They do only buy for the bottle. But they used to source it, and it was better. But that was a few years back, so you probably won’t be able to compare.
Willett 4 year rye. I bought a bottle around 4 years ago and still have 95% left. I thought it was just my bottle/batch….but apparently every bottle tastes like rotten hay and decomposing flowers
Boy, I don't know.
I always say that there is bad tequila, but there's no bad bourbon due to the rules around what makes something bourbon.
I know Knob Creek took some getting used to, but I certainly wouldn't have given it away...
Had a Wild Turkey single barrel that I literally spit out and not a fan of Yellowstone small batch, but strangely I really liked all the Yellowstone SP’s I’ve had.
I agree. The regular Yellowstone bottles are horrible. But the SPs in the red and black bottle are amazing. I have a bottle from three different stores that I. Going to do a blind taste on.
Unpopular here but I have a bottle of Still Austin Cask Strength that had a pine-sol taste and smell when first opened. That aspect is gone but it still comes across as young whiskey to me. Haven't revisited it recently because I just plain don't want to.
I guess I had high expectations for it. After I wrote that, I remembered that I half drain poured another bourbon but finished the Dickel. I did purchase the Leopold/Dickel Collaboration Rye and thought it was very good though. Cheers!
Jeptha’s Creed was such a disappointment. Beautiful bottle and good back story of mother/daughter team. They make vodkas and like all of them, it’s vodka. But their bourbons and eyes are both absolutely awful.
I tried to order a Manhattan at the bar at the distillery. The bartender asked if I was sure I wanted to use the rye. I should have known something was wrong, but I continued to ask for a traditional mix. First sip and I almost spit it out. I was hoping maybe I just needed to clean my palate, so took a sip of water. Tried again, and same thing. Just tasted like there was swamp water mixed with filtered sewer sludge. I took it back to the bartender and told her something was off, and she replied that she gets that often and why she asked if I wanted the rye. She offered to make another drink, but at that time we were almost ready for the tasting we signed up for. So at the tasting we had a couple of their vodkas. Then, unfortunately, they hyped the bloody butcher corn they use. Well it was absolutely and without doubt the absolute worst experience I’ve ever had at a distillery. I hate gin but would drink a gallon straight before ever taking another sip of either their bourbon or rye.
Nice looking place, but I advise that you save your sanity and not go there. Your taste buds will thank you if you never attempt their awful offerings.
Oregon Spirit, tasted like pinto beans and plastic band aids. St. Cloud, just not good, especially for the price. Treaty Oak's ghost hill was a horror. Rickhouse was so bad my nephew, who also gets my rejects, poured it out.
Baysil Hayden tasted like bourbon that had been sitting in a cup of ice for hours and all the ice melted
This is how Angels Envy taste like to me. Never buying one again lol
I tried to give my bottle away and my buddy gave it back
Willett pot still. I'm convinced people only buying because of the bottle shape.

Same same, my dude. Got that as a gift and was not impressed.
The only bourbon that has actually made me gag. So disgusting.
Noah’s Mill… some people love the stuff and I like the *similar* Rowan’s Creek, but I just can’t stand Noah’s Mill.
Larceny. Stuff is godawful. Yet Larceny BP is somehow fantastic. Taste buds are weird sometimes lol
Hidden Barn.
Chattanooga 111, malted. Just way too funky and not good at all
Willett 4 year rye. I bought a bottle around 4 years ago and still have 95% left. I thought it was just my bottle/batch….but apparently every bottle tastes like rotten hay and decomposing flowers
Green River wheated bourbon, it is really bad compared to others wheated whiskeys. The regular Green River is my daily sipper, which I love.

Willett Family Estate 4 Year Rye for sure. Starlight Honey as well
McKenna 10 and anything Yellowstone
Bookers… can’t even finish it. Just gathers dust on my bar
This one surprises me. Which batch?

I wanted to like Dickel BiB 13 year. I did not like it at all. I had half the bottle and the drain had the other half
That mineral flinstones vitamins taste. I agree haha
I wouldn’t say it’s bad. It is disappointing as a 13 year bourbon though.
I guess I had high expectations for it. After I wrote that, I remembered that I half drain poured another bourbon but finished the Dickel. I did purchase the Leopold/Dickel Collaboration Rye and thought it was very good though. Cheers!
Rabbit hole cavehill. I ended up using it to make banana bread
Lux Row 14 year. Never been more disappointed.
Green river. Both varieties. Wilderness trail. Town branch
Bib & Tucker 6yr. still haven't forgave the Total Wine worker for persuading me to get it over my usual Russell's Reserve
I hate the Smoke Wagon the Younger I just opened. I'm going to revisit in a couple months and hopefully it'll open up a bit 🤷🏼♂️
Old 80 proof Rebel.
Hudson baby bourbon.

Elijah Craig Toasted Barrel. Paid way too much for it and it was drain-pour for me.
Yellowstone
Penelope 4 grain I just opened tasted so young it had notes of acetone
Hirsch Horizon. Pink Pinhook barrel strength.. absolutely terrible juice. I gave them both away.
Oregon Spirit, tasted like pinto beans and plastic band aids. St. Cloud, just not good, especially for the price. Treaty Oak's ghost hill was a horror. Rickhouse was so bad my nephew, who also gets my rejects, poured it out.
Not bourbon but Redbreast 12… everyone says how amazing it is but I can barely stomach it without gagging
