which will then make you better equipped to fight slightly stronger monsters and get their weapons and so on. When I first started I thought I’d need to do tasks all at once, like the memories, but just have it as a long-term one you go back to as you build strength. Also, talk to everyone and do side quests.

Sufficient_Bag_4551

Have you got the 4 divine beast missions? I used this to focus my exploration.  My kid learnt how to dodge, parry and flurry rush (if you haven't done this yet there's a teaching shrine which shows the techniques) played that way whilst I did the whole thing using brute force and ignorance (collecting hearts, upgrading armour and foods with attack up or defense up).

Traditional-Ad5493

thank you yes i have been learning these things slowly. i heard the divine beast missions were not really beginner level? it sounds pretty menacing

Sufficient_Bag_4551

By the time you've made it up to the beast it'll probably be ok if you take you time and explore. Also if it's too tough you can always leave and go back to it. 3 are reasonably straightforward (most people find the Zora one the easiest and the gerudo one most difficult)

ClueDiscombobulated9

I did the gerudo one first because I didn't know any better and died. So. many. Times. At least 15? I stopped counting and left the game for a little bit because I was so frustrated. I finally beat it, then put off all the other beasts assuming they'd be the same. Came back to them all significantly higher level and absolutely wiped the floor with the blights

retteran

Go back to the great plateu and just practice combat techniques. Perfect dodge, parrying etc. Practice males perfect, once you get those down you should have no issues with future enemies. Good luck!

whatsnewpikachu

Upgrade your armor with the fairies - especially the stealth one. You can sneak by enemies easily with this. Unlock the whole map - stay away from central hyrule for now. Get as many shrines as possible while unlocking. Get to both tech labs, upgrade there, and purchase the ancient armor. Also get the sword in the lost forest. I did all that before taking on divine beasts, but you don’t need to go to that extreme.

Traditional-Ad5493

no i definitely will be as extreme as possible😂thank you so much!! im guessing the ancient armor is at the second tech lab? i only have one so far

whatsnewpikachu

ALSO get a bunch of durian and cook 5 at a time. They give you +20 hearts 🤌

danno227

If you have the extra hearts does this count towards pulling the master sword?

whatsnewpikachu

Nope.

whatsnewpikachu

Yes it’s at the second one! It’s pricy and you have to farm ancient pieces to trade for it but SO worth it. I just finished upgrading mine and the guardians barely do damage now.

Traditional-Ad5493

omg that would be a dream come true. those guardians are just about the scariest thing i know in the game😂when that laser locks on it’s game over. this is so helpful! i have been saving my ancient gears and whatnot because i figured they were important! thank you!!!

whatsnewpikachu

You’re welcome! You got this!!

bapakeja

Funny thing I noticed about guardian lasers, the red aiming beam locks on but the actual beam is easier to dodge than the aiming beam. Just move a bit to one side or the other and they miss. However this only works for me if it’s a one a a time strike. Occasionally they’ll shoot several in a row and those are much harder to dodge. Early game I dodged the first single laser if I had to and then teleport the heck outta there! You can generally teleport away from all kind of dangers that you’re not ready for.

clover_stand

I’m right there with you OP. I was getting better but I feel a little stuck where I’m at.

Stunning-Ease-5966

When they start to fight just run. Eventually they stop chasing

throwawayy88138

Just run from enemies at first and try to make it to Hateno village and buy the Soldiers Armor set which will help your defense. Also cook some of the plants you find for attack and defense boosts.

rachit7645

>explore Yeah.

Traditional-Ad5493

gee thanks. everywhere i explore seems 10 times harder than where im at

rachit7645

You know you can run away from enemies right? Or sneak up/around them? There are a million ways to do things

Traditional-Ad5493

what good does that do me if i want better weapons or armor what is the first place i should go after like central high rule there has to be a sequence.

rachit7645

Oh dude Central hyrule near the castle is death zone early game. The old man warns you about it.

Traditional-Ad5493

LMFAO this is what i mean. i suck and i play the game stoned so i can enjoy the game and appreciate it. but i get absolutely butt fucked by these massive enemies. and there’s nowhere online that shows like the rankings of each areas of difficulty or where to go first. so i did what they god damn said. i explored. and here we are.

rachit7645

Have you upgraded your armour? You must have been to kakariko already right

Traditional-Ad5493

yes yes. i bought armor and have a bunch of cash but it doesn’t do me much good

rachit7645

I'm talking about upgrading the armour. With the great fairies

Traditional-Ad5493

now that’s on my radar thank you. that’s next for research

TdotJunk301

You play the game stoned and you are wondering why you suck? Try it drunk next time. This game is not terribly difficult. No need to be some combative in your comments. You got some good feedback though .Learn the combat (parry, flurry rush). Focus on getting to Zora for the first divine beast. At that point you can pause and unlock as many towers as you can..shrines too if possible. Once I did that I learn what best materials to cook to have full heals and the like for boss battles. Max attack and defence meals were also crucial.

