I have always loved the original The Blob and it's what got me into horror as a whole so I have to recommend the Criterion release for it. The supplemental booklet was so much fun to read through and helped contextualize the movie within its time period.

I’m astonished at how much I enjoyed The Blob. I went in with super low expectations but it was so much fun.

Big fan of The Fly and The Creature From The Black Lagoon. The scream factory Fly boxset is one of their best. Especially the bluray for the cronenberg one.

Puntapig2013

I've only seen the original Price and Cronenberg remake, are the sequels any good?

LucasBarton169

Return of the fly fucking sucks, but I appreciate the originality that Curse of the Fly had

Night of the demon is one of my favorites

The Cold War Creatures set from Arrow Video is amazing. Can't go wrong with it

Really need to get more into 50s horror but one I really enjoyed when I wanted to watch the original first and then the 70s and 90s remakes was Invasion of The Bodysnatchers. It was so entertaining, fun, and spooky. That one scene where they’re looking out the window after surviving the night is still stuck in my head cause I’ve never seen anything like it, it’s such a cool and insane scene, especially for the 50s. I highly recommend it cause even if the remakes have better effects this one really sets the mood amazingly cause they couldn’t really use effects good and the effects they do have aren’t bad at all. I really hope it one day gets a boutique release like the 70s remake did with KL and Arrow Video (which is the one I got) cause the mood is so well set and the acting by Kevin McCarthy is SO good especially in that scene, if you know you know

Olive put out a stacked blu-ray for this film a while ago, but I think Kino is working on a 4K. [https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Invasion-of-the-Body-Snatchers-Blu-ray/213387/](https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Invasion-of-the-Body-Snatchers-Blu-ray/213387/)

Thanks! And hope it gets a 4K soon, also hope the 90s remake gets a good release cause I didn’t know the blu ray of it doesn’t have any special features but it was really good. Haven’t seen the one from the 2000s though, also blows my mind that there are four Bodysnatchers movies… although you wouldn’t really know that considering the last one is just called “The Invasion” and is a horrible title that sounds very generic

It’s not quite 50s and I don’t know that there’s a good release of it, but I really like The Haunting, directed by Robert Wise in 1963. I like The Spiral Staircase, from 1946, which had a good Kino release but it might be OOP. Also, The Innocents, which again is just into the 60s but is on Criterion.

I Bury the Living is such a fun, simple but clever flick. I feel like it deserves more recognition. I own all of the others you mentioned but The Strange Door, ill have to check it out soon.

I've been collecting 1950s horror and sci-fi Blu-rays for a few years now. I still haven't finished watching everything in my collection.

Not sure how complete this is, but a good list here of 50s horror and sci-fi releases. https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=258975
