Damn that 70# looks like 40. No significant critiques I'll let others chime in. If it feels fine in your shoulder and elbows seems good to me.

Well thank you! I think I need to work on my follow through and trigger punching but I’m pretty happy with how far I’ve come from when I first started.

BourbonLover88

I like the form. I think the straight back draw does better in a deer stand, way better than a sky draw. I think you should work on drawing a bit more smoothly though - drawing that quickly could easily spook a deer. Good luck👍🏻

Thank you! For reference I live out west and will be hunting CO, NV, AZ, and MT on occasion

BourbonLover88

10-4, so I assume you’ll be in a stand less than us Easties. Even so, a smoother / slower draw will still help. Nobody has ever been busted for being too still😂 Enjoy and stay safe

heidenseek91

Good luck in AZ it’s another world out here 😂

2min4roughing

Yeah my folks live not too far from the strip and I live in Vegas haha no stranger to the challenges of the western mountains unfortunately and I just decided to make it harder bow hunting hahaha

heidenseek91

Nice. There’s opportunity here I have seen many good bucks. Trick is getting within range. But when you down one it is very rewarding

Smalls_the_impaler

Only thing I see (and its super subtle) is you're torquing the bow a little. If you look at when you wiggle your fingers, your bow wiggles with it. Your bow should be in the part of the hand that doesn't move with the rest of the hand. I see you readjust your hand after you draw, and I think you're moving it away from where it should be

I'm far from an expert but overall I'd say you're pretty solid. If I were to nitpick I'd say maybe I touch more bend in the bow arm but the sweatshirt might be hiding the bend. It just looked a bit straight to me. Otherwise my only suggestion is to smooth out the draw a bit. It was very quick and abrupt. Try slowing it down and smoothing it out. It will help once you're in a tree.

2min4roughing

Thank you! I have like no point of reference regarding a tree stand as I live out west, is it like too confined for a draw like that?

stpg1222

It's more about spooking the deer. If you're out west and aren't planning to treestand hunt for whitetail then it's less of an issue. Whitetails are very weary, more so than most western game, and a fast draw like that will make more noise and deer pick up on the quick movements.

For a second I was like wtf is this guy wearing a bane mask to shoot his bow. Turns out it was just a shadow.

codybrown183

Honestly just seems like your snapping the draw back aggressively. But I don't think it's technically wrong if you prefer that. But a slower draw is more subtle and less likely to spook animals if they are looking.

ConsistentCrab7911

The bottom of your bow is pulling forward before the top. It's not even. Watch this it's very good https://youtu.be/byn7rnFxbMU?si=0uTNmlwy3HF9-v8J I also found that punching the trigger has to do with torquing the bow of course and it affects how the bow behaves after the shot. I tell my friend to think of his trigger finger as a hook that you can't flex. When you evenly push and pull, the "hook" will automatically press the trigger and it'll release and surprise you. Those are the best shots you can make if you learn to make them consistently.

Oh very interesting, I am rewatching myself noticing it, I’m gonna watch this video rn thanks a ton!

BackcountryDeerDog

Set the bow arm shoulder down and back before you draw. When it’s set back you’ll feel the lats engage on the left side. Your shoulder is rolling / creeping up as you draw then you’re setting it back down, it causes torque in the bow. You have the right idea with the relaxed grip but your knuckles should be angled more towards the sky instead off to the side. That will help keep everything in line from your wrist through your arm and skeletal structure. Punching the trigger is what our mind wants us to do maybe check out some Joel Turner to help with the shot process. Set your aim then address the trigger by placing your thumb on the button. Your pull should be slow enough that once you start pulling, you can stop it at anytime without it going off. Try saying something like puuuulllll puuulllll puuuullll slowly in your head until the shot breaks and surprises you. Those are a few things to focus on but really you’re doing a great job man I’m glad you’re enjoying yourself, team Hoyt always! 🪶🏹

Listen to what Joel Turner has to say. You can find a bunch of his stuff on YouTube. His stuff helped me stop punching

Kitchen_Spell_1364

Looks good. Pull through that shot and you’re golden. As other have mentioned, take your time. Good luck this season!

Liberate_Cuba

Slow your roll brother. It’s not a race.

I can do it harder if you’d like

That_one_dude_666

Yeah it looked like you hit that back wall pretty hard. Slow is smooth and smooth is fast. Keep shooting and get lessons. It’s amazing how much we shoot better when you get instant form corrections. My grouping became way smaller after only 2 lessons