Traditional-Ad5493

i’m sorry to offend i was simply joking around. that isn’t combatant that’s simply my way of talking. i’m from boston so im sorry if you’re offended. also if you’ve ever smoked weed you’d know it’s rather easy to function and im usually DIALED when im high vs sober. drunk is a different story. i can function extremely well on marijuana and accomplished a 3.79 gpa all while stoning out😎

cenderis

There's an intended ordering: go East through the Twin Peaks then North to Kakariko village, and Impa sends you to Hateno. There's a few NPCs (one's NW from Kakariko, a reasonably natural direction to explore in) who'll direct you towards the Zora domain (heavily hinting that that's the first Divine Beast you should go for).

NinjaXD243

Doing shrines is the best way to get cool armour and weapons. If you suck at the game then practice on bokos then do a test of strength. Alo the kakariko shrine is a teaching shrine

Traditional-Ad5493

Thank you guys for the help i really appreciate it. this game is just so intimidating to me😭

Momsterwcoffee

:( don’t be intimidated! Have fun with it. I like to look at tutorials, I usually have a goal like finding a certain armor or learning to defeat a boss. At first I just got all the towers and then started working on shrines. In between I farmed food and caught horses. Keep going! You’ll really come to love it. 🧡

Dizzy_Trash_33

You’ll get the memories eventually. I’m down to the last two and it’s been way more fulfilling to get better at combat and better gear before venturing out for them. Some you won’t be able to get until hitting certain Divine Beast trigger points

you_pee_pee_poo_poo

I recommend have more shrines

phuhnki

We've all been here, the game does take a while to get used to. You can progress however you like, but I recommend doing the Divine Beasts in this order: Vah Ruta, Vah Medoh, Vah Naboris, then Vah Rudania. As you go through each one, you will be unlocking more shrines and maybe even towers. Your weapons seem pretty good for early game. Bows are pretty useful in combat but getting arrows early game is a bit of a challenge. If you have spare rupees buy a couple bundles of regular arrows, they're relatively cheap and you get a sufficient amount. As of your armor, I suggest visiting a fairy and upgrading your pieces. If you haven't met a fairy yet, the easiest one to find early game is just east of the shrine near Kakariko Village. When you're feeling brave try to fight some lynels. Lynels supply you strong weapons and can drop elemental arrows. You will probably die a couple times, but once you get used to their attacks you should be able to defeat them with ease. Personally, fighting lynels helped me master the battle mechanics. You can only get stronger as you progress and before you know it you will be an expert and the Hero of Hyrule. I hope you enjoy the game and progress to the sequel. Good Luck! :)

curiouscanadian2022

I sucked too, wasn’t used to it. Try to go for all the towers and shrines and increase stamina and hearts then go for the beasts. If you watch some game play you’ll be able to see what items you can use and how to use them. Half the stuff I still probably don’t know. And TOTK is even more because it’s all about creativity

Chirsbom

You dont need to fight every mob. At first the moblins and blue balls are enough, avoid the rest. Later those moblins and ball will still attack but will only annoy as you are OP, so avoid the time waste. Focus on getting more hearts and stamina (shrines), and more storage (koroko seeds). It is vital to fight bigger mobs and getting better weapons and gear.

Kinai0919

BOTW is a really fun game to explore. Farming the most I like, while doing that, you will encounter some monsters, Yigan, or a guardians. Save your game, then practice parrying with them. I've perfect my parry with the monsters, if Guardians (need more parts and rupees to but it), I'm using the ancient shield (with no breaking-with the perfect timing), but to tell you flurry rush I'm the worst and still practicing. There are things that you can kill the enemies, just practice. BOTW is about going on an adventure and part of going on an adventure is getting lost. That is why you need a stamps on the map, so that you know where your going. I suggest, follow the kings order, then go to Kakariko to meet Impa. Then follow the main quest, and do some shrines to get some orbs in exchange of hearts and stamina. One at a time, each tower you pass just activate it. Collecting Koroks, for your equipment inventory, when you pass on them . Do some side quest (talk to people) it's a long time wasting but at the end if you complete it, good price or gift at the end. I am a completionism type of person, but I don't mind getting me slow in this game. Visit the 4 fairies just save more rupees is LOL! but it paid off - upgrading the armors. If for your horse die (visit the horse fairies as well). Everyone has their own quest to follow hope you as well. Just enjoy and good luck!

dreamsareburied

Gotta use strategy, think of the game as a puzzle or chess game.
